Sweet Nothings
"Barbie, I want to be like you. Can you show me how to be like you please?"
Khushi entered the room and saw her daughter sitting on bed with a plate of Jalebis and her eyes glued to the TV. She shook her head in disbelief.
Khushi - Aaru, enough TV for today. Now switch it off.
She was to grab the remote before the little one hid it, anxiously jumping up and down.
Aarushi - Mumma, jush shee thish. Peeeesh.
Her mother couldn't help but smile at her cutiepie who looked most adorable with that pout of hers. She sat beside her and pecked her.
Khushi - O my jaan, you know I love your peeeeesh, but no. You can watch it tomorrow. Now c'mon, go play. Your Bua was calling for you.
Aaru grimaced as her peeeesh didn't work in front of her mother. Their mother seemed to be immune to their cuteness, in contrary to their father.
She climbed off the bed and ran to her Bua with her Barbie and her plate of Jalebis. Anjali was knitting in the lounge and talking to Nani. Aarushi kept her plate on the table and stood in front of her aunt.
Anjali - There is my sweetheart. Aaru, I'll make a pink jacket for you. And yes, I'll write Barbie on it. You'll wear it na?
She kept the already knitted back of the sweater on her niece to confirm the fitting. Aarushi nodded and then grinned widely. The latest Barbie episode fresh in her mind.
Aarushi - Anji Bu, I teech (teach) u be like me.
Anjali - Uhm, Aaru, baby, what?
She frowned not quite able to understand her. Aaru smacked her head lightly like her mother and then explained to her.
Aarushi - U wan be like me? Shay yesh.
Nani smiled gigglishly and Anjali had to suppress her laughter too.
She did understand her language but wasn't able to figure out how and why Aarushi wants to teach her how to be her. But kids often do things you don't understand. So she just nodded and went with it.
Anjalj - Yes, I want to be like my little Barbie..
Aarushi - Gudh. Fasht, u eat moa. Shee thiiiish jebish? I eath all. Sho u be me, u eath all.
Nani affectionately admired her great grand-daughter who rubbed her tummy and then pointed to the plate. Anjali chuckled at her niece, she loved this little foodie so much.
Anjali - I'm sure I can't ever be as much a foodie as my cutie but I can try.
Assuming she's asked to eat Jalebis from her plate, she forwarded her hand to grab one piece. But it never touched the Jalebi as a tiny hand smacked hers before that.
Aarushi - Uh uh. No theesh. Theesh mine. Be like Aalu lesshon, Aalu no sheah foo!
She took her plate and gulped her Jalebis down while Nani and Anjali stared at her in amazement.

Khushi was on her nightly patrol of checking on kids one final time before going to sleep herself. And as she approached the door, she noticed the bump in front of it. Of course she didn't miss the legs looking out from below it. She could clearly see Arshi's black lower.
For a moment it was hard for Khushi to control her laughter but she couldn't allow herself to laugh out loud or her little one would find it funny too and do it again.
So keeping her hands on her hips, she stared down at her hiding kiddo.
Khushi - Hmmmm, I came to see if my babies are sleeping but since Arshi clearly isn't here anywhere or under the carpet, I suppose I should not check their room and go back.
And with that she walked two steps back and just moved her leg to have her anklets make noise. Once the noise stopped, assuming that her mother is gone little Arshi removed the carpet off herself and saw her Mumma standing right next to her.
Arshi - Oooopsh.
And with that she slowly moved the carpet onto her face again. Khushi sighed and nodded in denial.
Khushi - Ooopsh ki bacchi. What are you doing here?
She bent down and carried her up into her arms. Arshi stared her flabbergasted.
Arshi - No hide fom u.
Khushi - Oh, I see. Why were you below the carpet then?
She looked around for a moment and then as if composing herself, raised her brows in attitude.
Arshi - I am Alshi Shingh Laizada. I do wat I wan.
Khushi - And I am your mother. If I say you must be sleeping right now, then you better not be out of your bed.
She walked to her room with her daughter still in her arms and opened the door despite the struggles of the little one.
Arshi - I am Alshi Shingh Laizada, no do thish to me. I sheep when I wan. Un-shtan?
Khushi kept her on the bed and crossed her arms around her chest, glaring at her daughter who then in response gave her a toothy smile.
Arshi - I jush joke Mumma. I sheep now. Gudh nait (good night).
She laid down pulling the quilt over herself and Khushi giggled internally. At least this Laad Governor was afraid of her.

Khushi woke up to the sound of crying sky and yawned looking beside. Her heart skipped a beat for a second as the bed was empty. She had put twins to sleep and was tired herself too, so had napped along.
Khushi - Arshuu, Aaruu
She got off the bed ready to run out but stopped spotting the kids out at the poolside. But she was everything else than relieved. Akshay and the twins were playing out in the rain, they were all wet and doing something with Arnav's pots.
Khushi - What are you three doing there? Get in right now! You'll get sick.
She walked out to them. They looked up at her and grinned.
Arshi - We shee wom (worm).
She grimaced and bent to pull them up but jerked back as Arshi took a worm in her hand and stretched her arm out to show it to her.
Khushi - Iiieh, put it back. Right now!
The three looked at the worm in Arshi's hand and then frowned.
Akshay - Massi, are you scared?
He grinned devilishly and Khushi gulped but nodded in denial. She knew they'll use her fear against her.
Khushi - No, not at all. I'm your mother, I'm not scared of anything.
The three looked at each other and then smirked.
Arshi - Ok Mumma, no shkea? Hea, hold wom.
She stood up and forwarded it for her mother to hold. Khushi jumped back shaking her head.
Khushi - Arshi! I don't want to hold it. It's raining and you'll get sick. Come in right now, am warning you!
They giggled and got up to scare her. Khushi gasped and stepped back flaring her nose though.
Khushi - Laad Governor, if you don't keep this thing down right now, you'll see the worst of me.
Akshay - You can't scare us. We have wormie!
He laughed sticking his tongue out. His parrots giggled following his lead and Khushi gaped at them in disbelief.
Khushi - You are all Laad Governors, won't listen to me and always have to go against me. I won't talk to any of you.
They looked at each other and then smiled at her, giving in to her authority. Arshi kept wormie back down.
Aarushi - Oh ma shweet Mumma. Now gudh?
Arshi - Wormie back, we lishen. Shee.
She sighed and signaled them to move in. Following them she knelt down and pulled them in her arms feeling immensely loved.
Khushi - You are all my sweet babies.
Akshay - I'm a boy, don't call me sweet. I'm a dude. I'm no baby.
Khushi looked at him raising her brows and then pulled his nose to which twins laughed.
Khushi - Dude you are outside, in here you are my sweetheart, my baby, my cutest Akshiii.
Arshi - Bhai shiiiiii
Arshi teased and laughed. Khushi joined in the laughter and got a towel out of cupboard to wipe them.
Khushi - Now I will have to change you. You are all wet, if you get sick your father will sit on my head.
"What is this?"
Speaking of the devil!
He entered his room and was furious to see water dripping down from all of them. He kept his bag on the bed and turned to Khushi who was wiping Aarushi.
Arnav - Khushi, what is this? Didn't I prohibit you from taking them out in the rain? Stop being so filmy and dancing in the rain. You know they fall sick very easily, and so do you!
Khushi looked at him angrily for he would not even let her speak and assumes whatever comes in his mind. But the junior ASRs were angrier than her.
Akshay - Mister! Don't speak to my Massi like that!
Aarushi - Badh Daddy.
And before Khushi could say anything to them, junior Laad Governor ran out to the poolside and returned within a blink. Holding wormie in her hand she stretched her arm up towards her father to scare him. The other two stepped beside in her support.
Arshi - No shay Mumma nothin, o (or) wormie shkea.
Arnav just frowned in confusion. Khushi looked at Arshi giggling and hugged her from behind, kissing her protector baby.
