There is a darkness
Inside each person.
Each believes
Their own is the worst.

This evil inside
This terror, this fiend
Is a demon inside.

It plagues us all
On our weakest days.
And many have fallen
To its crafty ways.

And now I say
To you my friend
You are not alone
In this quest for the end.

The size of your demons
Will not scare me away
For the size of my heart
Can bear them any day.

The mystery of why
The demon comes
Is one that I ponder
From time to time.

And the conclusion
That it took years to reach
Is that this world
Has too few beacons
Of light and hope
Such as you to I
And I to you.

And that is why
No matter how tall
Or how strong
Your demons may grow
As long as you wish
You should know
I shall stand firm
And not allow
The darkness to take
Another one.

And so when
My chance arises
I will do my best
To see your smile.

To see you happy,
To remind you I care,
And to tell you
Even the darkest moment
Can turn out quite fair.
