Pairing: Josh Dun x Reader

You had known that going on Twitter was a bad idea. All you had needed was one negative comment to push you over the edge, and that's exactly what Twitter had provided you with. Your day had officially been ruined and the only reasonable way to spend the rest of it was crying on the couch.

Josh was in the other room practicing drums, meaning that there was no way that he would be able to hear you sniffling in the living room. This was a good thing, because it meant you wouldn't cause Josh to worry about you. That would only make you feel worse.

You were so caught up in your own head that you didn't hear Josh's drumming stop. You didn't hear the door in the hallway swing open. And you certainly didn't hear Josh's footsteps as he drew closer to you.

"Y/N?"

You did hear that. In fact, it startled you so badly that you sat straight up. Your back was now to Josh, so you took advantage of the moment and wiped away as many tears as you could. Maybe he hadn't noticed you crying.

"What's wrong?"

Ok, so maybe he had.

"Nothing. I'm fine," you shrugged.

"You don't seem fine."

"Is it that obvious?"

You turned to face him, allowing him to see your puffy eyes and splotchy cheeks. His eyebrows pulled together in concern and his mouth had curved into a frown.

"You seemed fine before I started drumming, what changed? Or do I just sound that bad?" he laughed.

You allowed yourself to smile for a second, "I was just having an off day and then someone said something mean about me on Twitter and it just kind of set me off. It's dumb, I know."

"What did they say?" he asked, immediately growing defensive.

"That I'm not attractive and you deserve someone better than me," you mumbled.

A tear slipped down your cheek and Josh reached out to brush it away.

"You know that's not true, right?"

You shrugged.

"Alright, we have to do this the hard way, then."

You looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He simply cleared his throat and smiled.

"Y/N, I love you so much and I'm going to tell you why."

"Oh no," you whispered.

"You're one of the funniest people that I've ever met and your jokes never fail to make me laugh."

You nodded, even if you didn't totally believe him.

"Your smile never fails to light up the room and your laugh is contagious."

You couldn't help but smile a little at that one.

"You're the only one who will sing off-key with me in the car with the windows rolled all the way down."

"What about Tyler?"

"He doesn't sing off-key," Josh smiled. "Also you're wonderful at looking out for me. You always seem to know when I'm in a bad mood and the exact way to cheer me up."

You nodded again, although this time you actually agreed.

"And you are definitely the most attractive person in the universe."

"I don't know, there might be some pretty attractive aliens out there," you giggled.

Josh laughed and shook his head. You had to admit, you did feel a lot better after all of Josh's compliments.

"Thanks, Josh. I love you," you said, reaching over so that you could hug him. "Do you mind if I come watch you drum for awhile?"

"Not at all," he smiled and gave you a kiss. "I love you too."
