Chapter Thirty Four

"Obi Wan, can you get over here quickly, preferably with the ship, we've ran into a bit of trouble," Anakin informs Obi Wan of our small adventure through his commlink, as we ran down the strip of rooftops, occasionally jumping over gaps. When he's finished discussing coordinates, I glance over at him.

"A bit of trouble. Really?"

"He knows what I mean," Anakin states reassuringly. I therefore assume big trouble means big big trouble.

I can see the woman in the Manderlorian armour vaguely in the distance. I know for sure that we won't catch up easily unless we take a short cut, and as she's gone in an almost straight line, there isn't one.

After a lot more running, we start to catch up with her. Her stamina isn't yet good enough. Soon she's only a few rooftops ahead, and we're all aware, that soon, unless she pulls another stunt, she is going to be caught. Anakin signals for us to separate, me coming in on her from the right, Anakin from the left. I nod my head and start to move of as ordered.

I take a running leap to the next roof and realise we've chased her back to the market place. I share an uneasy glance with Anakin, who is running on the other side. The criminal is on my side, only a few metres away and yet just out of reach. Lightsaber swinging at her side, she draws out a slim pistol and shoots back at me. I duck, and because ducking includes slowing down to do it, she jumps a couple of metres ahead. I draw my lightsaber to avoid the same mistake.

Again she shoots at me, and I deflect them without pausing, and her finger starts to connect with the trigger more often. Not that I have a problem with that.

A single glance at the crowd below tells me this isn't going to end well. Instead of finding shelter, the crowds have moved into the middle of the square to watch. I don't understand what the find so entertaining. As well as me, Anakin also has his own lightsaber drawn, as I can see the familiar blue blade keeping pace with us out of the corner of my eye. I think Anakin should have gone right, seeing as he's faster, but I suppose he wanted to get ahead.

I start to deflect her shots back at her, but only enough to wound, not kill. She jumps to the side and the string of blue light that should of hit her instead fly's past, hitting a large chimney with a worryingly loud explosion. Both of us skid to a halt as it topples over, sending both bricks and tiles into the market place. People run for cover as debris rains down. Apparently, it's caused a chain reaction as the tiles under my feet slip away, and I fall to my side. I look up to see her also on her side, pistol pointing in my face. I deflect the blasts as I slide down, bit then everything falls at once.

Suddenly a stray tiles whacks my lightsaber out of my hand, extinguishing it at the same time as slicing through my glove, thankfully only leaving a light cut that could easily be fixed with a bandage.

I suddenly reach the edge of the roof and tumble off, before the Woman is even half way down. I hit the ground in a clumsy roll, my eyes shut. I shield myself as best I can, as the tiles batter me. By the time I get up again, I find two pistols in my face. One belongs to the woman in the Manderlorian armour, and the other, belongs to a masked man with wavey black hair. I pause, straighten up completely, and wonder vaguely how quickly everything changed. Anakin stands in the middle of the market place, deflecting shots that come from a ship I've seen bounty hunters use.

Anakin pauses to turn to me, and as he does, his face expression turns, and he shouts my name, with a warning tone.

"Ahsoka!"

I try to duck but this time it doesn't work. The blast of blue which comes from a stun set pistol hits me squarely, and the last things I register are Anakin's face and my other lightsaber swinging on her belt, before everything goes black.
