Leah Clearwater- Time (h)
The silent treatment had always been somewhat of a sure-fire way to get the point across that you were annoyed or upset.
If you weren't talking to someone and were blatantly ignoring their attempts at a conversation, then it was pretty obvious that something had happened.
You never had been one for arguing or even for disagreements but when they did happen it wasn't very amicable afterwards.
Of course, in a relationship, there was always going to be some form of argument that just didn't go down well.
You and Leah had been in one such argument.
You had always been aware of the fact that Sam and Leah were together in the past, but Sam was your friend and he was happy with Emily just as you were with Leah.
However sometimes it seemed as if Leah just wasn't over Sam; the ways she'd look at him from time to time, as if she was just waiting for him to leave Emily and run straight back to her.
You'd never once thought Leah the type to cheat nor Sam but when it got to the stage of Leah cancelling dates, getting annoyed at you for being around Sam when she wasn't there and just being unnecessarily difficult.
It had been just over a couple of weeks since you'd flipped your lid at your girlfriend and she'd done nothing but try to get in contact with you, but you weren't prepared to talk to her about anything as you knew she didn't really get why you were so upset.
You knew it was slightly childish to ignore her like this but to you it made sense.
A knock on your door startled you as your parents were out so you had no clue who it could be.
"Come in! Whoever it is."
The door opened to reveal Leah, looking rather nervous.
You sighed, crossing your arms. "What're you doing here?"
"Oh, so you're talking to me now?" she questioned as she walked into the room.
You rolled your eyes at her comment. "You know full well why I haven't been talking to you."
"It was one argument Y/N! And you're the one that hasn't responded to me."
"Because you made me feel like I meant nothing Leah!" you exclaimed at her. "I was trying to tell you how I had felt for the past few months and yet you dismissed it like it was nothing."
She shook her head. "I didn't do that, all I did was tell you that you had nothing to worry about."
"I'm not worried Leah – I know you wouldn't cheat, and Sam is in love with Emily," you saw the flash of pain in her eyes when you mentioned Emily and you felt your heart sink.
"Exactly so why are you so caught up on me and Sam when you know I wouldn't cheat?"
Sighing, you stood up to be opposite Leah. "You are still caught up on Sam, Leah and you know it. I can see it in your eyes – you never looked at me that way and I have been so happy with you, but I'm not going to compete with Sam even if he is engaged."
"Is that really what you see?" she asked, and you could hear the upset in her voice.
When you nodded, Leah sighed before sitting down on the edge of your bed.
"I thought I was over him," she stated, and you sat down next to her. "We were the fresh start I needed but I can't convince myself of something I guess."
You rubbed Leah's back comfortingly and offered her a smile. "I'm still your friend Leah, you're not losing me in that way."
She smiled. "You always were too good for me."
"You just need time Leah, and time will help I promise you."
