Chapter Forty Two

A/N:
So you don't get confused, this isn't from Ahsoka's point of view. Third person actually.

Anakin had ran out the ship before Obi Wan had gotten out of the chair. Shaking his head, wondering what Anakin was planning to do, and at the same time, not wanting to know, he followed his long gone former padawan out of the ship. He sighed, contacting him via commlink.

"Anakin. Please tell me you know where your going," he sighed, spotting him almost in the distance.

"I have a good feeling about this way," Anakin argued.

"If it's a good feeling then it's probably the wrong direction. I thought we were going after them, not away," Obi Wan mused.

"Master, I don't think now is the time for your bad sense of humour," he replied, and Obi Wan noted, not coming back.

"And where do you suggest I go? After you? Or somewhere else?" He asked him warily.

"Wherever. But really I- wait. Hang on a minute...what?"

"Anakin?"

"What?"

"What's going on?" He asked impatiently.

"Not a lot actually," he replied, "Hang on a minute,"

Obi Wan sighed and tapped his foot as he heard the unmistakable sound of a lightsaber igniting. There were a couple of bangs and then the sound of a lightsaber being dragged through something.

"Anakin! What are you doing?" He demanded, thinking that now wasn't the time for killing armoured animals that probably only glanced at Anakin in the first place.

"Wait...it's empty..."

"Anakin?"

"But that doesn't make sense!"

"Anakin!"

"What?"

Obi Wan sighed.

"Anakin, what's happened?" He asked, not having high hopes for a straight answer.

"You know, I have no idea,"

Obi Wan turned the commlink off and walked back into the ship.

Anakin frowned at the large circular hole he had made in the side of the ship. He wasn't sure whether he wanted to go in or not, he didn't know what he was going to find. Maybe he could have asked Obi Wan, but his former master didn't seem to be in a good mood.

After a long pause, he climbed in, wary of any traps that could have been set. This was most definitely the ship Ahsoka had been on, almost two days ago. He glanced at the setting sun, wondering if he should of stayed at his own ship. He didn't really fancy getting electrocuted.

When he came across the prison cell he had to admit he was impressed. His padawan had left behind a collection of broken cuffs, and a shock collar. As well as this, there was a broken chain and the lock on the door had been carefully tampered with. Ahsoka must have been desperate to escape. However, Anakin frowned as he discovered his padawan's sling. It was now tattered and ripped, suggesting a lot of violence had occurred.

He moves onto the cockpit, searching for any clues that might lead to Ahsoka. As there wasn't anything obvious, he decided to search the data on the scanners and holopads. He restarted them within minutes, hacking into them on his first attempt.

Surprising, the data had been cleared, not even a file left in the back up system. There was definitely something strange going on. Before, he'd always assumed only force wielders could visit Mortis, but obviously not.

Eventually Anakin gave up, unable to find anything worth noting other than the prison cell escape. He trudged back out, and hurried back to his own ship where he sensed Obi Wan waiting for him.

A while later, when he got back, he immediately fell into the pilots chair, head in his hands.

"I'm assuming it didn't go very well," Obi Wan observed from across the room, where he'd half heartedly been trying to contact the Jedi Council.

"You could say that," Anakin replied, looking up, "and you weren't exactly much help,"

"Maybe next time you should tell me what your doing. I know Ahsoka doesn't care if you make the plan up as you go along, but I prefer to know what I'm doing," Obi Wan told him.

"Yeah? Maybe that's why your way never works," he informed Obi Wan cockily.

"You can't really say that yourself Anakin. You just do what you feel like doing at the time. I doubt you ever plan more than a couple of minutes ahead," he mused.

"Hey. That's not fair. At least my way works. Anyway, do you want to know what I was doing earlier?" Anakin asked, changing the subject.

"I'm not sure I really want to know, but go ahead," he sighed.

"Well, I found their ship. - abandoned. The ship's memory was cleared, I couldn't find anything," Anakin groaned, looking out of the window,"I know she's out there somewhere,"

"We'll find her soon," Obi Wan assured, also looking out into the open. The sun had more or less disappeared by now, leaving a golden sunset to cover the sky.

Anakin went over to a data screen, sliding in a card he'd received from his cloak pocket. As the information and map appeared on the screen, a small smile tugged at the edges of his mouth.

The woman in the Manderlorian armour still hadn't realised she had a tracking beacon stuck on her armour.
