Chapter 2

February 12, 2017
4:30 PM

The brothers were sitting atop the apartment roof, blank faces as they stared at the cars and people passing by. There was a comfortable silence between the two, not a word being exchanged whatsoever, simply the gentle breeze of the air.

Almost as if on cue they simultaneously raised their heads up. "Ya done?" Darnell asked Devin in a skeptical tone. "Yeah, let's head back inside" Devin said, the two got back up and dusted themselves off and walked back into the building. They walked downstairs, truly they wanted to teleport but they couldn't right now. Not because they were afraid to. No, not at all. It was because if they did use one of their 'gifts' one more time they'd have to run again. But that's just what happens when you reveal yourself, and they hated that.

The brothers walked inside their apartment. The door was left wide open, but they were unconcerned. Nobody dared steal from them, not after what happened to the last group who tried. Apparently word spread around quickly in this neighborhood cause after just one week of finding that group and breaking 103 of their bones, every time they walked through the neighborhood they were either treated with respectful gazes or Death Glares. The ladder was the more common one.

They sat down on their couch and turned on their tv. The brothers turned on their PS4 and began to play WWE 2K 17. In their gaming they shouted out area codes, football drills, and name-brand clothing. This was something that only a select few knew about the fraternal twins.

They were complete clowns at heart.

After a lot of rage quitting, celebrations, and almost breaking the controllers the brothers decided to finally turn off the game. Devin got up and walked to his room leaving Darnell in the living room to take a nap. He looked around and gave a sigh. The room was horrible, cracks all over the wall, a ceiling light that would flicker on and off for no reason at all at random points in the day, and the occasional mouse that snuck its way in the house. But he didn't sigh because it was down right unlivable, he sighed because he was going to miss it in a way.

"Time to move out" he said gloomily. He walked to the corner of the room and grabbed a bag that was just laying there and collecting dust. He picked it up and violently shook it as the dust spread around. He coughed in it and closed his irritated eyes as some specks found their way into them. He set his bag down and began to go to his small drawers and take out his clothing and shoved them into the old bag.

Darnell was laid down in the living room. He felt so guilty, if he hadn't fought Necro then they wouldn't of found them, they wouldn't of had to run again. Sure, he enjoyed the action but this was one of those places he was starting to call home. He should've never let the thought go to his head, if he didn't then it wouldn't of hurt as much. He sighed and got up and gloomily walked to his room. He had some sense and didn't make any friends in this neighborhood, mainly so their life wouldn't be in danger and partly because a nagging voice in the back of his head wouldn't allow him too.

He walked to his room and grabbed the bag near his bed and just stuffed his clothes in not bothering to dust it off. He walked back to the living room where Devin awaited. "So when're we leaving" Darnell asked him sitting down. "I don't know, I thought that you decided" he responded. Darnell and Devin deadpanned at each other. They got back up from the couch. "We should go grab a bite to eat before we leave" Devin said. Darnell grinned at him. "Fuck yeah we should" he said.

Devin chuckled, "Darnell do you kiss our mother with that mouth?" He asked with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips and arms crossed. Darnell scowled and punched him in the shoulder hard. "Chill I'm just playing" he said rubbing the spot where Darnell hit him. Darnell scoffed. "Whatever, let's go get some Popeyes" Darnell said. He and Darnell nodded and walked out the house.

The walk to Popeyes was short and only lasted a minute or two. "You wanna go in?" Darnell asked Devin. "Hell no! Do you see how crowded that place is?!" Devin asked leaning back slightly. Darnell shook his head and walked in. Devin was bored and walked into the parking lot. "Gonna miss you New York" Devin said to nothing as he walked to the side walk. He leaned on the lamp post and closed his eyes and began to think to lost in his own world to notice the outside

A black car turned the corner. The passengers were wearing all blue, the man in the passenger seat next to the drivers held a mossberg 500 shotgun in his hands. "Look. There he is, it's the muthafucka that broke Lorenzo to pieces" the one in the back said.

"Yo, roll down the window" the other guy in the back told the driver. He obliged and rolled down the gunmans window. "Smoke his ass, Louie" the driver said to the gunman who's name was apparently Louie. "Don't have to tell me twice" he said as they drove close over to the side walk, slowing down the car so Louie can aim accurately. Louie aimed the gun at Devins head who appeared to be oblivious.

BOOM

The sound rang out through the neighborhood as the the driver stepped hard on the gas the car speeding away.

"Ay we got that son of a bitch!" The driver said grinning. "Hell yeah! C nation don't play around with no cats in here" Louie grinned triumphantly. Their smile soon vanished as they noticed that someone was sitting on the top of their car due to the legs resting on the window. "Yo who the hell is that?!" The driver asked panicked. "Hit the brakes!" Louie yelled out. The driver took his foot off the gas pedal and slammed both down on the brake, so hard that Louie's face slammed into the dashboard and he fell unconscious due to not wearing a seatbelt.

But they got their intended result as the figure flew off the top of the car. However said figure landed on his feet firmly facing away from the car. "Yo who is that?" The driver asked. "I don't know! Run his ass over Bobo!" The passenger said. Bobo complied and stepped on the gas and headed straight for the figure, however their heart skipped several beats when the figure kicked his leg back and stopped the car completely. "You guys must've been feeling really lucky today" The figure said turning around and revealing himself to be Devin. Their heart stopped for a moment and they stared in fear.

Devin had to admit, they caught him off guard with the attempted drive by. He sensed their life force but didn't think anything of it at the time until he heard the boom. The shells moved in slow motion towards him in his eyes and he simply walked past them and hopped on the car and went along with the ride for a couple of minutes. But they noticed him-Finally. It was time to exact a little punishment.

The loud boom of the shotgun was enough to clear out the entire Popeyes of customers. It was a huge relief to Darnell and he walked straight to the front and ordered his food. Devin came in 5-10 minutes later. "Where have you been?" Darnell asked him. Devin just looked at him and said, "We gotta go. Now" he said to him. Darnell knowing what he meant nodded quickly and walked to the counter and gave the cashier who presented their food $60 and took the large bag holding the goods and quickly walked to their apartment. "We gotta go! They'll be here any minute!" Devin said. Darnell and Devin grabbed their bags and attempted to teleport miles but something stopped them. They turned to each other. "They're here" They said at the same time
