Chapter Thirteen
I automatically reactivate my own lightsaber. This, was extremely unexpected. I blame myself instantly for being so stupid. I really need to start sensing cloaked figures with red lightsabers in abandoned buildings. I have a bad felling about this.
The other figures lunges towards me, swinging her left blade at me. I duck to avoid it. Maybe I should have jumped out of the window after all. I quickly start to analyse this enemy, trying to work out if they are Sith, if I know them, or if I can escape. The answer seems to be no to all of them.
For a blind second I suspected Ventress, but this figure is shorter, so it can't be, not to mention different lightsabers.
The hooded figure twists the lightsabers towards me in almost one movement, and this time I am forced to block it. The deep cut on my elbow from the blaster stings more than before, and now I can feel the blood trickling down my arm. Today is not going well.
The blades come again and I repeatly block them. With each swing, I'm forced to take a step back. I'm too tired to keep my position. For once I don't attack, too bewildered to understand and I'm quickly being forced away from my only escape; the staircase.
I feel the cool, firm feeling of a bar behind me and realise I've backed into a beam. It's in a diagonal position, from the floor to the ceiling and I get an idea. I lay on the beam, and roll over it, having something in between us at last. But not for long. With a slice of each blade, a chunk of the beam drops to the floor and the room around us vibrates violently. The attacker steps through their cleared gap and runs towards me.
I, for once, run in the opposite direction, I dodge past her and sprint to the stairs, vaulting over a series of beams on the way. I can hear them only metres away. At long last I reach the stairs, before jumping from the top to the bottom, landing on the floor below. To my complete surprise, instead of landing on my feet, I stumbled and fell. I twisted my ankle in my desperation to get back up.
I half limped, half ran to the nearest door, and hurried inside. I could hear the swish of my enemy's lightsabers not far behind. Once again fearing for my life, I span around to block the attack. Then it began again. The hooded figure continues to attack me, and I continue to block it. I'm exhausted, and can't last much longer.
I watch in growing confusion as the unidentified criminal deactivates their weapons. I realise too late why. Before I have a chance to fight back, they use the force to throw me across the room. I smash through two glass doors and find myself on the balcony. I whack my wrist on the metal barrier and my lightsaber flys out of my hand and into the street below. I don't even try to get back up. I glance upwards to see the figure who had followed me silently.
They grabbed my neck to haul me to my feet, and I start coughing instantly. But my choking abruptly stops they shock me with a tazor. I yell in pain instead. I drop to the floor unconscious, but not before I realise that I've been thrown over the metal barrier, and off the balcony of the tenth floor.
