I never understood love stories where one half of the couple would do anything to make the other happy, even if it meant sacrificing their own happiness or time or money or energy. I didn't think people really loved one another like that. I thought people were selfish and didn't care enough. I didn't think I'd ever be able to love someone like that.
And then you walked into my life, and it all made sense all of a sudden. Suddenly big portions of my own happiness came from knowing that you were happy, and even bigger portions came if I knew that I was the reason you were happy. Suddenly I was willing to do anything and everything I could to make you happy, even if it wasn't convenient or easy for me.
Suddenly it all made sense because I wanted you to be happy more than I wanted myself to be happy.
