There Was An Archer...

Robin P.O.V

I crouched down in the oak tree, making sure to stay hidden amongst the leaves. I stayed silent...waiting.

It felt like forever when I finally heard the rustling in the bushes. Slapping myself awake (I had been dozing off from doing nothing for an hour), I grabbed an arrow from my leather quiver, and aimed toward the bush.

The rustling suddenly stopped. I was just considering jumping down the tree and grabbing the little devil, but I already knew that wasn't sensible.

Before I could understand what was going on, I saw a tiny figure dash out of the bushes and onto the path.

Forget the sensible thing, I'm going after it.

I jumped down from the tree, and raced after the creature. I was fast, but it was faster than me. It had sensed my presence, and was now zigzagging through the bushes, making me crash into all kinds of trees and tripping over rocks and roots.

When I had come to a clearing, the creature was nowhere to be found. I let out a yell of agitation and swear words, kicking a stone into the air. It hit a large rock, and fell to the ground. I suddenly stopped yelling.

I looked around. The trees in this place had been burnt to the ground, which had created the clearing. I stiffened as I turned to the large rock that the stone had hit. I had been so caught up  in chasing my "prey" that I hadn't noticed my surroundings and the place it had led me to.

I looked again at the large rock which I now knew was the cave. That cave. I felt my whole body shaking, as I looked down at the  red ribbon tied to my arm. I slowly turned my back to the ruins. "I am not supposed to be here", I told myself, "this place is forbidden, now".

But I found that my feet did not want to walk forward. I knew I was not going to walk away, now that I had been here. After all these years... I had to see it. I wanted to see my sister's last resting place.

I faced the clearing once again, and walked towards the cave. If her spirit had remained here after she died, I wanted to talk to her.

I stood in front of the entrance and closed my eyes. I did not know what to expect. I knew her body was not there anymore.

Slowly, I opened my eyes, and what I saw was far from what I'd ever imagine to see.

It was a girl.

For the first second, my heart leapt but once I got to my senses, I knew it wasn't her. It could never have been her.

I walked cautiously to the girl lying on the floor of the cave. I did not get too close. She was unconscious.

I scanned her, curiously. She was small, with curly black hair, which covered her face, as she lay down. Her dressing was strange to say the least. She wore something which looked like a cloak but smaller. It was purple and had a hood, but it's sleeves were short. She also wore a pair of shorts which revealed a lot of her caramel coloured legs. I had never seen these kind of clothes before. A small blue shoulder bag lay a bit further away from her.

I wondered where she had come from. Was She alive? What if she was an enemy?

I clenched my fists. She must be one of them. They always dressed strangely. She must have been on her way to the town.

I wondered what to do. She could be dead already...or just sleeping. I was just considering reaching for my arrow, when she suddenly shifted in her position, and slowly opened her eyes.
