ix. a way to say goodbye

Déjà Vu.

Déjà Vu was a feeling that most individuals had out of the blue. The familiarity of a situation that they swore they had been through before tingled against the human sense like a bird's feather on a foot. They tickled. It happened very quickly, the sensation. An odd overwhelming feeling that shook you to your core then as quickly as it started . . . it stopped.

Experts thought that Déjà Vu was just something tied to your recent memories. Experts like those people in the laboratory, that tested on little kids, believed this theory wholeheartedly. But a little boy-a miracle-found the sense to be oddly supernatural.

Subject Twelve had been familiar with Déjà Vu.

It was a feeling he gotten a lot whenever he came close to the future-the future he had seen in his small but terrifying predictions-a future he'd wish he could forget and forgive. But he couldn't. And that's what terrorized him the most.

No matter how much he tried to pretend he never got the feeling of that tingly feeling down his back-or along his arms-the feeling of Déjà Vu always found a way towards him.

It was a feeling he went through now as Mike suddenly hopped up from his seat on the bleachers next to Eleven-or El-Twelve's sister. Immediately Twelve got that feeling-the emotion of worry invaded his senses and he could tell that it was coming from Mike specifically.

Twelve, who was sat next to Lucas with his head on the boy's shoulder, tried to stay awake while he sat comfortably. After what he had seen the in bath, or what was left of Barbara Holland, he couldn't stop shaking for a moment. Twelve had never, never, seen a dead body became so mangled and . . . decayed before. This . . . it all was too much for him. He hated seeing dead people, or just blood in general, and wished after the events of this. To never see them again. Though he never thought or said this out loud. He kept his weaknesses, like these, locked in a box where no one could touch them.

But luckily, after Joyce had left, Lucas was there to comfort him. His hand rested on the subject's back until he stopped shaking so violently-and even then he still had his arm around his shoulders. Pulling him in closer so he wouldn't be scared anymore.

Lucas's posture was hunched as the Wheeler boy walked out the doors but he suddenly straightened up when he noticed that Twelve had started to become uncomfortable it seemed. Or at least, he seemed uncomfortable by the way he started to squirm a bit. "You okay?" The Sinclair boy asked the smaller boy who shook his head.

"Really . . . tired." Twelve spoke in mumbles that Lucas almost barely recognized. He'd never seen the boy this tired before, it was truly . . . concerning how grey his skin was and the bags that suddenly formed. Or how cold he was despite the giant towel wrapped around his torso.

Lucas chewed on his lip, "Do you still hurt from earlier? On the bus?"

Twelve nodded. The pain of using his gifts never went away sometimes. Well, they did. But it would take hours for that to happen and the only pain that went away was his insufferable migraine that formed again after he got out the bath.

Lucas frowned at this. He didn't know any way of actually being useful or helpful to Twelve in this situation. He didn't like to see him hurt, like at all, but he didn't know what to do.

Just then Mike stormed back into the gym, making everyone turn to him. "They're gone."

"What?" Lucas asked, now sitting up a bit.

"Nancy, Serenity and Jonathan. Their car is gone."

Dustin rolled his eyes, "They're probably just sucking face somewhere."

Vee furrowed his brows, "Sucking face?" his lip was also put up in disgust by the vague but weird combination of words. How would one . . . suck face?

"Gross," Lucas grimaced at the thought.

"No. No way!" Mike shut down.

"Did they go with the chief?"

"I don't know!"

"No." El said, very flatly.

Mike turned to her, "What? Did you see them? Do you know where they went?"

El turned to Twelve for a moment. As soon as she gave him that look, the boy took off his towel and everyone turned their heads to him. His eyes closed, he started to look. Nancy, Serenity and Jonathan? He searched for them, a feeling, an emotion, just anything until he saw them. Once he got enough information, he opened his eyes slowly. Blood ran down his nose as he let out a breath of pain it seemed.

"Demogorgon." Twelve answered Mike's question with a flat tone.

Mike then looked at everyone with more worry than he had before.

𓄇

"Guys, guys! This crazy. We can't just wait around." Mike started to argue with Dustin and Lucas. Ever since Twelve looked for the two teens-Mike had gotten feral about his sister and was demanding that they helped them or at least did something.

Twelve sat on the bleachers with his towel over his back, with his knees to his chest. He rocked a bit back and forth trying to keep away the pain that settled in his ribs. El was right next to him holding his hand rather tightly as they watched the boys debate.

"Mike, in case you forgot, we're still fugitives. The bad men are still looking for us," Lucas made clear. As much as he wanted to go and help Nancy(which he honestly really didn't, he just wanted to keep Vee safe) they couldn't just go out there blindfolded.

Dustin nodded, "Yeah, and we don't even know where your sister is."

"El and Vee can find them!" Mike pointed to the two.

"Mike, look at them!"

Everyone turned to the two shivering on the bleachers with each other. El's face was rather gray looking as she rested her head tiredly on Vee's shoulder. Twelve had his head rested on his knees and his skin was also deathly pale with bags under his eyes. They both looked . . . like they were dying at the moment. Like the life had been drained out of them.

"Mike, they look dead," Lucas pointed out, with a shake of his head. Though he was concerned for them both, mostly Vee, it was true.

"I think we should stick to the chief's plan." Dustin stated.

Lucas nodded in agreement, "Exactly. We stay here, keep El and Vee out of sight and keep them safe."

"That's the most important thing, remember?"

"Besides, she's okay. She's with Jonathan." Lucas tried to comfort his friend.

Dustin smirked, "Yeah, and her and Serenity kind of a badasses now, so . . ."

Dustin then started to walk away from the group in the gym, making Mike scoff. "Well, where are you going? You just said stick to the plan!"

"I am. I'm just gonna go get some chocolate pudding!" Dustin turned to his friend while walking to the gym doors. "I'm telling you Lunch Lady Phyllis hoards that shit."

"Are you serious?!"

"El and Vee need to be recharged!" Dustin yelled back before he went through the double doors out the gymnasium and into the cafeteria.

Lucas turned to see Twelve's interested face on what pudding was and he put a hand out. "You wanna come?" The taller male asked and Twelve stared a bit before nodding.

Lucas pulled Twelve up with his hand, their hands lingering on each other's for a bit longer than they should, and once they was up, they both started walking towards the gymnasiums doors. I'll be back. He quickly told her, mentally, and the girl was too tired to respond herself so she nodded.

Lucas opened the gym door for him and after Twelve went through then Lucas followed.

𓄇

A shiver hit his spine once Dustin and Lucas opened up the freezer to embark on their adventures to find this mysterious pudding. Twelve leaned back after he realized how cold it was and watched from afar how the boys started to rummage through the tiny compartment like a raccoon in a tin can full of trash.

"Found it!" Dustin yelled. "I knew she was hoarding it. I knew it."

Lucas lipped his lips, "Yeah," he started to fill his arms with pudding.

"Always lying, saying she's out. Bald-faced liar."

"Mike, I found the chocolate pudding!" Dustin yelled so loudly that his voice cracked as he did. An okay was yelled back from Mike and the boys continued to steal the pudding from the woman's freezer.

As Dustin was stacking them into his arms, he noticed that Lucas had gave him a look. The look . . . was a interesting one-one Twelve hadn't noticed right away as he was too focused on grabbing a pudding for himself, trying to open it. It seemed that even without powers Dustin read his mind and remembered what they had talked about before.

"Oh! Would you look at the time. Gotta go to the bathroom, bye!" Dustin rushed out for Lucas and as he exited the he winked at Lucas and mouthed: 'You got this!' with a thumbs up.

Once the two were alone, Lucas had let out a breath of relief but also a breath of nervousness you could say. He slapped himself up, quietly as he could, behind Twelve and tried to hype himself up. "You got this. You got this." mumbled Lucas and shook his head around in a weird way.

Twelve was too focused on the pudding can the hear him at the moment so it was quite literally all up to Lucas to speak. At least, until the boy in front of him turned around. But that hadn't happened yet.

Lucas cleared his throat, "So, uh . . . you do-do you need help with that pudding?"

Twelve turned around at his sudden question and he looked at the cup in his hand before shrugging. "No. Not hungry." He placed the cup back into the freezer, turning around again to face away from Lucas but once he turned to face him again, the boy was leaned up against a wall trying to look cool.

"Hey," Lucas spoke with a nod of his head.

"Hi." Twelve beamed at him.

A rather awkward silence took over them, Lucas giving him a wide but strained smile, and Twelve started to wonder why Lucas was acting so . . . weird all of sudden. He could sense the emotion of nervousness from the Sinclair boy and just as he was about to go through his thoughts, the boy started to speak again.

"Can we talk?" Lucas asked earning raised brow from Twelve.

"Talk? Why?" Twelve questioned with a finger on his chin.

Lucas sighed, biting his lip. "Like . . ." he struggled a bit to form his words. Or just explain himself to Twelve.

Twelve noticed how he struggled to speak. "Lucas? Are you . . . okay?"

Lucas didn't answer right away and had a delayed reaction to his voice, jumping up a bit when he did. "Oh, uh . . . yeah. Just . . ."

"Never mind. It's stupid. You . . . you wouldn't understand, Vee." He shook his head shaking away his thoughts he had just a moment ago. Twelve for the first time couldn't read whatever Lucas was trying to say, he knew he was nervous about something. But he didn't know why. Twelve only squinted his eyes at the boy with confusion.

"Understand?" Twelve asked.

Lucas nodded, swallowing his spit. "Yeah, it's dumb. Okay, like really dumb. And I was stupid for thinking about it-just, don't worry about it."

Twelve didn't believe Lucas. He wondered why Lucas was acting so weird right now? They usually never had such a awkward atmosphere like this but it seemed like Lucas was acting not like his usual self. Like he was restraining whatever he wanted to say. His eyes became slits and he focused on the boy's brain for a moment.

"Do you want some pudding still? I could open it for you," Lucas snapped the boy out of the squinted trance he was in. Twelve took a moment before he shook his head.

"No." Twelve pouted a bit. "I want Hersheys."

Lucas felt all around his pockets for a moment and made a sound of success once he gotten what he'd been looking for. He pulled out a couple quarters abs a crumpled up dollar, grabbing Twelve by his hand. "Follow me," the boy whispered and the two snuck out the kitchen going into the hallway of Hawkins Middle.

The halls were relatively dark but had some lit up lamps on the celling lighting it up enough so people were able to navigate through them. Lucas looked around the hallway they were in and put a fist up in accomplishment, mumbling a low boo yeah under his breath, when he saw a vending machine on their right a little farther down.

Once the two kids got to the vending machine, Lucas bowed in front of Twelve and showed him all the snacks. "What would like m'lady?" joked Lucas and Twelve, though he didn't know what the boy meant by m'lady, laughed at his silly gesture. He loved when Lucas did stuff like that. It was funny.

Twelve then looked up at the snacked filled machine. Multiple amounts of candy, chocolate bars, chip bags, and trail mix were on each and every row of the machine. Though, they were all safely sealed behind of a glass that seemed to protect them in a way. At least that's what Twelve thought. Everything needed to be protected and this glass protected the snacks that laid in here.

Twelve scanned the machine for anything that caught his eye and pointed at what he wanted. "That! Hershey! Lucas it has Hersheys!"

Lucas chuckled, "Yeah, do you want one?"

Twelve nodded and watched as Lucas slipped his quarters inside of the vending machine slot and heard it digest the huge coins before the chocolate bar slowly started to be released. Twelve watched in amazement as it finally left into the bottom and watched Lucas pick it up from the bottom and hand it to him.

"Here," Lucas smiled.

Twelve took the Hershey from his hand and immediately opened it, taking a big bite out of the bar. "Thank you." beamed Twelve as he took another bite out of the bar and exclaimed in happiness at how god it was.

Lucas nodded, "Any time, m'lady," he bowed down again and made Twelve laugh, covering his mouth so he wouldn't drop away food from his mouth.

Lucas placed a hand out, "Shall we go back into your castle my highness?"

Twelve laughed but held a confused gaze. "Highness?"

"Yeah, highness. Like king, queen, prince, princess." Lucas named off things with a wonky smile. "Like royalty. You know?"

"Royalty?"

Lucas nodded, "Yeah, you'd definitely be royalty if everyone found out you had powers. You'd be like Starfire! Princess Koriand'r!"

"Princess Kori-anders?"

Lucas grabbed Twelve's hand, "I'll tell you later. When this is all over, I'll tell you all about her,"

Twelve nodded and felt a warmth in his heart at that. His heart started to beat faster than a fly's wings and he beamed at the boy, finding much comfort in his hand.

The two then left for the cafeteria.

𓄇

Dustin jumped up once Twelve and Lucas finally made their way back into the cafeteria. "Finally! I was just telling El how'd this would charge her battery right up!" He informed the two. Twelve only watched El fiddle around with the pudding on the table as he ate his chocolate bar but suddenly felt a terrible sense of dread and distress. What was happening?

Mike then rushed in the cafeteria, "Guys! Guys!"

"What is it?"

"They found us."

At those words Twelve froze up. His heart stopped for a second and it seemed he couldn't breathe for a moment.

𓄇

The group ran down multiple halls, finding their ways down a case of small stairs. Twelve had his hands locked with Lucas's tightly as the group tried to be as quick but also as quiet as they could to avoid the men. Twelve's heart started to pump faster and faster as he felt all the men's emotions in the school as the surrounded them entirely. There was absolutely no way they were going to survive this. At least, that's what he tried to tell himself but his fierceness got in the way. No-he was going to survive this. He was going to get away. He would do whatever it takes to run from these people.

"How did they find us?" Lucas whispered with urgency.

"I don't know but they knew we were in the gym!" Mike responded quietly.

"Lando." Dustin commented out of breath.

"Shh!" Twelve shushed with a shaky voice. He was scared but that didn't mean Dustin's dumb rambling about this Lando made him feel any less on edge.

As they tried to make an escape through the door lights flashed through the windows and men started to open them. "Got 'em!"

Everyone immediately ran back towards where they came from, Twelve tripped over his shoelaces as he ran up the stairs but Lucas helped him up. "Come on!" He hurried as they locked hands again and followed the crew.

"Go! Go!"

The group eventually came face to face with the soldiers again and started to run back the way they ran, Mike telling them to go urgently, but they had gotten face to face with the blonde lady from Benny's. They found themselves trapped between the two groups of soldiers and El was in the front with the blonde lady while Twelve was in the back with Lucas facing that group.

Suddenly a man with ginger hair came into view for Twelve and the boy recognized him as . . . one of the men that tainted him. The ginger licked his lips at the sight of the young boy and pulled his rifle up at the group but Twelve glared deeply at them. They had ruined him. He wasn't letting them do this to him again. He wouldn't let them hurt his friends. His head started to tilt down as he stared at them all, warmth entered his body. His eyes glowed a bright sage green.

The lights on the guns flickered as Twelve channeled his abilities on the men in front of him. It started from their heads, a scalding heat seemed to immediately make their faces bright red. Then their skin began to peel off as if someone was peeling an orange-they tried to move but they couldn't. They wouldn't let them move. He pushed further with all his might, and the seething heat he created with his own mind began to expose their flesh as they whimpered in pain.

Eleven had been squeezing the brains of the blonde lady and her group, making their eyes and noses bleed, while Twelve had created such deadly heat that burned them from head to toe.

Strain was all over his face, along with sweat, as he continued to make the heat even more unbearable and uncomfortable, but as painful as possible. The lights flickered endlessly as all the soldiers eyes bled, along with their noses and ears, by the supernatural children and before they knew it. The group of adults fell to the group, all dead. Creating a giant pool of blood when they did.

El fell right along with them once she stopped focusing and when Twelve finally couldn't produce any more heat . . . everything became silent for a moment as he fell to the ground with his sister. His mind completely and utterly exhausted.

Mike immediately rushed down to El, "El, are you okay?"

Dustin rushed down to the girl also but Lucas caught Twelve in his arms before he fell and was on ground with him. In his arms. "Vee? Vee, wake up. Vee? Please, wake up,"

Mike shook El's unconscious body, "El!"

"Something's wrong." Mike looked up at his friends to see Lucas holding a pale unconscious Twelve in his arms.

"They're just drained-holy shit, he looks dead!" Dustin exclaimed as he finally looked back at Lucas and deathly pale Vee.

"I know, he won't wake up. Vee! Can you hear me?" Lucas shook his body slightly but still got no response. "Vee! Please! Wake up!"

"El!" Mike called out again. "El!"

"She's barely breathing." Mike put his finger under her nose.

Lucas did the same and nodded, "Yeah, so is he. We gotta go! Get them somewher-"

"Leave them."

The trio of boys got up from their positions on the ground and saw more soldiers step into the hallway but leading them was no other than Doctor Brenner. Or better known as Papa.

"Stay away from the children." Brenner ordered.

"No! You want them, you have to kill us first!"

"That's right!"

"Eat shit!"

Multiple soldiers came from behind the three boys and grabbed onto them as they struggled with them. They all screamed and shouted as they tried to struggle but none of them had came close to even getting out of the men's grip. While that was happening, Brenner walked towards the two unconscious children on the floor and picked them up, putting them up against the wall, cupping their faces.

"Eleven? Eleven, can you hear me?" He called out to them quietly. "Twelve? Wake up for Papa."

It seemed that as soon as the man started to speak to the two, they started to awaken at his constant shaking and mumbling in their faces. Twelve's heart raced as he saw the man in front of him but he was still weak and couldn't do anything about the man touching him. "Papa?"

"Yes, yes, it's your papa."

Twelve sniffled, "No, no. Stop-please. Let go," the boy tried to struggle out his grip but the man wouldn't listen.

"Let him go! Let him go, you piece of shit!" Lucas screamed at Papa but the man didn't even flinch at his threats. "I'll kill you-you hear me?! I'll kill you!"

El noticed what was happening and started to whimper and struggle but she was still tired and didn't do much. Twelve-no, he wasn't Twelve. Vee had started crying at the sight of the man, with tears steaming out faster than he expected. No, no, no. Please not again. I don't wanna go.

"Shh, shh, you're sick. You're sick, but I'm going to make you better. Both of you." Papa shushed the two. "I'm going to take you back home, where I can make you well again."

"Where we can make all of this better, so no one else gets hurt." He told the children. El stared up at the man with tired eyes and shook her head. Twelve was trying his best to struggle out the man's grip and shook his head constantly.

"No. Bad . . . Not home. Home with Lucas," Vee looked over at the Sinclair boy, reaching out to him with his pale arm. "Lucas . . . Help. Please." He cried out for the boy who only struggled harder at his tires cries.

"Mike. Mike." El called out to Mike.

Vee started to try and peel Papa's hands from his face, along with El, but the man still kept a good grip on their bodies. Let go. Vee attempted to mentally get the man off of him and his sister but he was too weak for anything of the sorts and Papa only shrugged it off as a tingle in his head.

The electricity started to spike out of control all of a sudden and everyone looked towards the lights or around the hall.

"Blood." Mike suddenly spoke.

"What?" Lucas asked.

"Blood." Mike repeated and everyone started to notice all the dead bodies with blood oozing out of their faces and bodies. Immediately, Lucas and Dustin Mike realized what Mike meant by blood. He meant that the monster was here. The demogorgon had been on its way.

Vee watched from the floor as the wall started combust and began to curve as if something was forcing its way out. Head first they saw the flower head creature start to come through the wall and it wasn't long before it was fully through.

"Demogorgon," Dustin panted as the creature let out a screech.

The men in black immediately let go of the boys and they all began to shoot at the creature. The boys staeted to clamor together and Dustin picked up El quickly while Lucas picked up Vee bridal style, running through the walls to find a place to hide.

Vee didn't remember much of the ride in Lucas's arms.

𓄇

The group of boys hurriedly put El and Vee into a classroom moving a desk so El could lay down on and Lucas put Vee in a chair. Vee winced at the sudden drop into the chair as his whole body ached terribly and his vision was still dizzy or confusing. His ears hurt incredibly bad and he could barely open his eyes anymore. He was exhausted out of his mind and only wanted to let go and let whatever sleep would take him.

Lucas cupped Vee's cheeks, "Vee? Are you okay? Can you hear me?"

Vee hadn't responded back to Lucas and only stared at his face tiredly. He couldn't even understand what the boy was saying at the moment as everything was sounding like gibberish. Lucas noticed that his breathing was getting heavily and tried his best to calm him down.

"Vee, just breathe . . . okay? Just breathe. In and out, slowly. Y-You'll be fine-you're strong, Vee. Stronger than anyone I've ever met. You've been through so much, okay? All you gotta do is breathe for me. Because you'll make it. And when you do we'll go to the movies and eat Hersheys until we get fat together then you can sleep at my house like you did last time. You'll . . . you'll be okay, Vee. Because you really are some miracle or something. Remember that, okay? We'll get through this together," Lucas ranted as he cupped the boy's pale cheeks with a panicked face. Twelve was surprisingly able to hear this entire rant and gave the boy a small tired smile. The small smile Lucas liked him for. "Together?"

Lucas nodded, "Yeah, we'll get through it together. Just us."

"Will I be . . . your highness?" Vee asked with a small smile and remembered what Lucas had said in the hallway.

"Yeah, you can be my Starfire. My princess. My miracle." Lucas joked with a nod and Vee giggled lightly at him. God, he was going to miss his smile and laugh. He really was.

Just like that, the mood between them was ruined when the unsettling sense of Déjà Vu fiddled on Vee's skin. The boy had already knew something bad was going to happen but . . . he wasn't prepared for what him and El had to do. He'd seen this exact place before and didn't know what it meant-but now that he does. He wishes he could've tried to change this outcome.

The sound of gunshots suddenly stopped firing and when that happened Vee started to get worried. He knew what was going to happen but that didn't mean he couldn't stop it. "Is . . . is it dead?" Dustin asked with stammers in his question but the Demogorgon breaking down the door seemed to answer his question. Roaring as it did. The lights flickered even more violently now and all the boys rushed towards Lucas's wrist rocket, attempting to protect themselves with that.

El. Vee reached out to a tired El who turned to him with the same solemn face he had. We have to kill it. Together. Though his words were emotionally told to the girl, that didn't mean he didn't shed a tear while doing it.

No one had noticed Vee limp off the chair and help El the table they had put her on. As the second rock was thrown at the monster, Vee connected hands with El and started to glare at this blood thirsty beast that wanted to devour his friends. The lights flickered way more violently at the usage of his gifts and he found himself pushing even more. The more he pushed himself, the more he went through the pain. Finally, when he opened his eyes a large burst of heat was released and threw the monster onto the chalkboard as it screeched in agony.

The boys gasped at the sight and they started to wonder if the wrist rocket did really stop it.

But that was quickly disproven when El and Vee walked past the group, their skin both pale and the outline of their eyes were red. But Vee's were a deadly green, a toxic type of green. Vee had blood coming from both of his nostrils and a drop of it leaking from his eye like a teardrop. The powerful siblings started the walk towards the monster but Mike ran up to stop them.

"Eleven, stop!"

With a flick of her hand she made the boy fly back into the cabinets with the others.

Each step from the experiments were slow and agonizing in themselves. It seemed whatever they were doing pained them but they didn't show it. The monster tried to screech at them but El tightened her grip on the creature causing it to fall back limp. It's squealing continued as they walked in front of it and once they were face to face with it. Vee glared it in its disgusting hole of a mouth. His eyes darkened as he twisted the monsters leg in a awkward position.

I am going to kill you. His anger bleached through into the creature's mind and, somehow, emotional state as his gifts became unpredictable now. Lights flickered tremendously by them. A wind seemed to pick up in the room as the glass windows started to receive cracks at his emotions. Anger fueled him as his other eye started to release blood but he didn't care. He couldn't care. He twisted the monsters ankle, arm, claw, and other leg in a terrifying way that made it scream in absolute agony, and suddenly the creature felt an awful amount of heat. It burned.

"Vee?"

It seemed the voice of Lucas Sinclair snapped him out of this mode only for a moment. Vee turned back to look at Lucas, tears now mixing with the blood going down his cheeks. " . . . I'll miss you."

"W-What? Vee, what do you mean?" Lucas asked, his voice breaking and holding so much . . . pain Vee couldn't even put it into words how bad he felt, as he started to get frantic. He wanted to go up there with the boy but he didn't want to get caught in the crossfire of his powers. A tear rolled down Lucas's cheek and it was the first time Vee had ever seen him cry.

And maybe it'd be the last.

"I'm sorry." Vee told him, that was it. That was how he would say goodbye.

"Goodbye, Mike." El told Mike sadly, her voice holding pain. Heartbreak. Mike let his tears go down his cheeks and looked at the girl in utter heartbreak and disbelief.

The screeching of the monster got the attention of the siblings again and they both glared at the creature with hatred. "No more."

El put up her hand first, channeling the life force of the monster in her hands. Vee put his free hand up second and began to go all out to kill this beast. As long as Lucas and his friends were okay. He'd be okay, only he knew that he wouldn't be okay after this. He'd be gone completely. Like Barbara.

As El started to destroy the life force of the monster, letting out a feral scream, Vee's hand shook violently as he destroyed everything known of the monster. He started to rip the creature apart with his scalding flames, black blood getting all over his already bloodied up face and Lucas's camouflage bandanna. He ripped apart it's claws next, earning a horrific yell from it, and went on to its head. His screams threatened to rip the whole being apart but El started to destroy its life force, a light coming from inside its belly. Vee let out a feminine banshee like scream that broke several windows before the specs of the creature engulfed him and his sister to be taken away with it.

The lights flickered and flashed faster than humanly possible but once the creature and El and Vee were gone. They stopped.

The boys uncovered their ears at the newfound silence, looking up to see the test subjects had disappeared. Immediately, Mike got up and started to call out for the lost girl. "El? El!"

Lucas let go of the rest of his tears at the empty sight of Vee and immediately ran to it. "No. No, no, no, no." He ran out the classroom and started to look around for Vee. "Vee! Please, come back! Vee!"

"I'm sorry! Vee please I'm sorry just come back!"

"Lucas . . ." A voice was heard inside Lucas's head but it also sounded like a echo of some sorts. That made the boy even more frantic in searching and he wouldn't stop until he found him.

"Vee? I'm coming! Where are you?" Lucas called out. "Vee! Please!"

The searching became useless as Lucas started to realize he wasn't coming back. The boy who could do miracle like things was gone. And he was never coming back. And if he did, Lucas could only hope he'd see him wearing his camouflage bandanna again.

XII had completely vanished.
