CHAPTER 8
After school, Bella and I went to Brittney's house so that we could get ready for the party that night. When we got there Brittney and Bella immediately started bringing out various outfits and makeup while I brought out a book.
"Ash! No reading, we need your advice!" Brittney says before snatching the book out of my hands.
I smirked at her. "That book, as I was about to say, is really good. You might like it." I said and brought my book out of my backpack and made sure that my grip on it is tight before I started to read.
"Please help, I don't know what to wear." Brittney wined.
"Well don't look at me, we all know I quote from the last time I tried to help 'have the fashion sense of a toad'." I fired back.
"Don't worry Brittney, we will find the perfect thing." Bella said calmly. Bella was really good at fashion and always helped Brittney and I for things like this.
Once both Bella and Brittney found their outfits they turned to me and I swear there was an evil glint in their eyes. "Nope, we already have an outfit for me remember?" I said putting down my book and backing away from them. I chose a loose crop top paired with shorts, something close enough to my comfort level that I wouldn't be hiding in Brittney's room the whole time like the last party but not so comfortable that I'm in a sweatshirt and leggings.
"Come on, this is perfect." Bella said, holding us a very small and very fitted black dress.
"Just go a little past where you drew the line last year." Brittney prompted.
Last year, I had made a list of things I would and would not wear in public and on that list had been dresses. I hated dresses because you could not sit down without it going up and that was the last thing I needed.
"We passed that line ages ago, but I'll try it on." I relented. Bella squealed and threw the dress to me before proceeding to shove me out the door and to the bathroom. I quickly got changed and went back into Brittney's room without bothering to glance at the mirror. Brittney and Bella stopped mid conversation to jump and squeal at my appearance.
They quickly had me sit at Brittney's desk without even letting me look in the mirror first. "Please don't over do it." I begged Bella as she started working on my makeup.
"Fine, I will do it on the natural side of the scale." Bella promised. "Now shut up and stop moving your face unless you want mascara in your forehead. After a complete makeover that felt like it took hours, but it probably only took 15 minutes Bella announced she was finished. She and Brittney hurried me in front of the mirror. I gasped, I look completely different from the black dress that shows off my legs to the makeup that brings out my plain brown eyes.
"I love it!" I exclaimed "Bella, you worked a miracle. I should let you do this more often."
"You definitely should." Brittney agrees "Bryan won't be able to take his eyes off you." She added.
"He's coming?" I asked and was so distracted by the nervousness that suddenly washed over me that it took a little while for what Brittney had said to sink in. "And I don't care what he thinks of me, it's not like we are dating or anything." I said as they burst into laughter at my earlier distraction.
"Not yet anyways." Brittney said, still laughing her head off.
