Chapter Twenty Three

I turn around, still unable to see her. But then I sense something coming towards me and I step out of the way just in time. I activate my lightsaber, swinging in my defence just in time.

Two identical blood red blades crash against my green one, their hilts slightly curved. I would recognise them anywhere. Ventress had her weapons back.

"And Skywalker's pet returns, such a shame, we did such a good job of those clones. So many clones down in seconds - we did well Ahsoka," Ventress smirks at me.

"I see you got your weapons back," I comment, pulling back my own and making an attack, which she blocks.

"I see you only got one back. I have my ways. Your Master really isn't very tidy, your friend left them outside. I picked them up again with no problem at all,"

"She isn't my friend!" I take another swing and miss, once again, our blades are locked together.

"Last time we spoke she was your best friend, you wouldn't even contact your own master! She was the only one you would talk to!" Ventress sneers, and I glare back. We swing our lightsabers at each other.

"She isn't my friend! She killed the clones, not me!" I shout at Ventress.

"Admit it Ahsoka. You killed more. Together we killed twice as many as she did!" Ventress snarls at me, and we swing some more.

"I didn't kill them, I only knocked them out!" I defend myself, but now I think about it, I'm not so sure...

"You shouldn't have gone back! You should have left forever!" Ventress yells at me. She starts waving her blades randomly, and I force jump up to a walk way, where we're out of the way of Lux. She immediately jumps up and I block her attacks. I see Lux come out of the shadows, so he can see us more clearly.

"What do you want? I know you were following us ever since we left the speeder!" I call to her, over the loud clashes of our lightsabers.

"Revenge!" She cried,"I did my part of the deal, but you never did yours!"

"I forgot! I've been a little busy!" I defend myself, but it's not true. I wasn't really busy when I was walking around the temple or the streets.

"Whatever you say, I know I should have never trusted you! Tell me, what's it like to be chased by your master Ahsoka. Why did you forgive him? Nobody trusted you," Ventress smirks at me.

"Anakin did trust me!" I shout at her.

"Then why did he chase you across Coruscant with practically every clone available, not to mention the police! You said you would help me, but for my troubles I was attacked by your friend who tried to kill you and by your master, and clones!" Ventress reminds me.

"You tell a lot of lies Ventress," I decided, that for one day, Lux has heard enough. Using the force, I shove her of the walkway, and she falls, loosing hold of both her lightsabers. I jump down after her.

"A lot of lies? Look who's talking?" Ventress runs at me, and starts another attack, this time I'm not so lucky, the force of her attack makes me stumble, and I fall backwards, landing on my bad arm. I let out a cry of pain as it rips through by arm.

In fact, she pushed so hard, my own blade is inches from my face, I struggle, unable to use two hands, and the fact I'm lying flat on my back.

"Not so strong now, are you, now your master isn't here to save you," Ventress looks down at me in delight.

"I don't need him," I pant.

"Well why did you go running back to him when you got told off? And last time you said that, you ended up in one of your own cells," she reminds me, referring to the time I was on a mission with Master Luminara.

"I was younger then," I struggle some more, waiting for her to finish. The blades come slightly closer to my face.

"Then you haven't learnt anything. You still follow your master around, despite what they all did to you," Ventress tries to get me to weaken more, but fails.

"Not true," I argue, my blade is way too close now. I need to take action. I kick my foot, and kick Ventress's feet out from beneth her. I jump up as she tumbles to the ground, rubbing my arm. I watch, my blade ready, as she returns to her feet. She runs straight towards Lux, holding a blade in front of him threateningly.

"No!" I cry, moving so I can get a clear shot of Ventress. I use the force to shove her away again, then run to Lux.

"I told you to stay away!"I scold, glaring at him.

"I know, and I did, okay?" Lux defends himself. But before I can respond, I feel myself being lifted up into the air by the force, and the familiar feeling of being force choked arrives. Ventress is getting her revenge.

I start to cough and splutter, grabbing my throat in a useless attempt to stop myself choking. It steadily gets worse, until I can't draw air in or out. I start to panic, thrashing about in a desperate attempt to escape. Darkness appears around the edge of my vision, and everything gets blurrier by the second. Just before darkness takes over everything, I feel a sudden realise in pressure. I slump to the ground, and somewhere in the background I can hear Ventress talking.

"I've finished for today, but if we come into contact again, I won't hesitate to kill you," her voice says, somewhere behind me. I draw in the biggest breath of air I've ever taken, and immediately start coughing. I roll other onto my front, struggling desperately to get air into my lungs. I feel dizzy, like I have just before I black out, but I'm determined not to.

Suddenly, I feel a hand on my right shoulder.

"Ahsoka! Are you okay?" Lux is back.

"I think...so," I cough out, sitting up, "Argh! But my arm hurts..."

"Do you want me to find someone who can help?"

"No. I'm fine I just need to get my breath back," I assure him, closing my eyes and breathing deeply. After a few minutes of this, I scramble to my feet, "Okay, I'm ready now,"

We walk away from the scene, where Ventress had totally disappeared from. Eventually we get back to the street, and nobody looks suspicious. I sigh in relief.

"Can I ask a couple of questions?" Lux starts again. I sigh.

"If you absolutely, positively have to do so,"

"Then yes," Lux replies without a second thought, "First, is that the thing you didn't want to talk about? Two, Did you actually kill clones?"

"Yes, and I'm not so sure anymore. I think I hit some of them a little harder than I needed to, I assumed I just knocked them out," I shake my head.

"Right," Lux glances uneasily at me, "I won't ask anymore questions,"

After another fews minutes, I look up suddenly, sensing not one, but two, familier presences. I grinned and lept forward.

"Wait! What's going on?" Lux grabs onto my hand, pulling me back.

"I found them!" I yell, pulling back my hand, "Come on!" We run up the street, shoving people aside (me). I finally see them and practically pounce on Anakin.

"Where've you been?" I whine. Anakin spins around, hand going to weapon, but he stops when he realises it's just me. And Lux.

"Oh, it's you," Anakin sighs and turns back to Padme, "Well, looks like I'll have to talk to you another time Senator,"

"Don't worry, Master Skywalker, I probably need to get back anyway. I'll just wait for the crowd to clear, she gestures towards a crowd of people me and Lux just pushed through.

"Hi Padme!" I interrupt, as Lux pushes his way to my side.

"Hello Ahsoka, and Lux," she smiles at us. Then Skyguy starts again.

"Did you see that speeder earlier, the one flying straight down?" He asks us.

"Uh, yeah, about that..." I say, biting my lip.

"It was Ahsoka," Lux says before I can finish, before adding, "Too much traffic,"

Anakin looks surprised.

"Really? That was almost as good as I was the other day, almost," he places his hand on my shoulder, "I knew I'd teach you something one day,"

Padme looks disapprovingly at him and he shrugs.

"What?"
