Chapter Fifty One
A/N- hopefully, this time, the whole thing will show up - brand new 21/01/16
"It was just a nightmare. I guess I hadn't recovered as well as I thought I had," I lied, my shoulders drooping as I avoided Lux's eyes. I intertwined my fingers as I anxiously waited for his response.
"What do you mean?" I can tell by his voice he doesn't understand, as if he knows there's something other than my physical injury. He knows something else happened while I was gone.
"It's nothing. I just...I don't know," yet I don't know if it's a lie or not. Do I know?
"There's something you aren't telling me, isn't there. Like that time, I asked about your missing lightsaber, and now you have it back. It links together, doesn't it?" he reaches his hand over and tilts my head up so we're looking into each other's eyes.
"Yes," I sigh, "He had my lightsaber,"
"He? Who? Who are you talking about?" His eyes widen in surprise and I realise that he doesn't know about the son.
"I don't really know. But he was powerful - really powerful. It was like he wasn't just using the force. He was the force," a sigh escapes me before I can stop it, "He knows things about us that we don't even know ourselves. He knew what to do to wind us around his finger, me a specially,"
Lux drops his gaze and his eyes slide down to face the floor, a confused frown etched across his face.
"When you say that, you mean he got you to do things for him?" Lux asks, disbelief in his tone, like he wants me to deny it.
"Worse," I turn and glare at the floor, I can't help but feel angry at myself. The son shouldn't have been able to control me. I should have been suspicious, but I wasn't, not the first time, anyway.
"Worse? What could be worse?" I feel him slide my hand into his, squeezing reassuringly. I let out a humour less laugh.
"You really want to know?"
"Well," he paused, scratching the back of his head with his free hand, "I won't pretend I'm not curious,"
"You don't want to know I promise. I won't tell you," I slide out of the bed and peak through the blinds, only to find the sun slowly rising. I step back in shock.
"Ahsoka? What happened?"
"No time Lux. I have to go. Now!" I spin around to grab my commlink off of the bedside table, only to find it isn't there. My eyes immediately slide over to Lux, remembering his knack for taking things unnoticed, such as lightsabers.
"Lux! Where is my commlink?" I snap, leaping towards him, hands outstretched.
"Commlink? How would I possibly know that?" He struggles to keep a straight face as I get closer, until he slides out of the room with a shout of laughter.
"Lux! This isn't funny! I need my commlink! Anakin is going to kill me!" I whine, charging after him across the apartment. He sprints around the sofa and table, but I take a sneaky shortcut, vaulting easily over both.
"Hey! That isn't fair!" he complains, twisting to the side as I make a desperate lunge for him. Unfortunately, he ends up in the corner of the apartment, and I creep towards him, spying my property in his hands.
"Yeah? And the fact that Anakin is going to kill me is fair, is it?"
"Well no," he admits.
"I didn't think so," I muse, as I leap towards him. But once again, he dodges away, ducking under my arms and grabbing hold of my waist. As I let out a strangled gasp, we tumble to the floor, rolling across the thick carpet. In the process I snatch the commlink out of his loosened grip, before waving it over his head in victory.
"Ha! I've got it!" I boast, but neither of us can help but smile.
"Fine. Okay. You win. Happy now?"
"Not particularly. Nothing is going to stop Anakin from killing me for being late. The only thing that will help is if he's late, but I doubt he'll be this late," I admit, hoping that for the first time, I won't be able to find him.
"Well, if I were you, I get going," Lux says.
"That, my friend, was what I was trying to do," I clamber to my feet and head towards the door.
"Wait! Ahsoka!"
"What?" I turn, not hiding my frustration, "What now?"
"This," he sprints over and before I know it, his lips have crashed on mine. We stay there for what like seems for ever, favouring the moment. But then I pull away, feeling guilty. But Lux doesn't seem to care. He grins as I slip away, shouting behind me.
"But I'm still going to make you explain what happened!"
