⛄Day 05⛄
Jungkook sat at his desk bored out of his mind. His office was a fun place, don't get him wrong, but when it came to doing actual work, Jungkook's focus and effort was completely lost. Filing management reports wasn't exactly his cup of tea. He spun around in his wheely chair glancing about the busy office place every once in a while. A shade of aquamarine with various darker blue patterns laced the walls. Dark spruce looking woods coated the floors, making a sharp clicking sound every time Mina's high heels touched the ground. Floor to ceiling windows lined the outer wall with a magnificent view of the construction next door. The inner walls held glass doors to meeting rooms, superior offices, a break room, and a, slightly larger than most, kitchenette. The desks were lined up in rows, two desks head to head and five other desks the same way lined up neatly next to them.
Jungkook had set a sort of blockade so he wouldn't have to see the person in front of him. He kind of found it awkward how they had forced eye contact like that. His desk had a large built-in shelving unit hanging up above it's surface. Jungkook used it for less tactical reasons, as it was coated in toys and decorations of all sorts. His files and other such work items formed his barrier. The computer monitor sat in the center with the motem down on the ground next to his foot. His files formed a pillar to the right of it and his guides and other binders formed a wall to the left. There was no sight of the person sat across from him, though he knew who it was.
The light coming through the windows was filtered by the light grey clouds outside, which December seemed to hold a lot of, which gave the whole room a gloomy or eerie feel. It almost silenced the room. No one was exactly energetic or social when the weather was like this. It was like a dampener on the mood. A line of five or so people waited for the copier, files and printer sheets in hand. The water fountain, over by the bathrooms, had a Taehyung leaning against it while, Jungkook could only assume, flirting with Hoseok while a very aggravated co-worker with a nearly crushed paper cup in hand waited to get water. Jungkook chuckled, this was how it was going to be from now on, huh?
A small, heavy object hit Jungkook directly on the forehead and then flopped lifelessly to the floor. Jungkook looked around for where the object came from before getting down on his knees and searched for the item. A shiny something glittered from under the desk. Jungkook's fingers stretched until they wrapped around the circular something. Jungkook got back in his chair and looked in his hand. A small, gold ring sat in the palm of his hand. A little sticky note was attached, which read: Focus on your work!
Jungkook grumbled and put the ring in a mug which sat on his upper shelf. He scanned the room, hoping for signs of the culprit. Everyone was still at the copier (Jooheon may speak fast, but he was pretty slow everywhere else). Mina was busy on the phone. Taehyung and Hoseok weren't at the water fountain. Bingo. Jungkook smirked and headed to the empty space by the fountain. Jungkook peered down the hallway of offices to confirm his thoughts only to see Taehyung and Hoseok had moved their conversation to the end of it.
Jungkook's whole body tensed as a second heavy object hit his back. He turned and was met with a second gold ring lying on the floor next to his foot. The pink sticky note read: I'm being serious.
Jungkook narrowed his eyes and sank back in his chair, placing the ring with the other in the mug.
"Another one?" Jungkook mumbled as he discovered the third by his mouse.
Good on you. I'm glad you want your paycheck.
"I'm glad I want my paycheck too."
The ring was put away in a heartbeat.
Mina set a fresh stack of files next to Jungkook's keyboard, "Fresh files, all set and ready."
"Thanks, Mina."
Mina nodded, her heels clicking as she went back to her desk.
Jungkook moved them around a bit, a clink sound erupting from under the the files.
"Oh, come on." Jungkook groaned as he lifted the stack up, revealing yet another ring.
Jungkook looked around the room and leaned around the desk's shelving unit to get a good look at the other side of the room.
I'm not who you think I am.
"Well, I know that for sure."
Jungkook stood up and leaned against Mina's desk.
"So, where'd this round of files come from?"
"Oh, they came from everywhere. I've been getting them from downstairs and several desks up here too."
Jungkook hummed.
"Why? Is something wrong?"
"No, someone's just been slipping Twelve Days of Christmas references into my things."
Mina smiled, "So Jungkook's got a secret admirer."
"I guess so." Jungkook huffed. "I better get back to work. Boss expects those files sorted by the end of the work day."
"Good luck."
"Thank you."
Jungkook sat down, his chair sinking slightly from his weight. He shot backwards as he noticed the fifth and final ring dangling from a fishing line above his desk.
"Holy crap." Jungkook whispered as he untied the line from his shelf.
-On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, five golden rings, four calling birds, three french hens, two turtle doves, and a partridge in a pear tree-
I hope you don't mind me attacking you with rings all day. It was really funny to watch you trying to figure out where they were coming from and I don't laugh a lot. I know it was probably frustrating to you, so I hope you'll be able to forgive me when we meet. But, hey, at least I get to acknowledge and tell you how beautiful you are when you walk. Not that you're just beautiful when you're walking. I could go on, but this sticky note is too short for that. Flip on back ➵
Jungkook flipped the note over, a grin spreading on his face as he read the small three word sentence that Jungkook wasn't going to say. Sure, this whole ring thing had been really annoying but that comment made up for it. Now what exactly was he supposed to do with all these rings?
Word Count: 1111

Today is totally the fifth. I totally didn't get distracted yesterday and forgot to update. Day 6 will be out later, I didn't want to publish them both at the same time. I really need to find more to say at the end of these chapters.
I hope you all enjoyed and I'll see you all in a few hours.
