There Was A Town...

"Robin Hood"? I parroted. " The Robin Hood? Like in the story"?

He gave me a weird look. "Do you know any other Robin Hood"? He asked. "And aren't you gonna tell me your name too"?

I laughed. "I'm Jessika, with a K. But most people call me Jess. My Dad says JK. Nice to meet you. You know...You're a funny guy. But that's really a lame trick. Do you think I'm a ten year old or something? Hey, I know I look small, but I'm actually sixteen years old. Dude, I know Robin Hood is just a fairy tale character. But either way, it wouldn't hurt to take one selfie". I fished around in my bag for my phone, only to discover that it had been smashed, probably from the fall, and the little pieces were scattered in my bag.

"Noooo! No, no, no"! I shrieked in horror. "Oh god, this can't be happening".

His eyes suddenly widened as if he had just realised something. "Wait...You're not...No way".

I raised an eyebrow, as I paused my breakdown. "Do you know me from somewhere"?

He blinked a few times. "You are, aren't you? The clothes...the weird behaviour...it explains everything".

"Um, I'm sorry, what? Do I look like a mirror to you? You're the one dressed like a fairy tale character, claiming you're Robin Hood. And suddenly I'm the weirdo here? Listen dude, I need to get outta here. Could I borrow your phone to call my Dad"?

"You are in a fairy tale".

"Say wha"?

"You're in a different world".

"Pardon"?

"DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH, I SAID YOU ARE IN A DIFFERENT WORLD"! Robin Hood yelled at me.

"Well, excuse ME for thinking that's hard to believe"! I yelled back. Then stopped, as everything sunk in. "In a different world , huh? That's a new one".

"I'm not joking. Were you led here by a light"? He asked.

"Wait, how did you know about that"?

He shook his head. "I can't believe this is happening. Why me"? He looked at me with an annoyed look on his face. "We need to go to my town. Right now".

"Pfft. I'm not going anywhere til I find my friends". I said, stubbornly.

"You don't understand. Trust me, this is the last thing I want to do, but I promised someone something, and so I have to. You don't have a choice but to come with me. You are meant to be here".

"Meant to be where? What is this place"?

Robin sighed. "I will explain everything later. But if they find out you're here, they will take you away and do God knows what".

"Give me a reason to believe that it is right to follow a complete stranger to a place where I don't even know, just because they told me to"?

"If your life and the life of your friends depended on it".

And I was sold.

--------------------------------------

"So do you have a phone or not? And where exactly are we going"? I asked, as we trudged through the woodland, which did not look different from the one I remembered walking through with Rachel and Mac. Burnt trees and the lot.

God, I hoped those two were OK.

"I don't know what a phone is. And this is the place we were going to". Robin stopped in front of a tall, thick tree which was so high up , I could not see the top.

Oh of course.

Fairy tale worlds don't have phones.

"Um ok. Now what"? I asked.

"Could you stop with all the questions"?

"Could you stop being confusing"?

He sighed for the hundredth time since I had met him in like two hours. He held out his arm. "You're gonna have to hold onto me, commoner".

"What did you just call me"? I placed my hands on my hips. "I think you need to learn some manners, young man".

"Hold on, else I will leave you here to die". He replied, giving me a look which pierced through my soul. What choice did I have?

I walked over and wrapped my arms around him. He put one arm around my waist, and I felt my cheeks heat up, having not been this close to a guy who is not my Dad before.

Robin leapt into the air.

I screamed.

He landed on a tree branch, high up on the tree we had been standing below a moment before. "How...how did you just do that? Are you even human"?

"Just part of my skills needed for archery". He replied. "The archers from my town all learn different things with trees. Jumping skills are extremely important for our safety. The trees are our friends. And yeah, I am human".

"Now that's something I never heard about in the stories". I said, and he shrugged.

He leapt from tree to tree, and it felt more like he was flying. The wind swept my hair in my face, and I felt the coolness of the weather up high. For a lot of people, this would be terrifying. I could just imagine Rachel's reaction. But for me, it was something only Angelica Hughes could experience. If I was dreaming right now, It was the coolest dream ever.

Finally, he landed, and I felt solid ground beneath my feet.  He let go of me and pointed at something behind me. I turned around.

It was a small little town at the bottom of the hill we were standing on. The houses were small, and more rounder than the average house I would see in my neighbourhood. There were some tall buildings that looked like clock towers, and a river which flowed nearby.

It was gorgeous. It was like something straight out of a fairy tale. In fact, it may have been just that.

Hi!

I know this chapter was really just a long dialogue of Jessika and Robin arguing, so sorry if there's any problem with that. I think it's cool to just have a side-off dialogue beside the main plot. However, you will find that this is actually an important chapter relating to the relationship between our two current characters, and you will see why it's so important later on.

Meanwhile I hope you enjoyed it, because this chapter was actually fun to write.

Have a nice week!
