"This headache is killing me," you groaned, adjusting yourself on the couch.

Josh was sitting at the dining table, doing something on his computer. The incessant tapping of his keys was only making your head feel worse.

"Did you take medicine?" he asked.

"Of course I took medicine," you grumbled into a pillow. "It's just not working. Not to mention that you typing over there isn't any help."

You heard Josh's chair scrape against the floor. His footsteps were quiet as he made his way over to where you were laying.

"Is there anything that I can do to help?" he asked, resting a hand lightly on your back.

"Not really. Unless you want to lay here with me and keep me company."

"I can do that," Josh said.

You sat up so that there was room for him to sit on the couch. Once he had made himself comfortable, you laid your head in his lap.

"So where does your head hurt?" Josh asked.

"Here, here," you said, pointing to various spots. "Everywhere, actually."

"I'm sorry." Josh ran a hand along your hair.

"It's ok," you said. "It just really throws a wrench in all the stuff I was planning to do today."

"Now we can do nothing instead," Josh smiled, leaning forward and planting a kiss on your forehead.

"That's hard to do when my skull feels like it's being squeezed from all sides."

Josh continued to run his hand along your hair, which did help to distract you from the pain a little bit. You closed your eyes and tried to focus on that rather than the pounding in your head.

"Is this helping?" he asked. You nodded against his legs. "Do you mind if I turn on a movie?"

"Sure, can you just keep the volume kind of low?"

"No problem."

Josh shifted slightly as he reached for the TV remote. You kept your eyes closed and tried to stay as still as possible. The less that you moved, the less that your head hurt.

The movie started a few minutes later. You recognized the opening line of it immediately. The two of you had watched this movie so many times that you had lost count and both of you could recite most of it from memory.

"Good choice," you murmured.

"I thought you might appreciate it."

With the movie playing and Josh snuggled up with you, your headache was almost entirely forgotten. It didn't take long for you to fall asleep, feeling the best that you had all day.
