Chapter IX: Involvement and Lies

The night is in one of its darkest moments, lathering the whole sky of one side of the earth with its darksome shades. And the bright full moon stood high in the dark sky, illuminating the lonesome city with it's natural radiance

However, even if the sky looks so pleasant, it doesn't mean that down onto the face of the earth is the same. Because within one of the alleyways somewhere in the lonesome city, there's a thick layer of tension lingering in the air of that alley

Rapid footsteps echoed throughout the narrow pathway, creating fast tapping noises whenever the soles of their shoes came in contact on the cement ground. A guy dressed in his best beige business attire was one of the sources of the rapid footsteps; and the noises continues for he refused to stop and remained hot on his heels

Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. His heart banged ferociously against his ribcage as if it would burst out of his chest because of the adrenaline invading his veins. And the breaths he lets out were short, sharp and quick that it almost synchronizes from every hurried step he'd take

Sweat from the man's damp hair sprinkled in different directions when he spun his head around, daring himself to look behind. Even if he's aware that the person chasing after him terrifies him to his core. Because the person chasing him was sent to kill him. And just by thinking about it already makes his insides unpleasantly churn along with his blood going cold as ice

But he never felt so damn thankful and relieved in his entire life when he spotted no one behind him, no one was chasing after him anymore. He felt like the weight was lifted off his shoulders, and the slightest smile crept on his lips when he thought that maybe... just maybe, he could survive from her death list...

Unfortunately, no one has ever survived her death list... only a miracle could make it possible...

Yes, the person that was sent to kill him was a female, but she was not just any ordinary female. There's something about her and the aura radiating from her was enough to tell you that you shouldn't mess with her. And even if she mostly has a stoic face, she has those icy and cold stares that could give you either goosebumps or chills; maybe even both

She works as an agent of an agency. She's one of the agency's topped agents, wields the title of having the most kills, and ranks the highest in the section she's in, the assassination section. And the agency is known to do crimes among crimes, and do the ruthless doings among the ruthless doings

And he fucked up real good with that dangerous agency, the Pyromania Agency, or PMA Agency for short

And unfortunately, the relief and hope bubbling inside him right now is actually his last chance to experience it. He didn't knew that the female assassin actually leaped up high off the ground before he could whisk his head to look behind him. She leaped up high enough to clasp both of her fingerless gloved hands onto the neck of a nearby old lamppost, and swung herself up to perch on top of the neck of the old rusty post

The lamppost softly groaned under her weight. Its structure may be old and rusty, but it's sturdy enough to balance her weight; however, it wouldn't take long for it to collapse. So she leaped off from the post before it could even happen, and land ontop of a parked container truck located just a meter away

An just like a black leopard jumping off a tree, she effortlessly landed on the truck and quickly rolled forward when her feet touched the parked vehicle: To lessen the chances of making any ruckus

Then once she was back on her feet, she took a brief glance back to her prey. The strands of her hair may be blown to her face because of the wind as she continues to run, but she didn't miss the fact that there's only almost two meters away from each other

She then decided to end this wild goose chase. Still on top of the long-ass parked truck, she landed a quick yet firm step on the truck with her left foot, then pushed herself off the vehicle by kicking onto the wall with the other

Like the predator she is, she leaps into the air and doing a full front-flip off the truck with just a swift turn of her body. Then lands perfectly on the ground on the soles of her feet with a cloud of dust

And all of those basic stunts happened before her prey could even turn his head back to his front

The small and visible smile playing on his lips immediately vanished. And he quickly stopped on his tracks, but not without skidding forward for a second. Luckily, he didn't stumble onto her frame, but he was utterly terrified, His blood pumping muscle skipped an entire beat, and his eyes grew in fright upon seeing her

The moonlight radiating from the bright full moon above illuminates her dark look. She wore her signature sleeveless and black leather jacket over her short-sleeved and crimson red singlet with a connected mask which covers the lower half of her face; then some black skinny ripped jeans and black combat boots

Her hair was done in a high ponytail which swayed to the side when a gust of wind blew past her, which made it look like a fiery scarlet flame dancing within the wind; thanks to her hair dyed into a strikingly red colour

"P-Please..." He stuttered, evidently petrified to the bone when she took a baby step towards him

The beads of sweat on his forehead multiplied, and he could feel his heart banging against his chest. He stared straight into the dark blue voids found in her eyes with his shaking pupils and unsteady breathing

And he could've sworn that even in the dark, he saw a smirk crease on her mask before she hung her right arm down to her side from hiding it behind her back. Her purely made steel cuff glistened under the moonlight

He grew pale from the sight, his blood run as cold as ice, and his eyes grew that it nearly popped out of their sockets upon seeing the device. She nearly laughed from the petrified look plastered on the face of her prey; the feeling of seeing her victims being scared never failed to amuse her

Her prey screamed on the top of his lungs and turned on his heels to run the other direction when she charges towards him with an unbelievable speed. Once again they're on the run, and as she was quickly catching up to him from behind, her cuff was already activated and finished on transforming its embedded miniature crossbow

She locked her gaze to the back of his head while they remained hot on her heels, then aimed the arrow loaded onto her miniature crossbow to where she's looking at

Then with quick movement of her hand, the arrow was launched with a thin lightweight chain tied on its tail, and it flew so fast that it wasn't fast for the naked eye to possibly see. And she aimed it right at the back of his head, so that's where it went

Her prey stumbled down and skidded onto the cemented floor with a pool of blood immediately forming on the ground once he lied flat on his stomach, lifeless. She slowed down her pace, and a beep on her earpiece was heard once she has fully stopped her feet from running

"SK here" She replied upon placing two fingers on her earpiece to answer the incoming call

"It's S16, Any updates?"

She chuckled with a smirk under her mask and flicked her dark blue orbs to her victim, "Mission of terminating, Alfred Wang?" She retracted the arrow of her crossbow from her victims head, back to her miniature crossbow on top of her cuff

"Mission complete" She replied...

Kathy's s POV

"Okay, hold up--what?!" Jin-ssi exclaimed in disbelief after hearing my explanation about last night

He looked at me, completely shocked. He sat on the seat that's on one of the short ends of the rectangular dining table, while I sat on the corner seat beside him

"Are you serious?!" He exclaimed once more

I looked at him with a calm look and pressed my lips into a line, then simply nodding in response. I swept my gaze towards the table to look at the rest of the other members

Jhope-ssi sat diagonal from me, he was staring at me with wide eyes with his jaw dropping slightly. Jimin-ssi is sitting on his left, who's habitually laying his head over his crossed arms on the table, and also staring at me in disbelief, ofcourse

V-ssi sat across from Jin-ssi and on Jimin-ssi's left. He's having a coughing fit after choking on his water after hearing my explanation, and he's currently slamming a fist to his chest to force out those that are left in his lungs. Luckily, Jungkook-ssi was sitting beside him and softly patted his choking hyung on his back

Suga-ssi, on the other hand, also sat on the corner seat beside Jin-ssi which is across from me. He is leaning onto his chair with his arms crossed, and stared at me in aghast with wide eyes

And lastly, the leader, Rapmon-ssi, who sat between me and the Golden Maknae. However, he may show an obvious stare of disbelief, aghast and shock, but he also has a look that's somewhat telling me that he has something running in his mind

His brows are slightly furrowed, looking like he's deep in thought. He's leaning on his chair with crossed arms while his head turned to me. And his attractive monotonous eyes that's under his classy round glasses were focused on me when I gave him a brief side-glance

Anyways, the BTS and I actually just finished having a very delicious and heavenly made lunch which was amazingly cooked by the hands of Jin-ssi. The dining table is now clean after we all helped on tidying it up, and the place as well. And my explanation about last night started when Jin-ssi called us to gather on the table after cleaning

At first, I was getting swallowed by my anxieties while my heart raced from legit nervousness. But they all vanished when the members said to me to keep it slow if I become uneasy. And some said to take my time, and also reminded me that explaining everything isn't really necessary, unless I wanted to

I wasn't even expecting them to give me a chance to explain myself -- I was more expecting that they would avoid me -- so it felt very overwhelming that I couldn't help but smile brightly at them in response, to which they returned

After that, they shushed each other before telling me to start whenever I'm ready. And like I was told, I began to explain to them everything that's only connected to what happened last night

I also included the existence of Seohyun, but I address her with her codename. Same goes for Wang Eun, which is Agent 1. And I also told them about the PMA Agency or the Pyromania Agency, which is where Seohyun, Eun, and I worked for. However, I didn't mention my connections towards the two and the agency

Well, Rapmon-ssi knew that Seohyun was my best friend because of last night when I was sleep-talking, but that's how far he only knows. It shouldn't be a big of a deal

(A/N: I've been editing a lot with da past chptrs, and I recommend u to read Chptr 4 once again, since I added a few things there)

"Okay, let me get this straight..." Jin-ssi spoke, causing all eyes to fall on him, "So basically, this PMA Agency that you're talking about is after you and sent one of their agents to do the job, which results on why you have the Agent 1 guy and the archer S16 at your tail" He stated

I nodded

He continued, "And they've been lurking around when you're just at the moment of waiting for your friends back in the airport?"

I saw Rapmon-ssi slightly shift on his seat from the corner of my eye. He obviously got uneasy after mentioning the word airport, knowing that we haven't included our encounter back at the airport in my explanation just yet

I wondered why is he so uneasy about it, but I just carefully placed a soft hand (the hand of my injured arm) on his knee and give it a reassuring grip. I could feel him calming down a bit and gave me a small glance, but I didn't spare him one and just nodded my head in response to Jin-ssi

"Exactly" I chimed and gave them a light smile, even if it's not the right time to do so

Jhope-ssi then spoke up, "How are you sure that they're only after you, and not Joon or anyone else on this plane?" I rose a brow, and he quickly added, "I'm not saying that I don't trust your words- it's just because our leader nearly got shot last night..." He trailed off

Carefully taking my hand off Rapmon-ssi's knee, because of my injury starting to sting with pressure, I placed it back on my lap and softly smiled at the other member

"It's fine, Jhope-ssi. I understand what you mean" I reassured, giving him an eye smile, "But for my answer... Yes, I'm sure that I'm the one they're after" I stated in all honesty

Liar...

"But how are you sure that they are only after you, and not us?" Jin-ssi asked, coming from beside me and added, "And why is the agency out to get you?"

Suddenly, I felt my heart quickened after hearing his words, and my small smile slowly drops. That's a good question.

Leaning on my seat, I let out a deep sigh that was encaged within my lungs as I could feel my heart banging against my chest. And my chest then tightens, that it hurts to breath from the tension I've been trying to hide inside me

With my heart beating fast, I parted my lips to speak, "It's because they wanted me to join their damn agency, they've been longing for me to join them through the years" I stated

Liar...

They remained silent, and I continued to explain, "They've done nothing but track, search and hunt me down for the past 8 years of my life, and I'm aware that they are trying to find me and also know that this situation will happen. But I wasn't expecting that they will find me that easily. And now that they have finally found me after all these years, God knows what they're planning to do"

Then there was silence. I huffed out a slight breath, balling my hands into fists on my lap in process. I tried my best to look calm even if my heart is going crazy inside my chest, but suddenly I felt my heart jump. Not in anxiety, but rather in surprise when someone wrapped their large and attractively veiny hand on one of my fists, engulfing it with their warmth

I briefly glanced to my side, realizing it was Rapmon-ssi's hand that's over mine. He has a soft look on his face, and I just stared at him. My fist loosens under his hold, resulting for him to give me slight squeeze. From that moment, I couldn't help but feel touched from his warm gesture, I needed it

I also felt fuzzy inside when I saw the bracelet he wore. He kept the rosary bracelet I gave him...

"What exactly does this PMA Agency do?" Jimin-ssi took the opportunity to ask, breaking the silence and make me look at him

He sounded curious, but I could see the fear swimming within his doll-like-eyes. But luckily I can't answer that, it's confidential and complicated that they won't understand. Plus, it's good for them to not know either

"I... uhm... can't answer that, it's confidential. Joesonghaeyo (I'm sorry)" I apologized, timidly bowing my head, "But I think the assault that happened last night was enough to give a hint on what does the agency really is about" I pointed out, and Jimin deeply exhaled after my words. He's obviously scared after realizing it

"Uhm... Noona?" My ears perked up from hearing the voice of the Golden Maknae

We turned our head to the youngest maknae to see him shyly raising a hand

"Can I ask a question, Noona?" He briefly rubbed the back of his head

I nodded, "Ofcourse, Jungkook-ssi. You're more than welcome to question anything you want" I assured him and he shyly laughed in a cute way, "And please, I'm not used being called Noona. Call me either Kathy, Kath, or anything you want, aside from honorifics" I added and genuinely gave him an eye-smile

"Kathy, right... I just want to ask about the Crossbow Cuff?"

My heart skipped a beat, "My Crossbow Cuff? What about it?" I asked, almost immediately

Rapmon-ssi may have noticed my fast response, and gave me one last squeeze before reeling back his hand. I shrugged the feeling of the lingering warmth on my hand since my hands were cold that time

"Me! Me! I also want to know something about your cuff, Noon--I mean, Kathy" V-ssi cheerfully butted in, seeming to be excited to learn something about my Crossbow Cuff

Unknowingly, my lips were formed into a small smile, knowing it's been awhile since someone become excited about my cuff. They reminded me about the trainees of the agency in the past, which were mostly 6-10 years old, the expression the two maknaes were similar to the faces that the children made back then

Everyone, once again, remained silent while I talked about my Crossbow Cuff. I told them that it's made in titanium steel, and even if it looks like steel because on how polished it is, it's not

Rapmon-ssi was the one who got shocked on that part after handing me my cuff back, he thought it was pure steel when he first saw it. He was wrong, though

Anyways, after I was done explaining, I didn't realize on how fascinated they all were after telling them the mechanics on how a miniature crossbow was embedded to my slightly thin cuff

They also wondered on why it wasn't detected by the metal detector at the airport; simple, I have a chip installed on my cuff to shortly shut off any detectors I come across from anywhere I go

They were fascinated indeed, especially the two maknaes and I didn't even knew I had encouraged them to handle these kind of devices, to the point that they want something like my cuff. However, I immediately said that it's inappropriate for them to have something that's similar to my cuff, and the other members agreed as well which left the maknaes to reluctantly agree

My explanation lasted until Suga-ssi called,
"By the way, Kath" His lazy and low voice spanned to my ears

I turned to look at him, the others did the same thing, then the creepiest thing happened. He threw on a smirk, and gave me a look, a look that's telling me that he's up to something.

I furrowed my brows, What are you up to Snow White?

"You haven't explained to us on why you have Joon's headphones. You said to me that you'll also explain that us" He cheekily said and playfully winked before throwing on his signature gummy smile

I froze on my seat, and immediately placed the hand of my un-injured shoulder to the ear components wrapped around my neck, completely forgetting I brought it along with me. My head then turned to look at Rapmon-ssi, who also just turned to look at me, and we exchanged looks

"Joon, Kathy, Is there something you guys aren't telling us?" Suga-ssi teasingly asked, and we both shot him a glare but he just laughed at us

Rapmon-ssi and I then glanced over to the other members before I shyly laughed while scratching my cheek with a finger; and the leader scratching the back of his head, sheepishly. And that's when we both told them the story of our first encounter back at the airport

Shutting my phone off with a smile after having a short chat with Lori and Karen, I stuffed my phone in my pocket and walked out the guest room close. And closing the door after

The plane have finally landed onto the surface of the country South Korea. And I just finished fixing my things and equipment in the guest room

Earlier after lunch, the explaining session ended with a few teasing of here and there after Rapmon-ssi and I told them our encounter at the airport. But they seem to be cool after my whole explanation and they promised not to tell anyone aside from me and the BTS group

Bang-nim, the BTS' manager, came in the dining area earlier just to inform the near landing of the plane. He was confused when he saw us all sitting in the table, but he shrugged it off when the Golden Maknae told him that we were just getting to know each other. And that's when we all exited the dining area for them to go to their bedrooms while I was guided to the guest room

I adjusted the strap of my string bag since only one of my arms are available to use, and also adjusted the headphones around my neck. Turning on my heels with my hands in my pockets, I marched down the hallway to the lounge area where everyone else are

And when I got there, the staffs and crew were already getting off the plane; however, the BTS and Bang-nim stayed behind and waited for their crew to completely get off the plane. I walked up to them, and they all turned their gazes to me

"Well, I think it'll be a while until we'll see each other again, Kath" Bang-nim offered a handshake which I accepted, "It was nice meeting you and safe travels on exploring Korea, Kath" He said and smiled

I bowed down after shaking his hand and watched him walk out the plane. Then I turned to face the BTS members, with a smile on my lips as I gave each member a brief glance

"So I guess this is where we part ways?" Jungkook-ssi asked, catching my attention as he rubbed the back of his head

I chuckled, "I guess it is, Jungkook-ssi" I agreed and ruffled his hair

He laughed with his signature bunny smile, and I smiled back, "But don't worry, I have a feeling we'll see each other in the near future" I said, enlightening the mood a
bit

"By any chance, will we see you in our upcoming concert?" Asked Jhope-ssi

"Gosh, I'm not even outside the plane yet, but somebody wants to see me already?" I joked with a laugh, and Jhope-ssi laughed along, "But ofcourse! I'll even promise to wear a full glow-in-the-dark outfit so you guys can see me in the crowd"

The group let out a hearty laugh, and left them with grins on their faces after, even Suga-ssi who's so silent as we were talking. Typical Yoongi

"And I guess this is goodbye?" I heard Jimin-ssi say, and held out a hand for a handshake

I parted my lips as an attempt to speak, but Rapmon-ssi beat me to it, "I think not. Plus, that's not what she typically says when she meets someone new and they have to leave" He pointed out and looked at me, "Right?"

I chuckled and nodded my head. But instead of reaching for Jimin-ssi's hand, I pinched his cheek, and he bursted into cute giggles. Letting him go, I looked at the whole group and huffed

"Well, it was great being with you all" I smiled, "Till we meet again, guys" I said in farewell with a slight bow before turning on my heels towards the door

But suddenly, I was yanked backwards and I was caught off guard when I was engulfed with warmth, only to realize they pulled me into a big group hug. I couldn't help but laugh from their heartwarming gesture to me

I guess I'm going to have a great start on staying here in Korea...

"Ow! Okay, watch the arm"

"Ah, sorry..."
