It was hard to believe that you hadn't seen Tyler Joseph in over a year. That hadn't been the plan when he left for tour. In fact, you were only supposed to spend three months apart until you were able to come visit during the tour.
That was before all the family emergencies, last-minute work trips, and various other complications that had been thrown your way.
Now you were here, standing in the airport with your heart pounding in your chest waiting for Tyler to walk through the doors in front of you. You weren't sure exactly how you were going to react, but you had told yourself that you wouldn't make a complete fool of yourself. At least, you would try not to.
You spotted the familiar head of dark hair on the other side of the doors. It only took one glance at his familiar old Adidas jacket to know that it was him. He caught sight of you and his tired expression changed to a beaming smile in a matter of seconds.
Once he was no longer surrounded by a crowd of people, you ran forward and threw your arms around him. He did the same and squeezed you so tightly that it became hard to breathe for a moment.
"I missed you so much," you said. "Life is weird without you in it."
"I missed you too. But hey, I'm back now."
You pulled him into a kiss, taking full advantage of the fact that he was finally here in front of you once again. It was like a piece of you had finally returned.
"As much as I'd love to stand here and hug you, we should probably get back to the house," you laughed.
"Agreed," he smiled.
You grabbed one of Tyler's bags and swung it over your shoulder. He immediately grabbed your free hand and laced his fingers with yours, although this didn't stop him from also walking as close to you as possible.
"It's so weird to be able to hold your hand again," he commented.
"It's nice," you said, giving his hand a light squeeze.
"And I finally get to wake up next to you every morning."
He leaned over and pressed a kiss to your cheek. This, of course, threw you off balance.
"Ty!" you laughed. "I'm trying to walk."
"I missed you! And now you're here and I want to be close to you."
"I missed you too, but we'll have plenty of time to spend together once we get home."
"Promise?"
You smiled and leaned your head on his shoulder for a moment, "I promise."
