99 Australian Tour

Mei remembered when Miriam gave her the 99 Australian Tour CD with the "Girl I love your Jeans" remix on it. It made her love for her best friend bloom since her love for 4*town was through the roof. She's been listening to it all day and night for months now. It was the final week of school and she was in her room, humming along to the songs while doodling in her notebook. Not Devon this time, she wasn't risking that.

She tapped her foot on the ground to match with the beat as her pencil scratched along the paper in her notebook. Her phone buzzed and she flipped it out of her pocket, a text from Miriam.

Hey girl! Gonna need the CD back tomorrow, thanks!

Mei frowned at the text, she loved the CD but she knew she couldn't keep it forever. She had dragged it out as long as she could but I guess Miriam found out.

Yeah, of course, Mir!

Mei shut her phone and put it on her desk next to her notebook. She looked inside her notebook and smiled at the doodles of Robaire. She then looked at her Tamagotchi, Robaire Jr.

"Can't believe Mir actually took care of him for me," She reached over and grabbed her Tamagotchi, staring at the little buttons.

"For me," She breathed out. Shaking her head, she put Robaire Jr down and turned back to her doodles. She was just being nice Mei, don't get it in your head! Mei grunted and shook her head to clear it.

"Just being nice," She continued doodling but her mind wasn't turned off just yet. The Tamagotchi, 4*town, Devon (for a split second), Robaire, and even Miriam were on her mind. The thought of Miriam made her slightly upset because she knew she had to return the CD.

"Mei Mei! Time for lunch!"

"Coming!" Mei shouted back to her mother. She pulled her chair out and pushed it against the desk. She put her doodles that were on ripped-out pages in her notebook. She cleaned up her desk and put her pencils back in the container.

"Mei Mei!" Mei gasped softly and bumped against her desk. She hissed and rubbed her side before lifting her head.

"I'm coming!" She subconsciously shoved her notebook to the edge of the desk and went off to join her family at lunch. It wasn't anything special, just a sandwich but Mei agreed to eat lunch with her family since Ming said she felt a little distanced from Mei. Mei didn't feel that way but she wanted to make sure her mother was ok so she promised to eat with her.

During lunch, she caught her mother up on her life and told her about how the school week is starting tomorrow.

"Thanks for lunch!" Mei said after she finished eating and went back to her room. She closed her door and went back to her desk. That lunch, Ming asked her a lot of questions about her friends and it tired Mei out. As a result, Mei spread her arms out and leaned her head on the desk. However, her head jolted up when she heard a shattering sound.

"No, please don't be the picture frame of 4*town!" Mei bent down and picked up her notebook, holding it vertically so she can see where the glass would fall out. To her horror, no glass fell out but pieces of what seemed to be a CD. She dropped the notebook and covered her mouth, her eyes widened.

"No... no no no," Reality coming back to her, she picked up her notebook and flipped to the page where the CD was. Sure enough, it was shattered into pieces. She looked around and saw no other CD on her desk.

That was the 99 Australian Tour that Miriam lent to her. And she just broke it.

"No no no! Mir is gonna kill me! This is ancient stuff!"

"Not as ancient as our red panda history," Jin piped up outside her room door. He chuckled and Mei forced a chuckle so he would go away.

"I'm so dead," Mei dropped to the ground and decided to text Priya and Abby to meet up.

Priya emergency! Meet me at the temple!

Abby emergency! Meet me at the temple!

About fifteen minutes later, Priya and Abby were outside of Mei's bedroom, knocking on her window.

"Mei, you texted us,"

"Yeah! What happened that's an emergency?!" Abby asked, knocking on the window profusely. Mei swung her curtains open and opened the window for them to climb inside. Once they were inside, Mei breathed in and out before turning to them.

"I broke Miriam's CD," Abby and Priya looked at her with knitted eyebrows.

"The 99 Australian Tour," Both girls' eyes widened and they gasped. Miriam cherished that disk so much, probably more than Mei with Robaire Jr.

"Oh, you're so dead!" Abby said, shoving her finger in Mei's face. Mei swatted Abby's hand and whimpered.

"What am I going to do!? She wants it back tomorrow!"

"Can you fix it?"

"No, it's in like a bajillion pieces. Look!" Mei lead the girls over to her desk and showed them the pieces of the CD. Abby sucked in through her teeth and turned to Priya, subtly asking if she can help.

"Hmm," Priya stared at the shattered pieces.

"Well,"

"There's no fixing that," Priya said, crossing her arms and shaking her head. Mei bit her bottom lip anxiously and started stomping her feet on the ground.

"What can I do?!" Mei exploded into the red panda and flopped on the ground. The thought of Miriam hating her because of this was swallowing her up.

"We can figure something out,"

"Yeah! Let's distract her until you can figure out what to say!" Abby said. Mei hesitantly locked eyes with her friends.

"We can try that." Abby cackled because they used her idea while Priya nodded.

"We'll talk after school,"

"What if Miriam tries to come?" Mei asked as she put her fluffy hands to her face. She laid on her side and stifled an agitated scream.

"We'll distract her, and we'll keep you updated," Priya responded while Abby nodded. Mei looked at her friends as her panda self disappeared with a puff of pink clouds. She pushed herself off the ground and stood in front of her friends.

"That'll have to do, thanks, guys."

"You're welcome,"

"Yeah! Things have got to work out in the end!" Abby said, motioning to the mess of which was the broken CD. Mei nodded, bending over in a slumped position.

"Hopefully,"

Mei walked into school the next day with her heart beating aggressively against her chest. She practiced what she was going to say to Miriam the next day to stall the denouement. She walked down the hallway and saw her friends standing by the billboard, talking with each other.

"Alright, Mei, you got this," Mei whispered as a confidence booster. She sucked in a deep breath and walked over to her friends. Priya noticed her first and nudged Abby who attempted to kick Miriam to get her attention. However, Miriam moved last minute after seeing Mei.

"Hey Mei! Do you have my-"

"Hey Mir, how was your weekend?" Mei said, accidentally cutting Miriam off. That wasn't part of the plan, she just needed another moment to think of what she's gonna say.

"Uh, alright. You ok?"

"Mhm,"

"Ok... anyways, do you have the 99 Australian Tour CD?" Miriam asked, shaking her hands excitedly. Mei shook her head as a serious look spread across her face.

"Oh, right. I forgot about the CD, I'll bring it in to you tomorrow," Mei rehearsed, staring directly into Miriam's eyes to maintain focus. Miriam looked around, confused why Mei was staring and why she sounded robotic.

"Ok? Actually, I'll come over today and pick it up-"

"No!" Miriam flinched at Mei's tone before looking at her with a more grounded look.

"Why not?" Miriam asked while crossing her arms and leaning back a bit in her stance. Mei gulped and eyed her friends for help. Luckily they didn't have to do much because the school bell rang. Miriam looked at the bell on the wall and turned to Mei but she was already gone.

"What's up with Mei?"

"I dunno, now come on," Priya said, walking past Miriam and grabbing her wrist to drag her along. Miriam complied but was still stunned by Mei's response.

Mei made sure to dodge any questions related to the CD. Miriam noticed she was avoiding the question but as the day went on she wasn't worried about it too much. She figured Mei just wanted to keep it longer so it didn't bother her. She trusted Mei with the CD, and an extra day couldn't hurt. At least, that's what she convinced herself was the case.

After school, Mei went home immediately after school to figure out what to do. Even though she spent three full hours trying to figure out what to do. She was currently, curled up on the floor rocking back and forth in her panda form.

"What am I going to do~" Mei whined on the floor. None of her ideas would work, especially her most recent which was to glue it back together. Her phone buzzed against the wooden floors so Mei grabbed it.

Hey Mei, you can have it today but I would like it back tomorrow

"No! No~" Mei dragged out her last no as she fully sunk to the ground. There was absolutely nothing she could do and she knew it deep down. Accepting her fate, Mei sighed and stood up. Her panda self disappeared with a puff of pink clouds and she picked up the broken CD pieces. She grabbed an envelope from her desk and stuffed the pieces inside. After closing the envelope, she flipped it over and in her non-dominant hand, signed the card, Mir.

"Since it's in my non-dominant she shouldn't know it's from me," Mei explained. She asked Abby and Priya to meet with her on the other side of the school so Miriam wouldn't know where they were.

"Sounds good,"

"Yeah! Now slip it into her locker at the end of the day!" Mei nodded. The bell rang and the trio disbanded to their classes. Mei slid into her seat in math and took out her stuff for the class. She smiled brightly at the starter equation on the board but frowned immediately when she saw Miriam trudging into the classroom.

"Late Miss Mendelsohn?"

"Jammed locker," Miriam mumbled as a response. The teacher bought her excuse and turned back to the chalkboard. Miriam glumly slid into her seat and didn't bother trying to reason with Mei at the start of the period. When the class finished, Miriam grabbed Mei's arm to stop her from leaving so quickly.

"What's with you dude? The group walked right past me this morning," Mei winced at Miriam's tone. Miriam sounded dull and drained, and she could hear worry in her voice.

"Just um, private conversation,"

"But where were you?" Miriam asked while she followed Mei out of the classroom.

"And where is my CD!" Miriam exclaimed as they shuffled through the full halls of students.

"I'll give it to you later! It's in my bag!" Mei said before running off, leaving Miriam in the crowd of students. Her next class was with Abby and Miriam wasn't in the mood to say anything to her. The rest of the day was fine, the group ate lunch together which made Miriam feel better. They weren't completely ostracizing her.

"I just slipped it in!" Mei said as she hid behind the end of the hallway wall. Priya and Abby poked their heads out and looked around for Miriam.

"Your life is ending soon,"

"Yeah, say your prayers to that friendship!" Abby commented before frantically shushing the already quiet group. They all poked their heads out like they did at Daisey Mart, watching Miriam walk up to her locker. It pained Mei to see Miriam not feeling like herself and it pained her, even more, when she watched Mir open her locker. The envelope sat proudly on top of some junk and Miriam took it. She looked at the envelope and smiled, thinking it was the CD.

"Mei you're screwed," Miriam smiled happily and flipped open the envelope flap, but not before shaking it. She heard some glass hitting together which caused her to knit her brows. Her smile curved a bit and she open the flap and held her hands out. Miriam watched the shards of the broken CD fall onto her hands. Her smile slowly dropped and she used both hands to hold the shards. Mei bit her bottom lip as she watched Miriam's expression fall into a neutral face. She stepped back, closed her locker, and turned her head to the end of the hallway.

"Nobody else calls me Mir," Miriam mumbled. She locked eyes with Mei and her face didn't change, which frightened the group, especially Mei.

"Dude run," Priya said and Mei immediately took off. Mid-run down the hallway, Mei transformed into her panda form and she bolted out of the school. She ran past her classmates and away from the school. The look of pure terror mixed with disappointment traumatized Mei in every way possible.

"Why couldn't I be more careful!" Mei cried out as she ran down the street to the Lee family temple. Luckily she avoided causing car accidents as she ran to her house.

"Hey, Mei Mei-" Her mother started but upon seeing Mei's panda she quieted down. Mei ran down the hallway in tears and slammed the door shut to her bedroom. Her mother turned to her father and they shared a look that said, give her some space.

Her parents weren't showing off the temple today due to something that came up so they were spending the day together.

"I wonder what happened with Mei Mei,"

"She'll be ok Ming, don't stress too much over it," Jin said, reaching his hand across the table to hold Ming's. Ming relaxed a bit but still sat at edge until a knock came from the front door. Ming got up and answered the door, revealing Miriam with her skateboard in her arm.

"Hello Mrs. Lee, can I see Mei please?" Miriam asked politely. Ming stepped aside so Miriam stepped inside the Lee family house. Miriam waved to Jin and he waved back as she walked down the hallway.

Mei's anxiety was piqued right now. She heard Miriam's voice outside and the horror raced back to her. She thought Miriam would at least go home and wallow in pity for the day. Not show up at her house! Mei doubted Mir since that is something she would do. She never would've let Mei go through something by herself.

A knock on Mei's door brought her back to reality. Knowing there was no way she could drag this out, she swallowed and responded.

"C-Come i-in!" Mei huddled up under her covers which covered a majority of her panda. She was squeezing on her stuffed animal when she heard the door open. She peaked out of the covers and whimpered at the sight of Miriam's shoes. Her friend stepped inside and closed the door before leaning her skateboard against the wall. Mei saw Miriam sit down in front of her and prepared herself mentally.

"Mei..."

"Mir..."

"What happened?" Miriam muttered. Mei lifted the covers off of her and got a clear sight of Miriam. The poor girl's mouth was still agape and she had the same neutral face from earlier. When Mei opened her mouth to answer, the panic rose in her voice accidentally.

"I didn't mean to break the CD it was a total accident! It was lunchtime and the CD was inside my notebook and my book fell to the floor! It shattered everywhere and I felt so guilty about it I just didn't know how to tell you!" Mei rambled on while in tears. Mei started wailing as she pulled the covers over herself and cried even more.

"Mei..." Miriam didn't seem too sure what to say, but she knew she wasn't going to yell at her best friend like that. Instead, she reached her hand under the blanket and held onto what felt like Mei's arm.

"Mei I don't... I don't know what to say. I don't blame you but I don't exactly forgive you. There's no way I could possibly be able to get one of these again because my parents said they aren't spending more money on 4*town right now." Mei wiped some tears away but the waterfall continued when Miriam pulled her hand back. She stood up and walked over to the place of the crime.

Mei's desk.

Miriam scanned the desk for any more shards that Mei might've missed but instead found something else.

"Mei," Mei heard a new emotion in Miriam's voice which caused her to look up. Sniffling, she rubbed her nose.

"Yeah?" Mei watched Miriam pick something up and then suddenly turn around, a large grin across her face. Miriam's whole demeanor changed with whatever was in her hands. Mei concentrated and became her regular self. She removed the sheets off of her and joined Miriam at her desk.

"What?"

"Look!" Miriam said, shoving another CD in Mei's face. Mei looked at her quizzingly so Miriam pointed to Mei's headphones.

"You didn't break the disk! It was still in your CD player!" Miriam explained causing Mei to light up. Both girls cheered and hugged each other tightly, making sure the CD was in the player.

"Oh I'm so relieved," Mei said breathlessly. Miriam took the CD out of the player and put it back in its respected case.

"Same girl, thought my baby broke!" Miriam said while hugging the case against her chest. Mei rubbed the back of her neck and turned to Miriam.

"Hey Mir, I'm sorry for trying to hide it from you. I panicked and didn't want to lose what we have! We're best friends... and I can't live without that," Mei said sincerely. Miriam turned to Mei and smiled, flashing her braces.

"Don't worry about it, the problem is solved. Just don't do what you did today and yesterday again, it really messed me up,"

"Understood!" The two hugged one more time before Miriam grabbed her skateboard and left Mei's room. Mei jumped around excitedly, leading to a transformation to her panda self. Mei sat on the floor and stared at her CD player.

"I guess things worked out after all," She then looked at the envelope that Miriam left on her desk. She winced.

"I hope whatever that was, wasn't important,"

I remembered the CD was never brought up again so I thought why not. I took the risk of working on it during school 0-0 didn't get caught and nobody saw >:]

Anyways, I'm sorta back to writing. Turning Red is my new interest atm and I absolutely love the movie (on Disney+) I'm open to requests of course because I'm interested in what prompts you guys got.

I will not do anything sexual cause it's just wrong. This is a kid's movie and they're 13. I don't do x readers, just ships amongst characters or just activities amongst the group. Fluff or angst, your pick. Good night/day yall!
