10. The Slap..
INAYAT'S POV:
It took me nearly 30 minutes in the market because I thought it was close by and decided to walk, but Ididn't expect it to take so long. Anyway, I finally got everything, and now we're going to make somedelicious pasta at home. But when I reached home, I was stunned, I saw a lot of smoke coming from thehouse. When I witnessed that scene, I was very scared, and the first thing that came to my mind wasAahana... she was alone at home, and I worried if something had happened to her. With that thought inmind, I immediately entered the house.
I saw that the smoke was coming from the kitchen, and there was fire inside. I called out to Aahana, hoping she wasn't in the kitchen, and that she would hear me and come running to me so I could hugher. But to my shock, when I called out to her, I heard her crying from inside the kitchen. After that, Icouldn't see anything else; not even fire, and I immediately rushed into the kitchen to get her.
There was a lot of smoke. My eyes burned due to the smoke and I coughed and gasped to get air butnone of it mattered. All that mattered was getting Aahana out of there unscrathed so I kept goingtowards the kitchen. That's when I noticed Aahana lying on the floor, almost losing consciousness.Fortunately, the fire wasn't spreading too much, but there was a significant blaze in one area, and sincethe windows were closed, the smoke had filled the kitchen. But the curtains near the windows hadcaught fire too so it was not possible to open the windows.
I saw a cloth near the gas stove that had caught fire, and I was worried that if it continued to burn, itmight cause a gas explosion. So, my first instinct was to remove the burning cloth and put it in thewater. Then, I turned on the tap and grabbed some bottles from the kitchen to attempt to extinguish thefire in the curtains near the door, so I could get Aahana out safely.
While pouring water, my hand accidentally touched a burning part of the curtain, but at that moment, Icouldn't feel any pain because all I could think about was getting Aahana out of there. After emptyingfour bottles, the fire near the door began to somewhat subside atleast now I could get Aahana outwithout burning her.
Then, I attempted to slowly bring her out. That's when I heard her whisper, "Maa... fire... I don't want togo... Maa, come here." I knew that Shivansh and his parents were not living together. They had somearguement and then all the young clan shifted here. I don't know the reason but my investigator foundout this. But now her words brought tears to my eyes; just moments ago, she was so happy, and nowthis. I kept reassuring her, saying, "Shhh... everything is okay, you're safe, nothing will happen to you,I'm here."
As I tried to get her out, she became completely senseless and leaned on me suddenly. I stumbled, andmy arms touched the burning curtains, scorching them. Regardless, I managed to get her out of thekitchen.
When we emerged, I saw Shivansh standing there. I let out a sigh of relief. He rushed over and tookAahana into his embrace. Seeing her safe with her brother, I finally realized the pain in my burned hand, and it was hurting badly. I couldn't bear the pain, so I fell to my knees. The heavy smoke that I hadinhaled was making it difficult to breathe, and I felt myself slowly losing consciousness.
But still I could see Shivansh and Advay bhai, trying to revive Aahana, but she remained unconscious. That's when bhai noticed me and rushed toward me, hugging me. Then I heard him asking Shivansh towait and take me to the hospital. I believe he was taking Aahana to the hospital and hadn't noticed me,which made me somewhat disappointed. However, what he said next broke my heart. He said that hedidn't care whether I lived or died. And that was the last thing I heard before everything went blank.

ADVAY'S POV :
I was working on my presentation when I received Shivansh Bhaiya's call. I quickly received it. But whathe said next made me tensed. He said that Aahana is stuck in fire and is alone at home. He asked me toreach home immediately. From his voice I could say that he was very panicked and worried. I quickly gotout of the office and started the car just then I got a call from Aryan Bhai. He asked me if there was anyproblem because Shivansh bhai just left his place in a hurry on receiving Aahana's call. And then Iexplained him everything.
He insisted to come along but since his meeting was about to begin I asked him to stay and ace that. Iassured him that whatever the matter would be we would handle it and that I will be sure to call him ifneeded. With that I too drove away. While driving all kinds of worst possible scenarios ranthrough my head. And at the same time, I realized how much Shivansh bhai shielded us all, for it was inthat restless drive that I understood it was his calmness that brought us peace. It was his strength thatgave us the courage.
I was just thinking all this when my eyes caught the sight of our home on fire. The smoke was paintingthe immediate blue sky to turn itnro shades of grey. My heart was instantly overwhelmed with fear, andI just hoped that Aahana and Inayat were safe and out of the house.
As I dialed the fire truck and our family doctor and asked them to come immediately; I saw Inayatcoming out of the house and in her arms she potectively had cradled Aahana who had lostconsciousness.
We immediately rushed to them. Bhai quickly grabbed Aahana and began to rush towards the car to takeher to the hopital. I noticed Inayat had fallen to the ground. As I cradled her in my arms I called out tobhai and asked him to wait up for both of them needed to go to the hospital. But he bluntly denied andsimply stated that all that mattered to him in that moment was to ensure Ahana gets taken care of. Andwith that his car pulled out of the driveway.
I couldn't fathom what he just said. How could he not care about Inayat? Had something happenedbetween them? But as Inayat slowly coughed in my arms I realized there was no time to think aboutBhai's behavior right now. I helped Inayat to stand up to take her to the hospital but she denied. Andbefore I could insist or convince her, I saw the car of our family doctor pull into the driveway. We quicklywent inside the servant quarters. He checked Inayat who at this point was barely concious. I briefly letthem to go check on the house, I saw all our servants and the fire fighters and had put the fire and werechecking and addressing the damage. When I returned back to where Inayat was, the doctor met me atthe door. He informed me that she had fainted due to all the smoke she had inhaled and that the burnson her arms was minor and all of it can be treated easily at home. He said all she needed, all that herbody needed was to rest for a while and so he had given her a mild sedative. He also instructed me thatshe should regain consciousness in around 3 hours, if she doesn't she should be admitted immediately. After he left, I took a minute to process all that had happened and then immediately called Bhai to checkon Aahana. He said that the doctors were treating her and once he would have more information hewould tell me. I was relieved to know that Bhai was there with her but still the worry for my little sisterdidn't leave me. Inayat and Aahana both are my sisters and I was very worried for both of them.
Hours passed and Inayat was still unconscious. I sat at her head and kept patting it gently. I also keptcalling Bhai to check on Aahana. Even though I didn't tell bhai I was getting really worried about Inu,doctor had said she should be awake by now and yet she wasn't. As I paced in the room thinkingwhether I should take her to the hospital or wait a little more, Aryan bhai came. I was so relieved. I toldhim all I was worried and confused about and I asked if he knew why did Shivansh bhai behave sorudely.
Before he could answer any of my questions a weak voice scolded us "Kitna bolte ho yaar aap dono bhai" ( How much do you both brothers talk?) Inayat had woken up.
Thank god, she woke up. We rushed to her side and began asking her questions ifshe was okay? If she was having trouble breathing? If we should call the doctor?
But she just ignored our questions and asked "Bhai, Aahana kahan he? Who thik haina? Usse kuch nhi hua na, mein usse kuch nahi hone dungi kabhi." (Bhaiya, where is Aahana? Is she okay? Nothing happened to her, right? I won't let anything happen to her ever.)
I didn't know what to say. If I would tell her the truth I knew she would insist on going to visit Aahana andshe was in no state to go out, she had to rest. Also if she did go to the hospital and if Bhai behaved likehe did before I don't know how she would react. She needed to rest and I as her brother could not seeher getting hurt or putting her health in danger.
So I simply said, "Tum abhi rest karo, Tumne toh mujhe dara hi diya tha, Aisa koi krta apne Bhai ke saath." (You rest now. You really scared me; no one does such things with their brother.)
I looked towards Aryan Bhai for some support."Advay thik keh raha he. Tumhe abhi aaram ki zaroorat he." (Advay is right. You need rest now.)
She looked at us for a brief moment and began crying hysterically saying "Ahana thik nhi haina, isiliye aap mujhe kuch nahi bata rahe Bhai yakeen mane mera meine puri koshishki thi usse aag se dur rakhne ki, mujhe yeh parivaar abhi toh mila tha aur maine abhi hi use chhotpohuncha di. Sab meri galti he mujhe use akele chor ke jana hi nhi chahiye tha." (Ahana is not okay, that's why you're not telling me anything, right, brother? Believe me, I tried my best to keep her away from the fire. I've just got this family, and I've already harmed it. It's all my fault; I shouldn't have let her go alone.)
I couldn't see her crying so I told her that everything was okay, and that Aahana and Bhai were still at thehospital. But she wasn't ready to believe me. She just kept on crying and insisting that if everything isokay then she wants to see her.
Aryan bhai turned towards me and said,"Yeh shaant nhi hoge aise, isko leke chalte he hospital iska follow up bhi ho jayega aur yeh Aahana ko dekhbhi legi. Yahi rahenge toh yeh ro-ro ke apni tabiyat aur kharab karlegi." (She won't calm down like this. Let's take her to the hospital; that way, there will be a follow-up, and she will meet Aahana too. If we stay here, she'll keep worrying and worsen her condition) I nodded in agreement.

INAYAT'S POV:
I got ready in 15minutes I wore a full length kurti with baggy hands to hide my burn and thenbhaiya gave me some medicine to take. We then left for the hospital.
Aryan bhai stopped the car at the entrance of the hospital and told me to go inside, saying that he would park the car at the parking and then join me. Advay bhaiya also went with him. I entered the hospital and inquired at the reception about Aahana. They informed that she was in cabin number 134, which was ofcourse a VVIP cabin.
I entered the cabin and saw Aahana lying down, possibly asleep, with Shivansh sitting by her side, holding her hand. He appeared deeply lost in his thoughts, so much lost that he didn't even notice my presence.
To get his attention, I cleared my throat. He slowly turned towards me, and his eyes were red and moist, indicating that he had been crying for hours. However, his expression suddenly changed, and he stared at me with anger.
He stood up from his chair and began to approach me then grabbing my arms he dragged me out of the room. Thankfully, he was holding the arm that hadn't been burned; otherwise, it would have been extremely painful.
After we left the cabin, Shivansh abruptly left me, shouting, "Tum yahan par kya kar rahi ho?"(What are you doing here?).
I was shocked by his reaction, as everything seemed fine until last night. I asked him, " Hua kya hai apko? Aap chilla kyun rahe hain? Hospital mein hai hum aur Aahana andar soa rahi hai so please behave yourself." (What's wrong with you? Why are you yelling? It's a hospital, and Aahana is inside, asleep. So please behave yourself).
This only seemed to make him angrier. He came near me, folded his hands across his chest, and said "Apna yeh drama band karo and abhi ke abhi yahan se nikal jao. Yeh jo bhi kuch ho raha hai na sab tumhare wajah se hi ho raha hai. Aaj meri behen ki jo halat hai uski zimmedar sirf tum ho. Yeh sab tumhara hi plan tha na pehle ghar mein aag lagake usko fasao and then usko bachane ka natak karke sabke saamne mahan banjao. Isn't it? Lekin tumhara yeh plan fail hogaya hai. Toh apna yeh munh uthao aur nikal jaao." (Stop this drama of yours right now and leave immediately. Everything is happening because of you. My sister is in the hospital because of you. Wasn't this your plan, to set her on fire and then save her to make yourself look great in front of everyone? But your plan failed. Now, get out of here.)
I was in shock hearing him. I had not even in my dreams thought that he would be accusing me of harming Aahana whom I considered like a younger sister. I was angry, but I managed to calm myself down.
I approached him and held his hand, saying, " Shivansh yeh kya bol rahe hain aap? Aapko khudko samajh mein bhi aaraha hai jo aap bol rahe ho?" (Shivansh, what are you saying? Can't you understand what you're saying?).
He yanked his hand away and said trying not to yell, " Inayat yeh drama band karo aur abhi ke abhi yahan se chali jao. Mein iss baare mein ghar jaake sabke saamne tumhare saath baat karunga. Filhal mein yahan pe koi scene create karna nahi chahta. Toh isse pehle ki I lose my temper just leave." (Inayat, stop this drama now and leave. We'll discuss this at home. I don't want to create a scene here. So, please, before I lose my temper, just go.)
I felt hurt by his words, and it seemed like he couldn't hear me. I could see his anger in his eyes, which he couldn't contain. He started leaving from there but before he goes back into the room, I grabbed his hand and pulled him towards me.
I looked into his eyes and said, "Shivansh kal takk toh aap bol rahe the that you like me..okay even if it was for the family lekin aapne yeh kaha toh tha na. Kal takk toh apko bharosa tha ki mein apke family ka bahut ache se khayal rakhti hun phir aaj kya hogaya? Aap yeh sab kyun bol rahe ho?" (Shivansh, you said yesterday that you liked me. Okay, even if it was for your family, it's fine. But until yesterday, you believed that I cared for your family. What happened today? Why are you saying all this?)
He forcefully pulled his hand away from me and yelled, " Just shut up Inayat wo sab bass natak tha tumhari asliyat sabke saamne laane ke liye. But you know what that was probably my biggest mistake. Agar kal raat ko hi tumhe ghar se nikal diya hota toh aaj jo hua wo kabhi nahi hota. Inayat mein ladkiyon pe haath nahi uthata warna kabka tumhe khud dhakke maarke yahan se nikal diya hota. Ache se bol raha hun chali jao yahan se isse pehle ki mein gusse mein aake kuch galat kardu."(Just shut up, Inayat. It was all just an act so I could get close to you and reveal your true self in front of everyone. But that was probably my biggest mistake. If I had thrown you out of my house last night, none of this would have happened. Inayat, I don't raise my hand against women, or else I would have dragged you out of here by now. Please, before I do something in anger, leave.)
He yelled so loudly that hospital staff gathered around. Just then, Advay bhaiya approached us, and by his expression, I can tell that he had heard everything.
He came forward and asked Shivansh, "Bhai what is going on? And what did you say just now? I mean why? What happened?"
Shivansh looked at bhaiya and sighed, placed his hand on his shoulder, and said, "Advay, please don't ask anything right now. Go home and take her with you. I'll come and talk to everyone later."
Advay bhai simply nodded and held my hand, indicating that we should leave. However, I stopped him and said, "Advay Bhaiya, give me 2 minutes. Koi bhi mujhpe kuch bhi accusations lagade aur mein sab sunti rahu I'm not like that. Now this conversation needs to happen right here and right now."
With this determination, I approached Shivansh, grabbed his collar, looked directly into his eyes with anger building up inside me, and said, "Shivansh yeh sab mazaak nahi hai. Nah hi pyar mazaak hai aur na hi mere feelings jiske saath tum khel sakte ho. Chalo thik hai tum mujhse pyar nahi karte pasand nahi karte okay fine I wont force you, lekin you just can't blame me of harming Aahana." (Shivansh, all this is not a joke, nor is love a joke, nor are my feelings something you can play with. Fine, okay, you don't love me; leave it. I won't force you. But you cannot accuse me of trying to harm Aahana.)
Upon hearing this, Shivansh became even angrier and tried to free himself from my grip, but I held onto his collar tighter and told him in a bit loud voice, "Meri baat abb takk khatam nahi hui hai. Seedhe khade raho."(My conversation isn't over yet. Stand still.)
From his expressions I could see that he was shocked seeing my behaviour. And he stopped moving. Honestly even I could not believe that I was doing this.
But I just put these thoughts aside gathered courage pulled his face closer and continued emphasising on each and every word " Yeh ek mahine mein maine Aahana ko apni choti behen maanliya hai. Aur abhi uski tabiyat kharab hai aur iss halat me..mein usko chodke kahin nahi jaungi. Aur mein abhi andar jaungi." (In this one month, Aahana has become like a sister to me, and I won't leave her behind. I'm going inside.)
With that, I released him with a jerk and began walking toward the room.
However, what happened next left me in shock. Shivansh pulled me back with a great force and slapped me hard, causing me to stumble. Thankfully, Aryan bhai was present there and he caught me. I felt everyone's eyes on me, which was incredibly embarrassing. I just could not process what happened just a few seconds back.
He raised his hand on me. He slapped me. I was still processing my thoughts when Aryan bhai let me stand on my own, and he appeared ready to confront Shivansh in anger, but Shivansh raised his finger, signaling him to stop, and said, "Aryan, if you're here to support her, better stop now. I don't know if our relationship will survive this."
He then turned to me kept his eyes on me and continued telling him "If you believe in her so much, take her to your home, but keep her away from my sight." His voice was full of anger and hate.
Then he approached me and said, "Yeh jo bhi sab hua hai aaj tumhare wajah se hua hai. Aur isse pehle ki mein tumhe yahan se ghasit te hue dhakke marke nikalu apne aap nikal jao. Aur aajke baad kabhi bhi mujhe apni shakal matt dikhana aur mere bhai behen ke paas aane ki toh bilkul kosish bhi matt karna" (Whatever happened today is because of you. Before I forcibly remove you from here, leave on your own. And from now on, never show your face to me, and never attempt to come near my siblings.)
After that, he came closer to me and said in a menacing tone, "Aur agar maine tumhe kahin pe bhi humare aas paas dekha toh tumhe jaan se maardunga. Aur jo mein bolta hun mein karta hun." (And if I ever see you anywhere near our vicinity, I will kill you. And I do whatever I say.)
With that, he turned and started walking back but then I came to my senses and called him in a very loud voice. He stopped in his way but didn't turn around. But still I said, " Tum Shivansh Kapoor meri baat dhyan se sunlo..mein dubara tumhare zindagi mein aur tumhare ghar mein kabhi wapas nahi aaungi...tum bulaoge toh bhi nahi. Kabhi nahi " (Shivansh Kapoor, listen to me. I will never go back to your house or your life again, never. Even if you yourself call me back.)
When I said that he turned back but I didn't even looked at his face and moved out of the hospital.
