Chapter Forty Nine

*Ahsoka's POV*

I'm pretty sure the medical bay in the Jedi Temple is some kind of torture chamber itself. Eventually I got so bored I ended up arguing with a Jedi healer, but I was ready to go on all day, and that's what helped me win. So now I'm wandering the halls of the Jedi Temple, looking for something to do.

I've decided not to look for Anakin.

Techniquely speaking, I shouldn't really have left the medical bay, but I managed to convince the healers I felt fine, even though I have a throbbing headache and I walk with a slight limp.

After last time, I've not made any dramatic freedom actions, from fear of walking into something. Or Someone. I end up walking into a lot of people anyway so I might just as well stop with trying at all. I have no luck what so ever when it comes to dodging things in my way.

This time, I'm going after Lux. It should be fairly straight forward, considering he won't be outside, or in the Jedi Temple. I'm 99% sure he'll be in his temporary apartment, but who knows. Talking from experience (*cough* Anakin *cough*) guys can be fairly unpredictable. But I suppose at least Lux doesn't randomly disappear for no reason what so ever.

Strolling (or limping) down the corridors, I notice how few Jedi are around. By walking for ten minutes, I've only passed three Jedi, which is slightly suspicious, considering there are well over ten thousand Jedi. Recently we've been stretched across the galaxy, with several groups of us on a planet at a time.

At the beginning of the clone wars, when I was only a youngling, there we're plenty of us, many still able to rest at the temple and fit in extra training. Not now. As much as I don't like to admit, Jedi do get killed, so there are a lot less of us. These days the Jedi council are careful where to send us, considering which situations are more important than others. There simply aren't enough of us.

By the time I've finished pondering this, I've got outside onto a platform and made my way over to a random speeder.

I hop in and start the engine up, before moving off and away into the typical Coruscant traffic. As per usual, it's pretty much grid locked. So, obviously I have to queue.

"Aren't you a little young to be driving?" Turning, I make eye contact with a female Twi'lek, watching me suspiciously. I shake my head.

"Uh uh. I'm a Jedi. Well, Jedi padawan at least," I shout back, struggling to make myself heard over the buzz of traffic.

"Oh okay darling. I just get concerned these days," she laughs, pulling her speeder up along side mine. I grin.

"Me too. I've lost my master. Force knows where he went," I roll my eyes.

"Really. Well good luck finding him," she waves and moves away as the traffic starts up again. I pull away to the left, heading for the Senate building. Thank the force there isn't traffic this way.

When I arrive I park my speeder at the edge of the landing pad, knowing full well that the Senators have massive ships.

It doesn't take too long to get to Lux's apartment. Well, it took a little longer because the lift was being used, but I still got there fairly quickly.

Pressing the notification button on his door, I step back, lingering in the polished hallway. There's a muddy scuff on the carpet, which is a bit weird, considering Senators don't go anywhere near mud. It's the sort of thing Anakin would do.

"Ahsoka?" Lux appears as the doors slide open, grinning.

"Hi Lux," I tear my eyes away from the mud and invite myself inside, "How are you?"

"I'm all right. There isn't really a lot to do, but I've been discussing plans for the rebellion with Saw. He's taken charge for the moment. But what about you?" Lux's bright eyes scan my face, and he's looking for something. But I don't know what.

"Okay I guess. I may or may not have forced myself out of the Medical bay, but Anakin doesn't ever need to know that. I figured you would probably want to know what happened," I fall back on an emerald green sofa, waiting for his reaction. Maybe it waa my imagination, but I swear I just saw his face darken slightly.

"Yes," he sits down next to me, "I don't know what's been going on. No one will tell me anything, but only you, your master and Master Kenobi seem to know,"

I look away, out of the window, thinking.

"Lux, if I knew, I would tell you. But I don't. As Anakin said, I was out of it for most of the time, but I can tell you what I remember.

We came across the woman in the Maderlorian armour, the one with the lightsaber - my lightsaber. We chased her across the town, burning down a house in the progress, leaving the usual "you know Anakin has been here" mess. Eventually we caught up with her in the town square, but I got caught in an arkward situation and ended up getting captured. Also known as stunned.

Anyway the next thing I know, I'm in a cell on a ship, completed with a shock collar and cuffs. I tried to escape, but I never managed, well not until we arrived on Mortis.

I ran away for a few days, and when I moved off again, I was captured again. The guy who kidnapped me claimed to have killed my Master, and he tricked me. I think I must have collapsed from exhaustion around that point, because the next thing I knew, Anakin was there and I was totally confused. Then, I guess I must have been taken to the Jedi Temple.

I know my kidnapper wanted to use me as bait, but obviously, Anakin being Anakin, that didn't work out, so now I'm here," I shrug, looking up to meet Lux's intense gaze. He bites his lip thoughtfully.

"Then why didn't anyone tell me. I thought there was something a lot bigger going on, like a plot against someone or something?" He asks, standing up again, "I'll get us drinks,"

"I don't know. Maybe Anakin blamed himself and didn't want to talk about it. He usually does that," I suggest as I watch Lux carefully pour some sort of juice into elegant glasses.

"You get kidnapped often?" He looks up surprised and I laugh.

"No! I didn't mean that. It's just Anakin feels the need to be responsible for everyone. If something happens to someone, he always gets worked up and blames himself. I don't know why though," I shake my head, sitting up properly as Lux hands me my glass.

"I saw him talking to Senator Amidala earlier," he says absent mindedly, sitting down with his own glass.

"Oh they do that quite a lot," I muse, "I think they met a while before the clone wars and have been friends ever since,"

Lux sips his drink, looking surprised. I sip my own drink, frowning at him.

"What?" He asks.

"You look surprised,"

"I didn't know they got on. How did they meet?" Lux leans back, stretching.

"I've never asked. But they do get on well. That's how I know her so well, because of Anakin," I've never really thought much about it before, but the two of them do seem to know each other fairly well.

"You're close with Padme too? I thought you were more of just, distant friends or something," Lux waves his hand around, trying to put what he wants to say into words.

"Yeah. She tends to steal me away from Anakin from time to time and teaches me about politics. The last time we did that, she convinced me to illegally transport ourselves to visit your mother, and you know the story," I pause, pulling a face, "Force, I got yelled at,"

Lux struggles to suppress laughter. Then he snaps and I join in too, unable to stop myself.

"What about Padme, did she get told off?"

"Well, if you count Anakin telling her it was a stupid and risky idea, than yes. But then she said "Says the master of stupid and risky ideas himself" and I swear I have never sewn him look so speechless in my life. It was hilarious," I choke out, failing to contain my laughter.

"Who would have thought she'd have said that to a Jedi Knight!" Lux laughs, and I roll my eyes.

"I know, but it was well worth it. Padme is amazing. People are always saying she can't look after herself, but there was actually this time where I'd been after a bounty hunter, got shot, and she stunned the bounty hunter herself. It was actually quite embarrassing," I snort, crying with laughter. After rubbing my eyes I find Lux bent over double with laughter, which causes me to start laughing all other again. Eventually, we got to the point we didn't even know what we were laughing at.

Before I knew it, it had gone sunset. The apartment was in darkness and we we're still talking -mostly about Lux's rebellion.

"I think I should probably get going," I say, glancing outside into the darkness. Beside me, Lux yawns and gets to his feet, heading to the light switch.

"Nah. You can stay the night. It's to dark outside, you won't be able to see anything," He says as light brightens the room. Blinking dramatically at the sudden change of light, I lob a well aimed pillow at Lux.

"I have the force. I don't need to see," I whine as Lux throws the pillow back at me.

"Whatever. Everyone else can't see though. They'll crash into you instead," he grins, standing in front of the door as I stand up and stretch.

"No, seriously Lux. Anakin will kill me," yawning, I limp forward. He grabs my shoulders and turns me around.

"Oh no you aren't," he steers me into a room, and as the lights flicker on, I realise it's his bedroom.

"No. No Lux! This is your room. I can take the sofa!" I start to protest as I realise what he's doing.

"Hey. The sofa isn't so bad. Besides, you, are the guest," he pushes me down onto the double bed, then leans over me. Next his lips are on mine. Then he's gone.

I yawn, closing the blinds from any prying eyes, slide off my boots and fall into the bed. It smells of Lux, which despite sounding arkward, is true, and soon I'm asleep, comfortable for the first time in over a week.

A/N:

DUN DUN DUN.

That wasn't necessary. That was Luxsoka, not a cliff hanger. What do you think?
