Chapter Twenty One
*Ahsoka's POV*
I knew that question would come at some point. But I don't know how to avoid the truth.
"I got blasted off a walkway with both lightsabers in my hand. I let go of both of them so I wouldn't fall to my death, but my Shoto rolled off and I never saw it again," that would definitely bring more awkward questions.
"I just...lost it..." I say really lamely, not meeting his eyes.
"You just lost it?" Lux knows I'm lying, and he raises his eyebrows, "How can you just loose it?"
I don't answer him. I stare straight ahead, fiddling with the steering wheel.
"There's something you aren't telling me Ahsoka. What happened? Was it destroyed? Did someone steal it? Do you know where it is?" Lux stares at me with wide eyes and I continue to ignore him. I keep my face as blank and as expressionless as I possibly can, hiding any emotions, just as I've been taught as a Jedi padawan.
"Was your Master mad?" Lux asks me, obviously not planning to give up any time soon. But I can be stubborn too, and I continue ignoring him.
"Ahsoka?" Lux waves at me, and then waves his hand in front of my face when I don't respond, "Ahsoka! Are you actually even listening?" Still, I don't respond, but, for some reason, I can feel my temper rising. I think it's because I don't usually ignore people as stubborn as me for this long. (Anakin Skywalker).
Thanks to Lux, now the only thing I can think about is Barris and well, that issue. Oh, and the trust thingy. Once again, the questions bubble up inside me, and again, I ask myself why only Anakin trusted me. I clenched the steering wheel tightly, my knuckles turning very pale. I scowl angrily.
"Ahsoka? Did I say something?" Lux makes me jump, I was so caught up in my anger, I forgot about the present moment, ending up in some sort of autopilot mode.
"Yes!" I snap at him angrily, and he winces. I yank the steering wheel to the left, and the speeder swerves in the same direction. The man in the speeder behind me swears loudly. I ignore him. My anger has made me feels reckless and impatient, and instead of driving in the queues, I do a "Skyguy". I plummet the speeder towards the ground, and beside me, Lux lets out a startled yell and grabs hold of the speeder tightly. I make the speeder go faster, and I can hear nothing except the wind whistling loudly.
In a way, it feels like I'm running away from my anger. The faster I go, the further away it gets, and all to soon, I feel a tiny bit of regret. If I don't slow down soon, the speeder will plummet into the crowd of people in the street below, killing all of us. I change the speed to zero, but gravity pulls us towards the ground instead. This isn't going to work. Frantically, I search my memory as to how Anakin stopped. Then I click.
"Ahsoka!!!" Lux's yell is barely audible. I can hear him yelling me to stop, but I don't, then as we start to get way to close for comfort, I prepare myself. Then, at the last second, I yank the steering wheel so hard, the speeder stops the vertical dive, and hovers above the ground, staying on the spot. A small, but very shocked group of citizens stand at a distance around the speeder. In the corner of my eye I see Lux pull himself upright before turning to me.
"Ahsoka Tano. What the heck was that?"
