Katie's P.O.V

The anticipation was killing me.

I squeezed onto Asher's hand as we continued to drive towards my old pack's territory. The thing I'm stressing most about is seeing my parents. Mark isn't that big of a deal now that I have Asher.

"Calm down Katie! I can hear your heart beat from back here!" Colton complained from the back seat. I shot him a glare from the review mirror.

"Babe I promise everything will be alright." Ashe gave me a reassuring squeeze. I nodded and smiled.

We brought Brandon with us too but he's in the other car with John and a few other pack members that came along.

We pulled up to the Alpha's house- my parent's house. I took a deep breath before stepping out of the car. Here goes nothing.

One we were all out of the car, Asher took my hand in his and we walked up the steps to the front door. Nervously knocking a couple times my mother opened the door.

She gave me a quick embrace. "Katie, come in." No 'I've missed you so much' or 'I'm so glad to see you!'

I nodded and we all walked into the house. I looked around and realized how I didn't miss this place at all.

"Katie, so glad you could come." My father's voice knocking me from my daze. I snapped my head towards him and gave a small smile.

"Father, mother. This is my mate, Asher." I introduced.

My father looked up and down and my mother didn't even bother giving him a glance.

"Katie go along. I need to talk Alpha Asher about pack stuff." My father tried to dismiss me but that didn't go well with Asher.

Asher gave my hand a tight, reassuring squeeze. "Do not order my mate around." He snarled to my father.

My father was taken back but then replaced the expression of shock with anger. "That is my daughter and I will treat her any way I please."

Before Asher or anyone could get a word in I spoke up. "Actually, you're not allowed to treat me any way you want. Now let's behave civil and get this over with. Asher go meet with my father. I need to catch up with an old friend anyway." He looked at me unsure but nodded anyway.

Before leave his pressed a soft kiss to my forehead and then I went out the front door to find my best friend- Heather.

She is probably training out in the woods like she always did, that's why she's such an incredible fighter.

I walked through the familiar woods searching for her. I got a few glances from former pack members. They probably thought I wasn't really who I was and just a look-a-like.

After searching for a few minutes I saw her. She was currently setting up some wood around a large dirt circle. The pack usually had a bonfire once a month so I guess tonight was the night.

"Well aren't you a lucky bitch, who wouldn't want to set up wood for a fire?" I teased as I walked over to her.

Heather lifted her head up, she was clearly on alert mode. Well until she saw me. Her eyes quickly lightened up and she ran towards and pulled me in for a hug. "Oh my gosh! Do you freaking know how much I've missed you?!" She squealed.

I laughed and we both pulled out of the hug. "Do you know how much I've missed you?! How have you been?!"

The smile on her face was priceless. "It's been terrible without you here! By the way you smell really good." She said while sniffing my jacket.

I flicked her head. "You're so weird!"

She smiled a nodded in agreement. "But seriously, do you smell that?" Her face went serious.

I sniffed the air also and all I could smell was Asher's scent. God, it was mouth watering.

"Come on, we have to find out where it's coming from." She then grabbed my hand and pulled me towards my parents house. All I could smell was Asher at this point, of course I didn't mind that at all.

She suddenly stopped. "Heather are you alright?" I asked as I placed a hand on her shoulder.

"I don't know. My wolf is going crazy!"

"Oh... I wonder why."

"I don't know but I have to find out where that scent is coming from." She once again grabbed onto my hand and continued to pull me with her.

Heather came to an abrupt stop in front of my old house and then looked at me. "Is it ok if we go in?" She asked, looking very anxious.

I nodded and she pulled me into the house. We both walked down the hallway and she stopped when she got to the living room. I looked around the room and Asher, Colton, John, and a few other pack members were seated around the room. My father nor mother was in the room. Then I noticed something... The gaze between Colton and Heather.

"Mate." Colton muttered under his breath. He got up quicker than I've ever seen him move and was right in front of Heather. They were both just staring at each other not saying anything.

Asher stood up along with the other pack members, giving Colton and Heather some space. I brought them to the kitchen, but where the hell are my parents?!

Colton's P.O.V

I was standing in front of the most beautiful girl I've ever seen in my life. Her blonde hair was perfectly wavy and her green eyes sparkled. My mate was gorgeous. She was also taking in my appearance which I didn't mind.

"What's your name beautiful?" I asked in a soft tone.

"Heather... What's yours?" She quietly asked.

"Heather," I repeated. "What a beautiful name." She blushed at the compliment and it made her look so adorable. "I'm Colton."

She smiled slightly and then moved her hand to touch my cheek. I melted at her touch and couldn't take it anymore. I wrapped my arms around her waist and crashed my lips to her. Sparks went off and it was the best feeling in the world. At first she seemed surprised by the kiss but then soon responded and wrapped her arms around my neck.

Wow finding my mate went much smoother than I thought. Unlike Katie- my mate responds normally. Yup, Heather is perfect.

Asher's P.O.V

When we all entered the kitchen I quickly wrapped my arms around Katie's waist, missing her touch. She responded by putting her arms around my neck and pressing a soft kiss against my lips. Katie of course, being the tease she is, pulled away.

"Maybe now that Colton has met his mate he will stop being annoying and stupid." She said. I chuckled and shrugged my shoulders. I find Colton and Katie's 'friendship' quite amusing. Plus she's even hotter when she gets all worked up.

'Um babe, I can read your mind and you enjoy when Colton pisses me off?!' Katie questioned through our mind link.

Shit... Forgot she could do that.

'No angel.' I replied and kissed her forehead.

A loud cough came from behind us and we both turned around and Katie's father and a guy my age was standing next to him. But this guy kept staring- more like checking out my mate... In front of me! I let a low growl and the guy tore his gaze from my mate and glared at me.

"Take your hands off my mate!" The guy growled at me. Is he serious? Like, is this guy for real?

I had a sudden urge to laugh but that would take away my hard exterior. I glared back at him with narrowed eyes and snaked a possessive arm around Katie's waist and pulled her tightly to my side. "You're terribly mistaken and unless you want your head ripped off I suggest you stop looking at my mate." I warned.

He smirked but there was no humor in his expression. "Katie, tell this boy that I'm you're true mate."

It's true, Katie and I are two peas in a pod, the exact same person, soul mates. She bursts out laughing like I wanted to do and was clutching her side and wiping away the tears of humor that fell from her eyes. I couldn't help but smirk at her laughter.

She sobered up when her father cleared his throat- clearly unamused by her actions. "Mark, you and I both know that we're not true mates. Asher is my mate and the love of my life." She admitted. I suddenly felt like I was the happiest person on earth. No, scratch that. I am the happiest person on earth.

"Bullshit!" Mark snapped at her.

I gently pushed Katie behind me and took a threatening step towards Mark but that caused Alpha Miller to take a step towards me.

"Katie, I think it's for the best if you chose Mark." Alpha Miller, her own father is trying to get her to be with someone other than her true mate.

Wow, this pack really is messed up.
