Natasha's Pov

"Hello?" I said picking up the phone. I had no idea that they would call. Maybe it was an emergency and they were hurt? I sighed. I had knowed them for like 4 months but I was already worried about them.

"Heeeeeeeeey Nat.. I uh, had to settle a deal with the 5 year old. She wants to say high and will probably threaten you. Sorry." I heard the kid say.

"It's alright, I've been threatened before."

"Great! Here's Tamara!" I heard scuffling on the other end of the line and blue (as I called the kid I texted) trying to get Tamara to talk. it was quite funny

"You said you wanted to.. oh sorry Nat. Is it short for Natasha by the way?" Blue asked. I debated my answer before giving it to her.

"Yeah." I said.

"Great, you shall be Tasha so Tamara can say your name easier. She has a big lisp and I do not know how to teach children to speak."

"That's fine. Can Tamara hear me right now?" I asked picking up my towel and heading to the bench in the corner of the training room.

"Yep!" I heard blue say

"yes" and unfamiliar voice also said.

"Hello Tamara" I said hoping she would answer.

"hi... please don hurt y/n" she said. I heard the loudest screech over the phone.

''TAM WHY"

"oh noes"

"oh my god.." I heard Y/N say. At least I knew her name. It was familiar but I ignored it.

"So Y/N," I said. "Well be at the park soon! Got any food allergies?"

"Not that I know of" they replied.

"See you at the park and birdguy says hello. Also if a bunch of people just stand and stare please tell me. Sometimes my friends or work colleagues are not subtle."

"This is getting more and more suspicious.." I heard Y/N say. I sighed

"Look I don't mean anything by this and there just super over protective." I said

"I'm kidding! I am a good judge of character nearly the moment I see someone. I know you won't" I heard her say. She was very good at tracking people and reading faces.

"Bye Y/N!"

"Bye Nat!"

Your Pov

I hung up the phone and stared at Tamara. She hung her head and curled into a small ball. I felt bad for her.

"Hey its alright ok. I was going to tell them anyway." I was not.

"I sorry" she said hugging me.

"its alright love, get some sleep and they will be here soon." I said. I kept my eyes open for other people in the park. There was one man just running around the track but he seemed pretty harmless. He would not hurt anyone unless he had to.

Hardly ever were my speculations proven wrong. Being a good judge of character was so valuable in living where I was. Everyone was the same though. Ruthless, mean, and cruel. On the streets it was different. What coffee shop workers would be annoyed if you sat there all Sunday? Or if the person you were texting was going to kidnap you.

That's why I wanted to meet them in a place that I knew. Because once I judged their character I could know if I trusted them more. Birdguy was very funny and clumsy but had amazing reflexes and aim. I saw him throw his coffee stirrer into the garbage from across the shop. Same with Nat or Tasha. She was so quiet when she moved. Clearly she had done things in the past but was trying to make herself better. I admired that.

I waited about a half hour when I saw them walking up to me.

"Hey Y/N" Nat said.

"Hiya" said birdguy.

"Hi guys! Whats that?" I said gesturing to the basket hanging on Nat's arm.

"Food. You had no breakfast! We have muffins and sandwiches for later. None of you look well fed."

"Touchee" I answered.

"I- nO" sighed Nat. "I give up."

"Whats a muffin?" I repeated my question from earlier.

"Here," birdguy said handing me a rounded top but cylindrical bottom thing that smelled really good. Like apples and something else.

"It's apple cinnamon. Like, it has bits of apple that were baked in it and cinnamon to spice it." He said.

"Do not eat the wrapping." Fair warning, I was wondering if it was edible.

It was amazing. It was sweet and buttery and the apples were amazing. I love cinnamon now. [A/N: sorry if you hate cinnamon or apples] I offered the rest of the muffin to Tamara and broke of a chunk for pup. I was about to give it to her when Nat stopped me by putting a hand on my arm.

"Did you really thing we would only bring one?" I paused contemplating her words. It was what had always happened so I guess I did.

"no?" I said dropping my hand.

"That seemed oddly hesitant" she said rummaging around in the basket she brought to pull out another muffin. This one had blue specks.

"Blueberries!" Tamara exclaimed and immediately grabbed the muffin and ate it. I laughed and pulled the paper away so she would not choke.

"You were hungry" said birdguy holding the bag open for Nat as she looked for yet another thing.

"Ah, here we are. I brought applesauce because a, its good and b, I do not know how good he" When she said this she gestured to the baby "is with solid food. Plus if he does not want it birdguy will eat it without shame."

"That was a good idea. Call him pup." I said grabbing the applesauce.

"Might you have a spoon?" I asked starting to open it.

"Here! Also, are you still hungry?" I was surprised be that question. Normally only Tamara sked me that and I would never answer. Or lie. My look of shock must have not been hidden very well because they pulled out a container. I could not see what was in it but it smelled really good.

"If you are still hungry you should eat." Nat said putting the box next to my knee. I smiled and quickly fed pup. He giggled and started to wiggle hinting that he wanted to be put down. I set him down on a soft spot in the grass and he kinda rolled around till he fell asleep.

I giggled. I looked up at Nat and she was staring at me. Her face was nearly unreadable. Nearly.

"Yes?" I asked. It was clear that she had some sort of question to ask me. Instead she just grabbed the box and put it on my lap and opened it.

"Muffins." She said and pulled a small blanket out of the basket she had.

"May I.." she asked and I nodded. I wanted to see what she would do with pup.

She gently picked him up off the ground and settled him in her lap. Repicking up the blanket she loosly wrapped him in it and offered him back to me. Gently taking him back I set him in my lap and looked around. Shoot. I panicked. Where was Tamara.
