Gently, thossed into Twilight

Nala and Elodie are sisters and have been orphans since Elodie's birth. Abandoned by their mother and their father making no claim on them, to two ended up in a group home. Nala, now aged 16 sees it as her job to take care of her younger sister Elodie, but she knows that, alone, Elodie stands a much better chance at being adopted as she's only 6, and Nala is very well aware that no one wants to adopt a teen. But what happens when they end up tossed into a fictional world? Will they finally find the family they deserve? Will they stay or will they attempt to get home?

Nala's P.O.V
"Happy birthday Elodie." I whispered as I tucked my little sisters blanket away from her face. It was still relatively early in the morning, the sun just beginning to make an appearance over the horizons tree tops.

"Happy birthday." She whispered back, which made me chuckle. It was her sixth birthday, which meant she would be starting school next year.

"Elodie, wake up. I have a suprise for you." I whispered making sure to be as quiet as possible, to not wake the other four girls who shared the room with us. Elodie's little brown eyes sprung open at the mention of a suprise just for her.

"A suprise, for me?" She whispered excitedly as she sat up on the edge of her bed, which was the bottom bunk to mine. I nodded with a grin as I took her hand and put a finger to my lips as I led her out of our shared room and into the hall. We tip-toed down the hall, past three other rooms, filled with boys and girls of all different ages. All of us without families or homes to call our own.

I led us quietly past the matrons room where her snoring could be heard through the closed door, and into the kitchen.

"Sit up here and close your eyes." I said as I picked her up and sat her on the metal bench in the middle of the kitchen as she squeezed her eyes shut and slapped her little hands over her face. I quickly walked around her and to the large metal fridge. I opened it and retrieved a huge pink iced cupcake from a tray full of them, before grabbing the candle and lighter I'd set out. I quickly returned to my younger sister and held it out on my hand between us as I lit the candle I'd hastily shoved on top of the cake.

"Alright. You can look now." I said smiling gleefully as she dropped her hands and opened her eyes. I'd never seen her smile so brightly as her whole face lit up in joy.

"Is it for me?" She asked in excitement as she stared at the rare delight. I laughed and nodded. We were never given sweets, the matron always ate them.

"Of course silly. Happy Birthday. Now blow out the candle." I said as I continued to stand in front of her with the cupcake perched on my hands. Elodie smiled brightly and took a deep breath before blowing out the candle.

"Make a wish." I said quickly as I watched her close her eyes tightly, her brows scrunched together as she concentrated.

"Do you wanna know what I wished for?" She asked as she opened back up her eyes as I removed the candle from the cake and placed it on the bench beside her. I shook my head.

"No cause if you tell me, then it won't come true." I said as I gave her a soft smile while I handed her the cake. She giggled as she opened her mouth as wide as it would go, and took a huge bite of the sweet smelling cake. She giggled in glee as she chewed and offered it out to me. It nearly fell out of her tiny hands as I chuckled at the pink frosting covering her face, and took the sweet. I took a bite myself and we smiled at each other as we ate, crumbs and frosting everywhere.

"What the hell is going on!" The gruff voice of the matron yelled from the entrance of the kitchen as the light flicked on. We froze and Elodie's eyes widened in fear as she dropped the remained of the cake and clung to my arms with her crumb covered fingers. I picked her up quickly and held her on my hip as I spun to face the red faced, matron.

"I'm so sorry matron. It was my idea it won't happen again." I said quickly as Elodie hid her face in my neck and shoulder, clutching me tightly. The matrons angry look brunt holes in me as she marched across the kitchen in her nightgown. She gripped my shoulder length brown hair in her left hand and pulled forcing a hiss from my lips, but I dare not cry out.

"You bet it won't!" She snarled as she pulled me by my hair, out of the kitchen and into the hall as Elodie whimpered in fear and I gritted my teeth at the pain. The matron bunched her fist and hit it agaisnt the wall a few times.

"Everyone up! Now!" She yelled angrily. Quickly the boys and girls of the group home scurred out of their rooms and into the hallway in fear. The matron pulled me forward and into view.

"This is what happens when you disobey my rules!" She said as she pulled a large iron key from a deep pocket in her nightgown. My eyes widened as the boys and girls around the hall scurried to the side as the matron marched through them, dragging me behind, to the daunting door at the end of the hall. She shoved the old key into the dark wooden doors lock and swung the door wide, before shoving me in. I stumbled but caught myself to avoid falling onto of Elodie, who was now silently crying into my shoulder.

"No food for three days!" She said before the door was slammed shut and locked tight. The cold, dark room was the only one in the old house that had no window. It was where she put misbehaving children. I quickly stumbled to the spare mattress on the floor and sat down, pulling Elodie a little from my body to look at her.

"Hey, your okay, its gonna be okay." I said softly as I tucked a piece of her brown hair behind her ear. She nodded as she sniffled, wiping her nose and eyes. Regardless of her nod she continued to cry into my shoulder for the next ten minutes before she had cried herself to sleep. I laid her down on the mattress as I stood up to stretch my legs.

How could I have been so stupid? The cupcake was such a stupid idea! This is all my fault. I shouldn't have done anything! The other half of my mind was telling me it was worth it for the brief moment of pure joy I had seen on my little sisters face for the first time in her whole life. I sighed as I turned around to face Elodie as she curled up in her sleep. I stepped over her before laying down on the mattress beside her. At my presence she rolled over and snuggled into my side as I wrapped an arm around her and closed my eyes.

I shuddered in my sleep. I was cold and almost damp, my back ached. My eyes shot open in fear as I realised I wasn't holding Elodie anymore. I sat up and looked to my right to find her curled up beside me and I sighed in relief. I smiled softly to myself as I reminded myself that she was safe, she's okay. I stopped. What the hell? I looked up and around us as I suddenly noticed we weren't in the lock room anymore, we were on the floor in a forest. In the middle of nowhere!

I quickly shook Elodie's shoulder as I stood up my eyes darting around us, trying to figured out where we were, if we were safe.

"Nala?" Elodie asked softly as she sat up, rubbing her eyes tiredly. I quickly crouched down and pulled her by her hand to her feet, gripping her tiny hand in mine tightly.

"Elodie stay close." I warned as I looked around us in fear and confusion. Had matron taken us somewhere while we slept? Abandoned us in the woods to die?!

My head whipped around at the break of a twig I quickly pulled Elodie to me as we spun around.
