CHAPTER FOUR: ROOM SERVICE

For the first time in days, or weeks, maybe, Violet woke up without any semblance of a hangover. Rafe's low supply on the drug front, along with Violet's disinterest the previous night in drinking alcohol, meant that she hadn't gone to bed inebriated. Hell, by the time they walked back to Tannyhill, the Cameron family mansion, Violet had barely even been able to feel her initial buzz.

Rafe was still asleep beside her, a sheet carelessly thrown over his naked body, allowing Violet a glimpse at his long, muscular legs, and his taut, firm ass.

She knew other people had their doubts about Rafe Cameron, but they didn't get to see him in bed like she did.

She slid out of bed and tiptoed into Rafe's ensuite bathroom, where she relieved herself and quickly brushed her teeth, before sliding back into bed alongside her boyfriend.

A mischievous grin filled her face as she sidled up to him, running a finger lightly down his broad back. He twitched under her touch and she let out a breathy laugh. She did it again and he let out a groan.

"I'm sleeping," he said, studying her with the one blue eye visible from its position on his pillow.

"Hmm," she sighed, shrugging her shoulders innocently. "I'm not."

He propped his head up, his eyes alert now as he studied her, much in the way she'd done to him only moments before, and she knew she had him right where she wanted him. Suddenly, he no longer seemed much interested in sleeping.

"I don't appreciate being woken up," he said, feigning annoyance.

"Okay, fine," she said, lying back down and bringing the blankets to her chin. "Let's go back to bed then."

"Like that's an option anymore," he said, his voice husky.

He pulled the blankets back and hovered over her, pressing his lips to hers as he reached for the bedside table, fumbling for a condom package. She grinned at seeing that he was now alert, all of him.

She tangled her fingers in his dirty blond hair, pulling him close to her as he slid the condom on. Just as he was adjusting his hips over hers, there was a loud knock at the door, causing them both to jump in surprise.

Rafe groaned and pressed his face into the crook of Violet's neck. "If we ignore them, maybe they'll go away."

"Rafe!" A gentle voice called out, followed by another knock. "Do you want some breakfast?"

Rafe groaned and rolled off of Violet, hitting the pillow beside him. "Fucking Wheezie. She's not going to leave me alone until I answer. She thinks I'm not taking good care of myself."

Wheezie was the youngest Cameron, and she was really sweet. Even if Rafe didn't like Sarah, Violet knew he had a soft spot for his other sister.

"Rafe?" Wheezie called out again.

He groaned and sat up, quickly reaching for his clothes. "Just a sec, Wheeze! I'll be down in a minute." His eyes roamed over to Violet, the blue stormy with lust and annoyance. "Do you want breakfast?"

Violet shrugged and sat up, running a hand through her messy bedroom hair. "Sure."

If she wasn't going to get morning sex, Rafe could at least treat her to breakfast.

She wasn't about to wear her concert clothes from the night before, so she dug into Rafe's closet for a t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants, both of which were too large for her. She pulled the sweatpants' elastic tight around her waist, which was growing smaller and smaller as she tumbled further and further into her battles with her various vices. She wished she had a little sister like Wheezie, making sure she was getting all of her meals, because when Violet was fucked up, food was always the furthest thing on her mind.

Another knock sounded on the door as Rafe and Violet were quickly pulling on clothes. "Dammit, Wheeze! We'll be out in a sec!"

"We?" Wheezie echoed. "Is Violet here? I'll put some more pancakes on."

They heard Wheezie's steps fall loudly on the stairs as she scrambled downstairs to prepare more food, and her eagerness brought a smile to Violet's lips.

"You know, she'll be busy with that extra food for a bit," Rafe said, moving behind her, his hands on her hips. "We could make it quick..."

Violet laughed and pushed him away. "Consider the mood ruined, Cameron. Let's go help your sister with breakfast."

He pulled her in for a final kiss, a rare and gentle private form of affection from the Cameron boy, before opening the bedroom door and leading her downstairs.

Violet and Rafe had been together for almost four years, but she still felt out of place at Tannyhill. Like her own parents, the Camerons were so prim and proper, so she wondered what Ward, and Rafe's stepmother Rose, truly thought of her. Certainly she wasn't who they had in mind for Rafe. She wasn't a southern belle debutante, satisfied with a life of restless leisure, ready to be at her man's beck and call. She was a broken little emo girl with a raspy voice who played her guitar too loud and did drugs with their son.

Thankfully, Wheezie was the only person in the kitchen, smiling as she scooped pancake batter onto a griddle. Violet knew the Camerons rarely cooked themselves, so she wondered who had taught the girl how to make pancakes in the first place. Violet's own mother had certainly never done such a thing.

"Hi Violet," Wheezie greeted, her cheeks flushing slightly.

"Hey Wheeze," Violet said, taking a seat at the kitchen island. She enjoyed spending time with the youngest Cameron. Cade was great and all, but Violet had secretly always wanted a younger sister -- and Rafe had two.

Wheezie placed a plate of pancakes down in front of Rafe and Violet, next to mugs full of coffee and glasses filled with orange juice.

"Can't forget the vitamin C," Wheezie said, smiling as she took a seat across from the couple. "I was going to make bacon, but there wasn't any."

Violet offered the girl a wide smile. "This is perfect, Wheezie, thank you so much."

Rafe said nothing as he shoved the food into his mouth, causing Violet to roll her eyes. Not even a thank you?

"What do you have planned for today?" Wheezie asked, glancing between her brother and his girlfriend.

"Do you want to take the boat out?" Rafe asked, turning to Violet.

"Is your dad going to let you?" Violet asked, knowing Ward had been apprehensive as of late about letting Rafe pilot the Camerons' very expensive yacht, My Druthers.

Rafe snorted. "I'm not going to ask."

"We could go to the club instead," Violet offered. She didn't particularly want to go to the country club, but she didn't want Rafe to get in trouble with his father.

Rafe quickly shook his head. "Too many people."

Violet nodded and shrugged her shoulders. "Okay, sounds fun. I should probably check in at home first, just so my parents know I'm alive."

If they'd even noticed that she wasn't home, that was.

"Oooh, can I come?" Wheezie asked.

"No," Rafe replied immediately.

"We should pick up your truck too," Violet suggested. Her guitar was still inside, and she wasn't particularly keen on the idea of letting it bake in Rafe's truck all day.

"Yeah yeah yeah," he said, rolling his eyes. "Your guitar."

He said it as if he didn't know that the purple Stratocaster wasn't Violet's most prized possession.

"Someone could steal it," Violet said, setting her fork down. "Or it could get warped from the heat, or --"

"Here we go again," Rafe muttered under his breath, bringing the coffee mug up to his lips to take a long sip.

"Rafe, it was a gift, a very expensive gift, from my brother --"

"I know, Vi," he interrupted, his voice slightly raised. "We'll get my truck and we'll get your guitar."

Violet sighed and pushed her plate away, suddenly uninterested in the half-eaten pancake on it. She looked up at the young Cameron, offering her a smile. "Thanks for breakfast, Wheezie."
