Chapter Twenty Seven

"We should go into the centre of the city. I can give you a tour if you want," Lok offers, stretching, as he gets up from lounging on the chair. I glance at Lux.

"Sounds good to me," he replies, picking himself up from the floor. I also get up from the sofa.

"I'll tell Anakin," I excuse myself, so I can find him. I walk up the stairs to his room, because when he isn't with me or Obi Wan, he's doing whatever he does with spare parts in his room. I knock firmly three times, before calling to him.

"Master?"

"Mmm?" I roll my eyes. He can be so polite.

"Lux, Lok and me are going to the centre of the city. I'll see you later," I explain, talking to the door.

"Right Snips," I sigh as the sound of metal hitting the floor with a loud clang almost muffles his voice. I wander back downstairs to find that neither Lux nor Lok have moved.

"What are you waiting for?" I ask them.

"You, but it seems you're ready now, so we can go," Lok informs me.

"Okay then," I say, "let's get going,"

***

The city is quite small but still beautiful. No building is more than four floors high, giving the city an open, quiet and light filled atmosphere. Each building is made out of a sandy coloured stone, and the tiled roofs are various shades of red and brown. As a community, there seems to be a tradition for brightly coloured flowers, placed neatly in long flower boxes on windows, balconies and walls.

We walk along Smooth, pebbled roads. Everyone smiles warmly, and the war seems a million miles away. But yet, I still keep up my hood. Even here, I don't want to be discovered as a Jedi.

As we walk, the streets become gradually more crowded. But not Coruscant like crowded. Nobody walks into each other, and we could easily walk three abreast. But at the moment I'm walking slightly behind the other two, acting the part of the "wise" Jedi. Lux keeps glancing behind him at me, as if worried he'll loose me. I didn't mind at first, but now it's a few times every minute, it's starting to get vaguely annoying.

Soon the street widens into a market place, with a large statue of someone I don't recognise in the middle. Stalls line the walls of shops and crowd the middle of the square, yet unlike Coruscant, I doubt any of them sell anything even slightly suspicious.

Clothes, from cloaks to scarves and shoes are available in so many colours, I can't think of even a shade that's been missed. Children run inbetween everyone, getting in peoples way, but for once in my life, no one seems to mind. This really is away from the war.

I smile under my hood at the large group of children playing catch. Here they are obviously safe, and happy. Everything I see is the opposite of Coruscant, and I'm sure this is a good thing.

"Where do you want to go?" Lok asks us, pausing to wait for me. I shrug.
Lux pauses.

"Let's just have a look around," he suggests, carrying on down the street without us. Lok grins at me and we hurry after him.

"You do realise you've got ages to explore. You don't have to rush," I laugh, talking for the first time since we came out. Lux doesn't answer, but slows considerably. Lok laughs, and starts pointing out all the places he likes to go. I follow, listening to their conversation.

"Come and walk with us," Lux suddenly turns around and urges me towards them. I sigh and fall into step beside him.

"Happy now?" I ask sarcastically.

"Yep," he grins at me. I open my mouth to answer, but Lok cuts across me.

"Uh oh. Here comes Thorkil," He warns.

"Who's that?" I ask.

"The orange Twi'lek coming this way. His father is brother to a senator. He thinks a lot of himself," Lok explains.

"Sounds fun," I say, as Lux rolls his eyes beside me. The orange Twi'lek called Thorkil swaggers towards us, his head held high. When he gets to us, he stops. Thorkil is quite tall, he must be around my own age, yet he's taller than Lux. I frown.

"So Lok, who are these?" He asks, barely glancing at me and Lux, but staring fixedly at Lok.

"This is Lux Bonteri," he introduces, gesturing towards him, and thankfully, missing out me. Thorkil turns to Lux, holding out his hand.

"Nice to meet you, Mr Bonteri. What brings you to this part of Naboo?" He asks coolly.

"I'm a senator," Lux states. Lok muffles a laugh and I bite my lip as Thorkil's eyes widen with surprise. It seems Lux, in his eyes, has a higher ranking than him. Thorkil turns to me.

"So who are you?" He asks me. I open his mouth to respond that it isn't any of his business, but Lok, gets there first.

"She won't tell you, and neither will we," he warns him. But, he gets ignored. Thorkil frowns at me, and reaches to pull down my hood. I whip up my right hand, snatching his wrist and holding him away from me.

"Get away from me!" I snap, dropping his arm and pushing him away. He steps back once.

"I'm sorry," he drawls, not sounding it. Lux glares at him.

"What do you want?" He snaps at Thorkil.

"Let me know who she is, and I'll leave you alone," he smirks, watching me.

"You don't want to know," I state coldly.

"No? I think I do though," he drawls, not moving. Not wanting trouble for Lok, I sigh.

"Not in the street," I snap, grabbing his arm and pulling him down a side street. Lux and Lok run after us. Thorkil shoves me off him, following me down an alleyway. I stop once we turn the corner. I throw down my hood.

"I'm Ahsoka Tano. Happy now?" Lok and Lux stare at me, confused, and Thorkil's face is similar.

"And...why couldn't you have told me that in the street?" he asks me, staring.

"Because I'm a Jedi, you idiot," I snap. Thorkil's face pales slightly as he registers what I've just said.

"No, I was being serious," he claims, and I start laughing. Lok and Lux start beside me.

"So was I," I grin and he rolls his eyes.

"Whatever. Prove it," he demands, rolling his eyes. I frown at him.

"By doing what?"

"Whatever a Jedi does," he shrugs.

"I could do a lot of things, but I'm not going to, because I'm supposed to keep my cloak on," I smile sweetly, leaning against the wall.

"Show him your lightsaber," Lux calls to me.

"Okay," I answer. I take it from my belt, holding it in front of Thorkil's face. His eyes widen slightly.

"How do I know it isn't fake?" He pesters me. I sigh and activate it. I swing it in front of his face as it hums slightly.

"Wow!" Lok breathes. Thorkil appears to be lost for words. I return it to my belt, accidentally revealing my sling.

"How did you do that?" They ask at the same time. I share an annoyed look with Lux.

"Got shot and fell off a ten story high building in the same day, in about ten minutes," I say, turning away, "Oh and Thorkil? You won't tell anyone about me,"

"I won't," he says carefully, looking at me in awe. Lok looks exactly the same. I exchange glances with Lux. This is going to be a long day.
