"Hey, Y/N!" Josh called after you as you were walking out the front door.

"Yeah?" you said, stopping in your tracks and turning back to face him.

He caught up to you and adjusted his bag on his shoulder, "I was wondering if you wanted to go get some ice cream? You know, to celebrate it being the weekend and all."

You had been crushing on Josh since you started working with him nearly a year ago. The two of you had always been friendly towards one another, but nothing ever happened outside of work. Until today, that is.

"Sure," you smiled.

The ice cream shop was just a few blocks away, so you and Josh decided to walk. It was warm outside, but the temperature wasn't unbearable. You swapped stories about crazy customers as you walked, each trying to outdo the other.

"What are you going to get?" you asked as the two of you stepped inside.

"Probably chocolate," he shrugged. "Boring, I know."

"Hey, at least you know what you like," you smiled.

"Yeah, what about you?"

You stood on your toes so that you could get a better look at the variety of flavors that they had. All of them looked good, and you weren't sure which one you were going to pick,

"Why don't you pick for me?"

"That's a lot of pressure," Josh smiled, stepping forward so that he could look over the options.

"I believe in you."

You stepped away to look at all the different pints of ice cream while Josh ordered for the two of you. Once you saw him stepping up to the register to pay, you walked over to join him.

"I've got this," he said as you started to pull money out of your wallet.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, no worries."

"If you insist," you shrugged, sticking your wallet back into your bag.

You and Josh grabbed your ice cream and found a nice place to sit outside.

"What is this?" you asked, investigating your brightly colored ice cream.

"You'll have to eat it and find out," he smirked.

You hesitantly tried some of the ice cream, only to be relieved when you found out it was.

"It's peach!" you smiled.

"You like it?"

"I do."

"Ok good," he said, looking relieved.

"Do you mind if I try yours? I've been here countless times and I don't think I've ever had plain chocolate."

"Sure," he said, holding out his cone so that you could try a bit.

You leaned forward to try it, only for him to tap his ice cream against your nose.

"Hey!" you laughed, wiping it away with the back of your hand.

"Sorry, couldn't resist."

You shook your head, but couldn't help the smile on your face.

The two of you sat for quite a while, discussing work and other things that were going on in your lives. Eventually, the two of you finished your ice cream and decided to head back to your cars to go your separate ways.

"See you on Monday!" you waved from across the parking lot.

"You too! Hey, today was fun! We should get ice cream more often."

"Definitely," you smiled, hoping that he meant what he said.
