Chapter Ten
Seokjin's Pov:
I turned over onto my back and kicked my feet in response to the persistent ringing of the doorbell. I toss the blanket to the side and look at the clock next to my bed, wondering who could have possibly woken me up at such an awful hour. It's close to four o'clock in the morning.
I had a hard time getting out of bed, but once I did, I made my way to the front door and disarmed the security system there before opening the door. The annoyed expression that formed on my face when I saw him, there was nothing I could do to hide it.
"Oh, you are at home."
"Excuse me?" I massaged my eyes and leaned against the door while I tried to determine whether or not he was being serious.
"I've been calling you since I arrived from my trip but didn't hear back, so I came by to see if you were home."
He's not for real! "I was sleeping. My phone is turned off."
"Why would you turn off your phone?"
"Because it's my phone, and I pay for it. Anyway, you came, you saw, I am fine. Goodnight." I try to close the door by pushing it, but he blocks it before I can.
"Your communication is poor, Seokjin. I suggest you work on that. Did you sign the agreement?"
I drew a long breath and said, "Jungkook, if I signed it wouldn't you be aware?"
"Why haven't you signed it?"
"Because there's no reason for me to sign. If I sign, it will be for you to have power over my life or treat me like a business transaction like you do everything else within your life. By the way, I have something that I would like to give to you. Hold on just a second." I turned my back on the door and walked away before entering my room, which is where I kept the envelope I had for him.
Upon retrieving it and making my way back to him, I found him inside my house with the door closed, standing with his back against it. He seemed to be more worn out than I was, and judging by the Dior suit he was wearing, I doubt that he went home once the plane landed. He is insane.
"What do you have for me?" he inquired, staring at me.
I handed him the envelope and smiled as I told him, "read it."
He took the envelope from my hand and opened it. He crumpled the paper within a minute of reading and adjusted his posture. "Seokjin-"
"Jungkook, I may not be a billionaire like you are, but I want you to know that you are not the only one with connections to people in high places. You can't just go about telling me what to do and then act like the rules don't apply to you as well. Further, given that I am expecting, don't you think it's reasonable that you keep me informed in advance about the many business trips that you keep taking?
What will you do if the babies or I get sick? How necessary are the trips that you are preparing to take right now? You might want to discuss your plans before going on another trip with me so that I can verify the importance.
If we are going to be married, I would like to know where you are at all times, particularly anytime you are more than fifty miles away from the area where we plan to live once we move in together.
Although I have not yet put my signature on the agreement you and your attorney have sent to me. I have spent the past two days reading it carefully and developing my own agreement, which I have now merged with some of the conditions in your agreement to form a single agreement. After your review and signing, I will sign as well."
I folded my arms across my chest as I awaited his response.
"You created your own agreement?"
"No, I drafted our agreement. It integrates an equal number of your and my requirements. Please let me know whether you'd want me to give it to you for review with a copy to your attorney or if you'd prefer me to send it to you alone."
As he continued to gaze at me, he reached for the two buttons on the front of his suit jacket, undid them, and then adjusted his tie. I leaned against the wall in my hallway to prevent my legs from swaying; Hoseok was absolutely correct in describing him as an attractive man. I would not refute this. Two loose buttons and a loosened tie provoked me to wonder what else could become loose.
"Send me the agreement you prepared, and I will review it. Allow me to fetch my laptop from the car."
Review it now? Is this guy out of his mind, or does he have no concept of what time it is?
"Jungkook, feel free to review it later. It's l-"
"I will review it immediately, as I need this signed and done. This has lasted much too long." He responded, cutting me off as he removed his jacket and left my house to get his laptop. When he is angry, he appears much hotter.
I dislodged myself from the wall and made my way to the kitchen so that I could grab a drink of water. All the while, I was attempting to pull myself together. It was obvious that this was going to be a very long morning. After grabbing a drink of water, I went and retrieved my laptop and sent him a copy of the agreement that I had been working on for the previous two days.
I had put in considerable effort to make the agreement easy to understand. I eliminated and revised many of the wording that did not make sense to me so that it could not be misunderstood.
I may have also fucked with him by providing him with a calendar where he could mark the dates of each month he wanted to have sex. I had every intention of not adhering to any kind of sex schedule, but the devil that resides within me just couldn't help but include what he wanted in the deal so I could watch him work on mapping out a sex schedule.
Seeing three buttons on his dress shirt were already undone when he walked into my living room, took a seat across from me, and opened his laptop was a distraction for me. It was enlightening to realize that he strips due to the intense frustration that he is experiencing.
I was going to save that information away for possible use later.
"Did you send it to me?"
"I did; it's probably collecting dust in your inbox as we speak."
He frowned at me but then returned his eyes to his laptop screen.
"Are you agreeing to marry me if I sign this agreement?" he questioned as he clicked away on his laptop.
"In theory, yes."
"What does that mean, Seokjin?"
"Please take a moment to go through the agreement, Jungkook. Also, considering that it might take you some time, I will return to my bed. Sleep may not be important to you, but-"
"What changes did you make, and what changes did you keep the same?"
"Why should I bother telling you if you're going to have a look at it? In the same way that I carefully reviewed your agreement, I would appreciate it if you would read the version that I have condensed for us. You may send me a text message with any questions you have. Will review them after I wake up, and please don't go walking around my house and touching anything."
As soon as I finished speaking, I stood up and walked to my room, so I didn't give him a chance to answer. I had no intention of keeping my eyes open to see him read. He was attractive, but not to the point where I would have sacrificed my sleep for him.
*****
When I opened my eyes, I couldn't believe it was already ten in the morning. I was not planning on sleeping for such a long time. I probably would not have been awake if I hadn't had such a compelling need to use the bathroom. I managed to get myself out of bed and scramble to the toilet, but regrettably, I was not as fast as I needed to be. I had to take off my clothes and immediately go into the shower since I had an accident while still wearing my underwear. Recently, I've been subjected to this unpleasant occurrence more than once.
Despite this, I didn't let it dampen my mood in any way. I had a relaxing shower since the water was just the right temperature. After that, I took my time to do the morning skincare regimen that I always do. I had bought some creams that I was using on my tummy intended to help prevent me from getting stretch marks and loose skin, and I was hopeful that they would work; however, only time would tell whether they did. If they were ineffective, I would ensure that I get my money back. I didn't like fake advertisements.
After I had finished my routine, which took me over an hour, I walked into one of my walk-in closets and decided to wear a pair of shorts underneath one of my oversized Givenchy t-shirts. Because I wasn't going anywhere, I wasn't in the mood to dress up, and these tiny Bits made it difficult for me to dress the way I wanted to. However, tomorrow I plan to go to the mall to get some clothing that suits me and my pregnancy because I will not let being pregnant make me seem homeless.
Leaving my room, I was headed to the kitchen when the sight of him sleeping on my sofa almost scared me to death. It was a good thing I had emptied my bladder. I had forgotten about him.
When I went into the living room to check on him, he had the laptop propped up on his chest with the agreement on the last page. He was knocked out. I couldn't help but shake my head in disbelief since he was so unlike other people. I carefully removed the laptop from his grip, then shut it off and placed it on the table in the center of the room.
I left the room quietly and decided not to wake him. I couldn't help but think how exhausted he must have been to fall asleep like that. He lives an unhealthy lifestyle. Instead of offering to send me to therapy, he ought to give some thought to doing the same for himself.
*****
I was in the kitchen sitting around the island doing some online shopping when he walked in three hours later.
"Hey," he said as he scanned my kitchen. I watched as his eyes settled on my coffeemaker. "May I use that?"
"You've already made yourself at home; why now request permission?"
"I didn't intend to fall asleep, sorry."
Oh, he knows that word, interesting.
"It's fine, and you are free to use the coffee maker."
"Thanks." He responded and walked towards the coffeemaker.
"You don't want to brush your teeth first?" I had to ask; I mean, he just woke up!
"I already did!"
Oh.
"Where did you get a toothbrush, or did you use your finger?"
"Seokjin, just in case you forgot, I had my suitcase in the trunk of my car."
"Oh, right, sorry. I was just curious."
He didn't answer me as he went to the coffeemaker and started making coffee for himself. When the coffee was completed, he turned the cup to his head and took a gulp of it.
I started to wonder if this was how we would spend our days if we lived together. He probably didn't even read the agreement fully.
It was as if he could read my mind when he said, "I read through the agreement."
"Okay, did you sign it?" of course, he didn't; I had seen the last page.
"After two changes, I'll sign it."
"What changes are those?" I was shocked that he only had two.
"I will name the boys and one of the girls. You can name the remaining two girls. You will have a monthly spending limit of $5,000 for shopping."
I almost fell off my chair. I didn't care he wanted to name the kids anymore, but what the fuck is a spending limit?
"Jungkook, that will not work. What do you mean by a spending limit?"
"I discovered a receipt on the center table, Seokjin. You spent $18,000 at Louis Vuitton yesterday, a considerable amount of money. I may be a billionaire, but I have worked hard. This money was not given to me; I earned it. I will not tolerate you spending so much money on meaningless material items."
I stood up from my chair, "do you think I need your money or an allowance from you to shop? I have my own money-"
"When we get married, we will merge all you and I possess into one. No matter how much money you bring into our marriage, your spending limit will be $5,000. Each year, we will review and, if necessary, increase your limit. I am not stopping you from shopping, I would never do that, but I will not have you spend carelessly either."
I didn't know what to say. Where the hell did he suddenly pull this shit from! Yoongi never gave me a spending limit.
Fine, if he wants to play like this, two can play that game.
"Fine, Jungkook. I accept a spending limit of $5,000. However, after I have our kids, I anticipate that you will strictly adhere to working regular business hours."
"What? Do you realize I am a CEO?"
"Is being a CEO more important to you than being a father? Do you expect me to remain at home with our children while you go to work each day and return at night?"
He set his coffee cup down and straightened his shirt sleeves as he scanned the kitchen with his eyes.
"I will sign as soon as we make these changes to the agreement, Jungkook. I am comfortable with the budget. I understand that saving is caring." He may assign any budget he wants; I refuse to be subjected to a spending limit.
"Seokjin, I will be there for our children, but I will not agree to a set work time. If this is the case, we may terminate the whole agreement." He talked more firmly than I had ever heard him speak since we met. I was quite surprised, to be honest. I believe I had uncovered his true trigger.
I wasn't going to fight with him about it. I knew in due time, I would get what I wanted, "okay, understood. I guess I don't need a spending limit then."
He stared at me with a tense jaw and said, "we will review this issue at a later date. Let's sign the agreement as it is for now."
I could sense that he was frustrated as he stepped in front of me, but it didn't bother me one bit since I knew that if I couldn't get what I wanted, neither could he.
