Drabble #87
Pairing: Josh Dun x Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 717
Prompt: "We've been dating for three years and you still blush when I compliment you?"
You fiddled with a loose strand of hair as you looked yourself over in the mirror yet again. The stylists had done an amazing job on you. Everything flowed together, from the color of the dress to the shade of your lipstick.
"Babe, you can come out anytime," Josh coaxed you from outside the door.
"Not yet," you said, turning slightly to look at the open back of the dress.
You heard your boyfriend groan outside. He was dying to see you all done up for the awards show, that was no secret. Even so, you couldn't get yourself to leave the comfort of the bathroom. You felt good, beautiful even, but you didn't really feel like yourself.
"I've been staring at that dress for weeks, I want to see you in it."
"Josh, just give me a second, please," you said, a bit more distressed than you had intended.
"Y/N? Is everything ok?"
"Yeah, I'm fine."
You turned around and rested a hand on the door handle. If you didn't force yourself to walk out of the bathroom now, you were afraid you might not be able to handle the overwhelming emotions you were experiencing. At least, not without ruining the makeup that stylists had spent close to an hour on.
"Ok, because if I have to find the master key, I will. You better not be-"
You opening the door interrupted his sentence. His jaw just about dropped to the floor, and his eyes scanned up and down your body multiple times.
"Do I look ok?" you asked.
"Ok? You look–wow, Y/N–I don't even know the right word to use," he said, walking over and placing his hands on your arms.
"Really?" you asked.
You could feel the heat rising to your face. Josh was just staring at you, and you could hardly believe that someone was this amazed by you.
"Are you blushing?" he smiled.
"No," you lied quickly, turning away from him a bit.
He placed a hand on your cheek and turned your head back to face him.
"You are blushing!"
"Am not," you said, swatting his hand away.
"We've been dating for three years and you still blush when I compliment you?" he smiled.
"I'm just not used to compliments, alright?"
"Babe, I compliment you almost every day."
"I know you do, I just still have a hard time believing it. I'm working on being better at that."
Josh took your hand and led you over to the mirror in the bedroom. He wrapped an arm around your waist and pulled you into his side.
"Look at us," he smiled. "We're going to be the hottest couple there."
You reached over and smoothed out part of his tux, "We do clean up nice. Although I do have to say, this is very different from your usual attire."
He stepped away from you for a second before giving you a twirl, "It's nice though, isn't it?"
"Yes, there is no doubt in my mind that I have the most attractive boyfriend in the world, dressed up or not."
He walked over to you and put his hands on your waist. You looked up at him and his eyes connected with yours.
"I love you so much," he smiled.
"I love you too. And I am beyond proud of you. I know you're going to win an award tonight."
"You really think so?" his smile grew even wider.
"I know so."
You grabbed his tie and pulled him towards you so that you could kiss him. He smiled and wrapped his arms tighter around you, pulling you closer to him. You leaned back slightly, leaving just centimeters between your lips.
"You know I'd love to stay up here all day, but Tyler and Jenna are going to be here any minute to pick us up and we still have to gather a few things," you said.
Josh sighed, "I hate when you're right."
He let go of you, instead taking hold of your hand. You led him downstairs just in time for his phone to buzz, signaling that the Josephs had arrived. The two of you raced to grab everything you needed before meeting back in front of the front door.
"Ready?" he asked.
You smiled and grabbed his hand, "Ready."
