You watched Tyler fiddle with the microphone during soundcheck, making sure that everything was calibrated properly. Josh was chilling behind his drums, idly tapping on his legs as he waited for his turn to run through what he needed to run through. His shirt had seemingly disappeared at some point in the last hour.

"Alright, why don't we run through The Judge?" Tyler asked the crew.

Josh shot you a look. The Judge wasn't a particularly drum-heavy song, meaning that he would be spending another indefinite amount of time just waiting behind his drums. You tried to give him a reassuring smile.

The sound of Tyler's ukulele playing filled the empty arena. You slowly bobbed your head from side to side, enjoying the way that it echoed off the empty walls. It was an entirely different atmosphere to when fans filled every seat, singing the lyrics right back to them.

Tyler entered the chorus and Josh continued to unenthusiastically play his drums. You tried not to laugh too hard at the faces that he was making, but you still managed to catch his attention. Now aware that he had caught your eye, he began to be even more dramatic about his annoyance.

Josh eventually grew tired of this charade and decided to amp it up a little. He grabbed the plastic water bottle that was sitting by his foot and used it as a microphone, mouthing along to the words that Tyler was singing. This was also the moment when you completely lost it and started to wheeze, finally grabbing Tyler's attention.

"Hey!" he called. "Are you alright, Y/N?"

You nodded and gave him a thumbs up, unable to form any words with how hard you were laughing. He turned and noticed that behind his drums, Josh was doing the same.

"What did you two do?" he sighed.

"Josh," you wheezed, trying to motion with your hands. "And the..."

"Josh?" Tyler asked, turning to him.

"Sorry," he laughed. "Alright, time to focus."

Josh tried to take a deep breath and calm himself down, but this only made him crack up more. Tears were streaming out of your eyes, so you wiped them away with the back of your hand.

"You know what? Let's just take a break," Tyler groaned.

Josh was quick to stand up and jog over to where you were sitting. You had finally calmed down after your laughing fit.

"I'm going to pay for that one," he said.

"I think it was worth it," you giggled, reaching forward to play with a strand of his hair that was poking out from beneath his hat.

Josh continued to chat with you, giving you flirty compliments and cracking more jokes, until Tyler eventually returned. He looked a lot calmer than when he had left five minutes ago.

"Alright, I need to get back before he gets frustrated again."

"You got this, babe," you said, giving him a quick kiss.

Josh hopped off the railing that was separating you from the floor of the arena and jogged back to the stage. He took a seat at his drums and flashed you a quick wink while he spun a drumstick around his finger. You shook your head and motioned for him to pay attention just in time for Tyler to start singing again.
