After literally fucking the police she died during childbirth then Carl shot her in the head so she wouldn't turn.

The baby lived tho and was given to Rick but he isn't the biological father (don't tell him that it's Shane's)

Although she died it was for the best, without her death Carl wouldn't be the badass he is today.
