A Blaster Fight Under a Thousand Degree Sun
Your pov
"Ghoul, what's going on?" I asked, pulling him into our bedroom, away from Brendon.
"I... uhm..."
"You've been acting so weird lately, are you okay?" My hands held his.
"Of course I am, just, Brendon's been getting on my nerves. I don't trust him."
"I know you don't. But, just for now, he's staying with us. Just for now." He smiled.
"That's a promise?"
"Yeah, I promise." I smiled, he kissed my hands. We then went to bed. His arm was wrapped around my waist. Those hazel eyes were stuck to mine.
"Sweetheart?" I hummed, "I love you, so so much." He pulled me in for a tight hug, then kissed the side of my head.
"I love you too."
"Baby I just, I don't wanna loose you. Not again." I pulled away and smiled.
"Don't worry, you're not gonna loose me. I promise." He smiled once more before sleep took over both of us.
Waking up, the sun shone bright. My body held this nasty, sticky feeling. The kind of feeling you get in the summer when the heat is overwhelming with no source of air conditioning. Desperately, I tried pulling the covers off, but the arms around me made it difficult.
"Ghoul... Ghoul..." He hummed, "Ghoul... I think there's a heatwave... you gotta get up..."
"Sweetheart, there's no heatwave... let's just stay in bed..."
"Frank..."
"Agh, fine!" He moved around a bit, releasing me from his grasp. Finally, I pulled away the covers. My clothes had been completely drenched in sweat. Gross...
"C'mon, you can't lay in bed all day. You'll sink into the mattress and never return."
"Is that something you tell Buttercup?"
"No... maybe..." He sighed, rolling over, "You're drenched in sweat. Ghoul, you have to get up!"
"Alright! I'll get up, eww, I'm sticky..." He whined, sitting up.
"That's from the heat. I'm heading to the showers." I began getting up.
"Can I join you?"
"Ghoul..." He then got up, standing close to me. A smile snuck up onto both our faces.
"K/j/n..." He kissed my face.
"Oh god, you stink so bad..."
"Really? I smell bad? No offense, but I think you're the skunk here." I rolled my eyes.
"C'mon..." My hand held the collar of his t-shirt, walking towards the bathrooms.
"Momma! Momma, momma, momma!"
"Buttercup!" I let go, "You're out of bed..."
"Yeah! Poison, Kobra, Jet, and Sandman are here!"
"A-"
"Hey, there you are, I found you!" Kobra cried, walking towards us, "Oh hey guys, where've you been?"
"Sleeping, why are you here so early?"
"Early!? It's twelve o'clock..." I looked to Ghoul, "You guys really shouldn't be sleeping so much in the middle of a heatwave. It's not good for you." He said, then walked off with Buttercup.
"Well, I'm gonna go change then..." I began to walk off. Ghoul stood there for a moment.
"Wait," He began following close behind, "Does this mean we're not showering?" I smiled.
"No, not while everyone's here," I took a few more steps, then looked back at him, "But, maybe later..."
"Is that a promise?" He smirked.
"It can be..."
"Cool..."
Quickly, I changed into a fresh set of clothes. He did too. We then joined the others out in the living area. The both of us sitting together on the couch with Poison and Jet while Brendon and Sandman stood around the tv.
"... yeah, and he took out the dracs like they were fuckin' cockroaches! He just kept shootin' at em'!" Poison said.
"Who are we talking about?" I asked.
"Ghoul..." He explained.
"Yeah?" I looked to my love.
"It was no biggie."
"No biggie!? You took out like, a hundred dracs on one canister! While Kobra and Jet were wounded!"
"And where were you during this whole thing?" I asked Poison, leaning into Ghoul.
"U-"
"He was entertaining a guest in the backseat of the trans am." Ghoul explained. I giggled.
"Seriously?"
"It was Candy Cane! She's something else, man!" He cried.
"Candy Cane?" Sandman asked, "I was with her for awhile!"
"Okay, you get it then! She's great!"
"Oh definitely, she's hot."
"See! I couldn't just, not do stuff with her!"
"Even when your best friend is surrounded by hundreds of dracs!?"
"Matter of fact, yes! You had Jet and Kobra!"
"Dude, we got shot." Jet said.
"But you're okay now..." He said as Buttercup and Kobra wandered in, sitting with us.
"Momma!" She climbed up and sat between Ghoul and I, "Kobra is so good at hide and seek! He was hiding behind my bed. I didn't see him even though I looked there!"
"Yeah?" She nodded.
"Congrats Kobra, you've become the champion of hide and seek against a four year old!" Sandman clapped.
"Um, actually, I'm five! I'm a big kid!"
"Five?" Sandman turned to me, "You said she was four."
"That was over a year ago, Sandy."
"Right..." He sighed, "Agh! This heat is killing me!" He cried.
"Maybe you should lay off the whole black and edgy get up." Ghoul spat.
"Please, it looks better than a worn out jacket with tears in the pants."
"I look better than you ever would."
"Ooooooo," The boys said, and me. Sandman just scoffed.
"That's right, don't mess with me." He smirked.
Throughout the rest of the day, we sat around talking and complaining about the heat. Another strange sense of euphoria flooded the room. Even Brendon was having fun. Until the boys got into a kerfuffle.
"... I'm the best shooter! I'm Party mother fuckin' Poison!"
"Poison," He looked to me, I nodded towards Buttercup.
"Right, sorry kid."
"Please, just cause you're the most popular, doesn't mean you're the best shot! I'm way better!" Ghoul cried.
"No, I am! They don't call me Mr. Sandman for nothing," We all went silent, "Mr. Sandman? He puts you to sleep?"
"But you're not-"
"It's a metaphor! I'm putting you to sleep forever!" I'm not entirely sure that's a metaphor, but aight...
"Did you see me on our last mission! I'm the best shot!" They went back and forth for a moment until I broke in.
"Boys... boys..." They finally calmed down, "May I suggest, a little competition?" Immediately, they were all intrigued, "We'll do it downstairs, using Twinkies!"
After a few minutes, the Twinkies has been set up on a cardboard box. Each boy stood beside each other while Brendon and I stood to the side. Buttercup stuck with Kobra, until it was his turn.
"It's funny how competitive they get." He said.
"Yeah, it's fun though. Gives me something to do for the day."
"This one's for you, baby!" Ghoul pointed to me.
"Knock em' dead!" I cried.
"How long have you two been together?"
"I dunno, a week or so, I guess," I explained, "C'mon, Ghoul!" I cheered as he shot.
"That's right, every single one. Dead center!" He smirked, stepping back to watch the boys.
"So, Y/n, are you guys really close?" I looked to him, eyes wide. Wait... what'd he just say?
"What did you just call me?" I asked, sternly.
"Uhm..."
"You just called me by my name! My real name! You..." I got up, "You're faking, aren't you!?" The other boys looked over. Brendon's innocent eyes then turned sinister.
"Took ya long enough..." In an instant, every blaster in the room was pointed towards him, except for Sandman's.
"Brendon, you better have a good fucking reason for them not to kill you right now. Why are you here?"
"Oh, I just missed you so much, baby doll." He stood up, attempting to caress my cheek. I pulled away as Ghoul stepped closer.
"Don't fucking touch her."
"Kobra, take Buttercup, go upstairs, and hide," I commanded, then knelt to her size, "Pumpkin, I need you to hide in the best hiding spot you can find."
"The best hiding spot!?" I smiled from her enthusiasm.
"Yeah, the best one! Don't tell me where it is. I'll come find you soon."
"Oh, we're playing hide and seek?" I nodded, then kissed her head. There's a good chance I'll die...
"Go on pumpkin, I'll come find you in a moment," I stood back up, "Kobra, keep her safe." He nodded, and they ran off. Then Brendon began again.
"Ghoul, don't worry, I'm not entirely here for my doll face," His gaze went to Party Poison, "Korse technically sent me for you. But, I couldn't resist." His eyes were back on me.
"Stay away from me!" I began towards Ghoul, but a gun had been pointed my way. Sandman's gun, "You too? You're in on this?" Ashamed, he nodded his head.
"Sandman, please, I know you don't actually feel sorry," He stepped towards Sandman, "My little spy..." His hand caressed Sandman's cheek, "Too bad Kobra ain't here to see this."
"Boss, I think you're forgetting someone..." He nodded towards Ghoul. My eyes went soft, staring at him.
"You too?" I mouthed, heart shattering into a million tiny little pieces. My eyes became teary.
"It's not like that!"
"Oh it's quite a story," Brendon stepped towards Ghoul, who's gun stayed on Brendon, "This guy figured it out about a day or two ago. He didn't tell you."
"Princess," My teary eyes looked up to him, "It's not like that. I wanted to tell you!"
"Then why didn't you!?"
"Cause he said if I did, he'd kill you. I can't loose you. Never again. Sweetheart, listen to me, please..." I wiped away my tears, "Please..."
"You really think she'll believe you after all that?" He chuckled, "I don't think so. Sandman, gun!"
"Sandman!" Ghoul called, "Don't do this. You don't have to do this! I know we have our differences, but you don't have to listen to him! Please..." Sandman looked to Ghoul, hesitant, then gazed over to Brendon.
"I'm... I'm so sorry guys..." Brendon smirked, "I'm sorry I betrayed you. You guys are really cool, and K/j/n, I'm sorry I was such a jerk to you. That was all Brendon."
"Just give me the gun!"
"Shh! Let him finish!" Jet cried.
"Yeah, I worked for him, but since I've taken this undercover mission, I've realized that you guys are so cool. Somehow, I even formed my own team. I'm sorry for everything I've done to you guys, that was under Brendon's orders. But I'm not sorry for this!"
Instead of handing Brendon the gun, he shot the man's shoulder. Everyone stared in shock. Brendon fell to the ground from the impact. A burn mark was now sported across his shoulder.
"What the hell are you doing!? Pete! We're buddies, c'mon, you can't do this! You're my friend!"
"Brendon, you only used me to get to her. You don't even like me!" Sandman stepped closer to the man on the floor, he only scooted back, desperately trying to get away, "You took credit for my idea! I was the undercover man! Not you! I-" We all went silent as a little device went off.
"... I mean, we only sent him on this mission to get him outta my face... that Brendon is so annoying..." Finally, Brendon pulled out the device, furious, "Brendon! Hey-"
"I heard that."
"Heard what?"
"You don't actually like me!? But I've done so much for you! I'm about to die right now!"
"It's the circle of life." He then threw the device at the wall angrily so it broke.
"Now you know how I feel." Sandman's grip around the trigger tightened.
"You're not actually going to kill me, are you!?" He began to panic, "Y/n, baby, don't let him do this!"
I had nothing to say. My thoughts were so clouded with thoughts of Ghoul, Sandman, and everything that had happened in the past few minutes. The room was extremely tense as Sandman was merely seconds away from pulling the trigger, when I stopped him.
"Wait..." All eyes went to me, and Sandman's grip loosened on the blaster, "He's-"
Before I could finish, Brendon grabbed at the gun. Successfully, he pointed it to me. My eyes went wide, but he didn't hesitate to shoot. And neither did Ghoul. Brendon fell to the floor, his side now burnt.
"Oh Y/n, are you alright?" Ghoul hugged me tight as tears escaped my eyes. I nodded, "I'm so happy you're okay..." He pulled away, then kissed me sweetly.
"He's still breathing..." Jet said, checking Brendon's pulse, "What should we do?"
"Leave him in the desert. He's Destroya's problem now." I said. Destroya will decide if he lives or dies today...
Poison and Jet took him out somewhere in the desert. Sandman went home while Ghoul and I went to find Buttercup and Kobra.
"Buttercup? Where are you?" I whispered, walking around the living area. There was a quiet giggle from behind the tv. Sending a "shhh" towards Ghoul, I stepped towards it quietly, then peeked over.
"Found you!" I cried.
"Momma!" She jumped up out of Kobra's grasp to run to mine, "What took you so long!?" She hugged onto my legs, staring up at me.
"Your hiding spot was so good! Good job!" Then, I turned to Kobra, "Thank you, a lot happened down there I just, didn't want her to see."
"What happened?" He asked.
"Buttercup, why don't you go play with your toys?"
"Okay..." She waddled off. Ghoul and I explained everything, he seemed completely shocked.
"Sandman...? But he's like, my best friend! I would've... I should've known!" He cried, thinking everything over.
"It's fine, Kobra, he's on our side now, anyways." Kobra took a seat on the couch, still taking it all in.
"And Brendon... they were... shit..." He looked to us for a moment, "I-I gotta go..."
"Jet and Poison took the trans am," Ghoul explained as the sound of it pulling in filled the room, "I guess they're back..."
"I'm heading out, bye guys, don't sleep too much, it's not good for you to sleep in the middle of a heatwave." He said before running downstairs. As I stared out the window, they all drove off. Leaving Ghoul, Buttrcup, and I as the day turned night.
"Oh baby," Ghoul hugged me from behind, kissing up my neck and face.
"Thank you, for saving me."
"Aw, that was nothing. Besides, I did say I wasn't gonna loose you again." I turned to face him.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah..." He pressed his lips to mine, "I'm so in love with you..." I giggled.
"I'm so in love with you too..."
"Eww..." Buttercup had wandered over to us. Ghoul let go of me as soon as he saw the child, "Momma, can I watch cartoons?"
"Sure..." I smiled, she ran off, sitting on the floor. Taking Ghoul's hand, we joined her, but sat on the couch. As the show played, Ghoul's eyes were on me. They held a look I had never seen before.
"What are you staring at?" I asked.
"You..." I smiled, hand still in his. The show ended, and I turned to Buttercup.
"Buttercup, I think it's time for you to go to bed."
"Can I just watch one more?"
"Not tonight, c'mon."
I picked up the little girl, walking to her room. Ghoul followed close behind. The two of us sat on her bed as she lay with her little stuffed animal. I kissed her head, singing her favorite lullaby. This time, Ghoul sang along.
"Goodnight, pumpkin, I love you."
"Goodnight, momma, I love you." I smiled, turning off her little lamp and taking Ghoul's hand in mine. We snuck out the door, shutting it quietly behind us.
"Oh princess," Before we even made it to the couch, Ghoul was all over me, "You're so beautiful..." He whispered, kissing me everywhere he could. I giggled, then held his cheeks in my hands.
"Frankie, why don't you go get the shower ready? I'll join you in a moment." His eyes lit up, then he kissed me hard.
"Wait, are you sure? We don't have to."
"I want to, besides, I promised you, didn't I?" He smirked, stepping away from me.
"Alright, I'll get the shower ready..." His eyes were on me for about another minute before he turned around, running towards the bathrooms. I love him... so so much...
