The last traces of light were just beginning to leave the sky, slowly turning it to a deep blue. Tyler's face was gleaming with a thin layer of sweat under the lights that were trained on him. You turned and looked out at the sea of fans standing in the once-empty field, bouncing along to the beat of the music.
Josh twirled his drumsticks in his fingers for a moment before giving a silent nod to Tyler. Their setlist was nearing the end, and you could tell from the looks on their faces that they were getting tired. Tyler glanced your way, flashing you a quick smile before running to the opposite side of the stage so he could climb the rigging. Your heart skipped a beat for a moment, but you had learned a long time ago that Tyler knew what he was doing.
As soon as the last note had ended and the boys got the ok to leave the stage, Tyler came jogging over to you. His gray tank top was clinging to his chest and he happily took the water bottle that you offered him as soon as he was within arm's reach, chugging half of it in one go.
"Thanks," he murmured once he finally pulled it away from his lips. "I needed that."
"I know, it's hot out here."
He nodded as he finished the rest of the water. You had been intending to keep some of it for yourself, but obviously Tyler had other plans.
"Do you want to take a walk while there's still light left?" he asked.
"I was wondering when you would ask," you grinned, already holding one of your hands out to him.
Tyler took off his concert gear in record time and grabbed your hand, intertwining his fingers with yours. You allowed him to guide you down the stairs and away from the festival stage. The sound of music and screams from excited fans slowly grew quieter as you moved further away.
"I don't understand how you can wear pants on stage," you said. "I was just standing there in shorts and I thought I was going to melt."
He laughed, "It's all part of the persona."
"The persona, of course. Nothing is more important than the persona, especially potential for heat exhaustion."
"I was taking care of myself!"
"I'm sure you were."
Tyler gently tugged on your hand, pulling you into his side so that he could wrap an arm around you. You leaned against him, trying your best to ignore his sweaty arm against the back of your neck. In front of you, a few stars were just beginning to appear in the sky.
"We shouldn't stay out here too long," you commented. "You could use a shower."
"I'm not the only one," Tyler laughed before pressing a kiss to your temple.
You started to lead Tyler back towards where the rest of the crew would be waiting, but he stopped you.
"Hold on."
"What?" you asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
He grabbed your hips and pulled you towards him so that your faces were only a few inches apart. You tried not to blush too hard as he stared straight into your eyes.
"There's something that I've been meaning to tell you."
"And that is?"
"I love you."
There was no way you would be able to keep a straight face after that. You immediately pulled him into a kiss, not caring if he was still a bit of a sweaty mess, and threw your arms around his neck.
"I love you too," you grinned, pressing your forehead to his.
"Alright, now let's get out of here."
