Chapter Twelve
Flashback
Jungkook's Pov:
Just when I thought I was shedding unwarranted burdens, another one appeared. How could a physician be so careless? Does he realize what this will do to my reputation?
It was in my best interest to have an heir, but not just any John Doe was fit to have my child. I had already contacted my attorney through email and demanded that he initiate an investigation into Kim Seokjin. I am uncertain of his intentions regarding the pregnancy, but I need him to understand he cannot use pregnancy to gain anything from me.
The doctor clearly thought I was a fool; I know this was only an attempt to acquire something from me. Regardless of who they were, everyone was constantly seeking to gain something. Even the guy I formerly referred to as my husband had been a difficult person to trust.
As I drove towards the location I was given, the destination was surprising, as I was acquainted with the area, which was home to some wealthy individuals and politicians. Min-hyuk wanted this to be one of the areas we lived in after getting married, but he ultimately chose a different location. I should have questioned his decision, as I would have known that he had chosen that location to be with his ex-lover.
While I was turning into the neighborhood, my phone rang, and I answered it as quickly as I could, fully anticipating that it was Taehyung, my main attorney calling. To my disappointment, it was the doctor.
"Why are you calling me?"
"Mr. Jeon, please. I am so sorry to have bothered you with this phone call. The fact that I gave you that address was wrong on my part. Could you kindly come back to my office so that we can talk about this? I am aware that I have done something wrong, and I am prepared to make amends for my actions."
"Are you attempting to assert that you had no intention of obtaining money from me with this man?" The audacity of this doctor! I would not be surprised if this was a plan of Min-hyuk's to accuse me of dishonesty in our marriage. I trust no one.
"I am a man of honor, Mr. Jeon, and I would never do anything dishonorable like that. I was completely wrong, and Mr. Kim Seokjin had nothing to do with it in any way, shape, or form. He knew nothing of this until today, and he is devastated by the news. After being intimidated by you, I felt compelled to provide his address to you. I am sickened by my behavior and aware that I have only contributed to the worsening of the issue."
I came to a screeching stop in the middle of the road and said, "I will determine if he is innocent. Your words have no value to me."
"Mr. Jeon-"
I instantly hung up the phone since I could not continue the discussion without my attorney present.
I kept driving to this man's residence, unconcerned by the doctor's words; I wanted to confirm for myself that he was unaware of this until today. I also wanted him to understand that if he chose to retain the kid, I would be unable to provide much assistance. I would rather pay a surrogate than have a stranger carry my future heir.

"Hello, can I help you?"
This could not possibly be the guy who was pregnant with my kid. I examined him from head to toe, taking every inch of his features. I was confident I had met him previously. Four years ago, at Gangnam's fund-raising event, he was there with his spouse. The memory reappeared as I looked at him repeatedly; it was impossible not to remember him.
I remember that he drew a great deal of attention, but his husband, the late Min Yoongi, maintained a close grip on him throughout the night.
"Can I help you?" He questioned again, peering at me with an annoyed expression.
I'm sure he assumed I hadn't heard him the first time, but I was more amazed than anything else. My earlier thoughts while traveling here were irrelevant.
"About an hour ago, I was informed that we are expecting a baby, and I have come for us to talk about this matter. Is it a good time for you to talk right now?"

Present Moment
Seokjin's Pov:
"You don't like me; I can see that."
At least he had a little bit of intellect, and it was nice to hear that you are aware. "It is only because of Jungkook that I will continue to see you as my doctor, not because I have such high regard for you or your abilities."
As he examined my stomach, he gave me a small smile; the more I looked at him, I was convinced he was pregnant. There was no way he wasn't.
"I can comprehend and appreciate your perspective towards me. I apologize for the terrible mistake that I made, yet, it seems that my error has led to something good between you and Mr. Jeon."
"Who told you that?"
"The name changed in the system to Jeon Seokjin and the new wedding ring, which seems to be around twenty-four carats. It has a different cut from the one you wore before, or am I wrong?"
It wasn't the fact that he caught on to the new name that pleased me so much as the fact that he picked up on the shift in jewels. Some people lack awareness of things like this, though.
When he removed his hand from my tummy, I sat up and made an effort to seem as if I was not impressed. I asked him, "What did you suppose would happen when your error brought five unexpected humans into our lives?"
"Once again, please accept my sincere apologies, Seokjin. This may be the biggest mistake I've ever made in my whole life. On the day that I found out about what had occurred, I went home and informed my husband. To be completely honest, and even though I probably shouldn't say this, I believed that I could ignore it. On the other hand, carrying it out made me feel even worse. I should not have gone to work on that particular day, not that it really makes a difference, but I am sorry. I don't know why your husband picked me to continue being your doctor, but I am really grateful for it since I was prepared to lose my job and license to practice medicine. I promise to do my best going forward."
While he was talking, he had tears in his eyes. Now, why did he have to do all of that? It's not like my life was wrecked because of him; I ended up getting married to a billionaire. Who was off to some country doing heavens know what.
"I welcome you taking the time to apologize; you are right; you did commit a major mistake. On the other hand, I'm happy to report that it didn't turn out to be a nightmare. It is useless for you to continue to be hard on yourself about it since I am sure that man has already made things difficult for you. In any case, I was just wondering whether or not you are pregnant."
"Thank you very much, and yes, I am pregnant," he expressed.
"Figured you were. First child?"
"No, well, yeah. I had a previous pregnancy end in a miscarriage, but this one is going well, my rainbow baby."
"Oh no, I am very sorry to hear that." I was not expecting that.
"Thanks, and it's okay; is this your first pregnancy?" He inquired as he leaned against the wall.
"It is. I'm still not sure what I'll do when they are born. Already, I'm worried that I won't have enough stuff for them when they come. I keep shopping, but I've seen videos that show how fast they grow, which worries me because I don't know if I'm getting the right sizes. I have no idea how I'm going to feed them all. I know I'll need help with them, but I have trouble trusting people around kids, so I don't think I'm ready to hire someone to help. What do you think? Have you thought about everything?"
He came over to me and leaned against the bed I was on. "To be honest, I think about those things too," he said. "By the way, I'm having twins. My husband works like me, so we were having trouble figuring out how to take care of two kids, but thanks to your husband, we've been able to get my parents to move closer to us so they can help out."
"Wait, what did he do?" What did this man do now?
"Oh, he didn't tell you? He gave me $1 million to be your doctor, but I can only treat you, no one else."
With the way my eyes flew out of my head, he did what? What the heck was wrong with him?
"That's interesting; I was unaware of that fact. I take it that this implies I am your only patient today?"
He nodded, "correct."
"Do you enjoy shopping?" There was no possibility that he did not. He had a great sense of style; it was impossible he didn't enjoy shopping.
"I do, but not something I do a lot of-"
"Let's go to the mall, my treat." I needed to go to the mall, but Hoseok was too busy working at someone else's job. Why he was so dedicated to teaching was beyond me.
*****
Jimin had surprised me; he may not have been the brightest physician, but he was a genuinely pleasant person to spend time with. Because we spent most of our time conversing and sitting at a café that I really loved, we could only visit one shop while at the mall. Because he was also from Busan, he and I had more in common than I had anticipated. It's adorable that he and his hubby first met in high school and have been together.
The day went well for me, and I had a good time talking to him. He was coming over to my house tomorrow for us to hang out again. This man had paid him a million dollars to be my doctor meant that he had no other responsibilities but to attend to me. When I told him I was busy packing, he didn't mind coming over, and he even volunteered to help, which I thought was quite kind of him to do.
I had just entered the home when my phone rang, and I rolled my eyes since this man was so impatient. He had previously phoned me about five times, but he couldn't get the idea that I was busy and was preoccupied with something else. Every time he goes out of the country, he insists that we should have a conversation at seven in the evening. I couldn't simply hang around at home and wait for the phone to ring since I had other things to take care of. After setting down my bags, I reached for my phone and answered it.
"Hi, Jungkook; how are you?"
"Hi Seokjin, what were you doing?"
Taking a dump.
That's really what I wanted to say to him.
"I was at the mall; I just got home. How's work?"
"Work is fine. What were you doing at the mall? I thought you had a doctor's appointment."
"I did, I went to it, and then I went to the mall."
He was silent for a moment, then he spoke again, "How did your appointment go?"
"It went well; our Butter Beans are doing fine too," I responded as I walked towards my bedroom.
"That's good. Are you still vomiting?"
"Not so far today; today, I have been fine."
"Did you talk to the doctor about it?"
"I did."
"What did he say?"
"I don't remember; I will ask him again when I see him. Listen, I just got home. Do you mind if I shower and then call you back?"
"That's fine as long as you call me back."
"Okay." I finally got off the phone with him. He was such a difficult guy to deal with. I know he probably wanted to find out what I purchased in the mall, which is exactly why I didn't want to combine our money in the first place. His accountant was likely keeping track of my spending.

Some days later
It was the night before moving day, and I had virtually everything packed up thanks to the assistance of some movers that I had hired. However, there were a few items that I didn't want them to touch, so I continued working on packing them myself.
Jungkook had just left the airport and was on his way to see me at my home. I told him that he didn't need to stop by and that he could meet me at our home in the morning, but he insisted on stopping by.
When I glanced around my closet, I felt quite pleased with all of my efforts. Suddenly, my attention was drawn to a box stored on one of the top shelves. As soon as I recognized what it contained, a bittersweet grin formed on my face. The memories of the wonderful moments surfaced once again. I reached up and got hold of the box, and I had a decent grip on it until his voice scared me, at which point the box fell to the ground, and everything inside of it spilled out.
"Did you know the door was unlocked?" He asked as he entered my closet. His eyes slowly shifted to the things on the floor, and then he looked up at me.
I ignored his stare and tried to bend to pick them up. "The movers probably left it open by accident," I said as I grabbed the nurse uniform and flipped the box over, dumping it back inside and reaching for the other stuff.
"What are these?" he asked while bending and picking up my prisoner costume.
I immediately grabbed it from him, "clothes! Are you blind?"
I felt so embarrassed.
"You wear this outside?" he asked as he picked up a thong which I immediately grabbed from him.
"None of your business!"
Yoongi and I, in the past, had a lot of fun roleplaying. These were personal.
"It is my business; you are my husband."
I put an end to gathering things up and stood up, putting my arms over my chest, and expressed, "Do any of them appear like clothes that I wear outdoors to you?"
"I would hope not."
"Whatever!" There just wasn't enough time in the day for me to do this with him. I went back to my previous strategy of collecting everything and throwing it into the box. When I was finished, I looked at him and asked, "If it's not too much trouble, could you take this box to the large trash can outside for me?"
"You're going to throw them away?" He gave me a curious look.
"Yes, they are not souvenirs."
He took a moment to examine the box before turning his attention back to me and said, "Fine, I suppose you can always get fresh sets once you have kids."
Wait, what?
"What exactly was that?"
"I am interested in seeing you wear them, but it would be ideal for you to get new ones. After you have the baby, we can go shopping for those things, don't worry about it now." He answered, picked up the box, and then left the room, leaving me in great confusion.
On what night of the month would he expect me to wear something like this? I guess I'll have to wait for that schedule, too.
