Drabble #69
Pairing: Josh Dun x Reader
Warnings: None
Word Count: 527
Prompt: "I'm not ready."
You watched as Josh walked back across the room for what seemed like the millionth time in the last twenty minutes. Tonight was the first show of the tour which meant that he was more nervous than usual.
"Josh, why don't you sit down for a little bit? You're making me nervous."
He shook his head as he walked back past you.
"Love, everything is going to be ok."
He walked over and practically collapsed onto the couch. His eyes remained fixated on the ground in front of him.
"I'm not ready."
You grabbed one of his hands in both of your own, "You've been practicing for months. You know all of these songs by heart, I've seen it. Can you look at me?"
He stopped staring at the ground and turned to look at you, his brown eyes fixated intensely on you.
"You're going to do amazing. Everyone out there loves you. There is no doubt in my mind that you're going to be just fine."
A small smile formed on his lips, "What did I do to deserve you?"
One of the stage managers knocked on the door before popping his head in the room, "Josh, it's time to go."
"I'll be there in just a second."
Josh turned back to you.
"I'm going to be in the crowd the entire time. Know that I'm going to be rooting for you, ok?"
Josh nodded, "I love you so much."
"I love you too."
He pulled you into a kiss before standing up from the couch.
"You've got this," you called after him as he left the room.
You grabbed your backstage pass from the table before making your way through the maze of hallways to your seat.
You couldn't wipe the smile from your face as you walked down the hallway to Josh's dressing room. The show had been fantastic, easily the best one that you had been to, and you knew that Josh was going to be elated.
His dressing room door was closed, so you did the secret knock that you two had come up with to let him know it was you. The door swung open within seconds, revealing a beaming Josh. You rushed into his arms and he picked you up and swung you around.
"You did amazing," you smiled, resting a hand on the side of his sweat-covered face. "One of the best shows I've ever been to."
"It was just because I knew you were in the crowd," he smiled, planting another kiss on your lips.
You rolled your eyes, "Or maybe because you're an amazing drummer with more talent than you realize."
He shrugged, "That too."
"I told you that you had nothing to worry about."
"You know I worry about everything."
"Which is why I try to help," you smiled.
"And that's why I love you."
"I love you too. Now why don't we order a celebratory pizza?"
"Did someone say pizza?" Tyler asked, popping his head in the room.
You spun around to face him, "Yes, pizza."
"Let's do it!" he smiled.
You shook your head, wondering how you had ended up knowing such lovable idiots.
