Turning of Time: Chapter 4
__Sara Pov__
Living with Kakashi wasn't all that bad. He had a good sized house, with three bedrooms. He obviously had his own room, while the two boys shared, and I bunked with Ayaka.
I can't say Kakashi was a bad host necessarily, but he was kinda quite at first, and didn't really talk to us much. As the month progressed though I could tell he warmed up to us, and certainly with the three kids, it was almost like he was their father.
My thoughts turned to the academy, and I thought of my first day there.
__________
I walked into the classroom to see that I was one of the first ones there. I walked up to the teacher at the front of the class.
"Hello, my name is Sara. I'm new to the village and decided to enroll in the academy, I'll be your student from now on."
He hesitated a moment. It was obvious that I was the most well mannered kid he had taught, and in the next few seconds he voiced that exact thought. "Well then Sara, it is nice to meet you. You seem to be well mannered, and I think we will get along great. My name is Iruka." He smiled kindly, little did he know though that I was only nice to make a good first impression.
"Do you have any specific spot you would like me to sit?" I mixed some innocence into my voice.
"We have a few open seats," He pointed to three spots I could choose from, "You can pick any of them."
"Alright then, I'll take the one up front!"
He smiled at my fake enthusiasim, "Eager to learn are we?"
"You could say that..." You could say a lot of other things as well, but that wouldn't make them true.
"Speaking of, do you have any training or knowledge on being a ninja?"
"I have been trained in the basics, could you give me some scrolls that could catch me up to the class?"
"Sure thing, just wait here while I go to get them."
While he was out of the room I set my trap up. It had multipul steps, but based on his personality that I got from talking to him, I think that he will fall for each step perfectly.
As I sat in my desk the blonde haired kid from yesterday walked up.
"Hey, um..."
"Sara," I held out a hand. "and you are?"
"Naruto Uzumaki," He said taking the outstretched hand. "So could I ask why there was a very angry ninja chasing you yesterday? Because, even though it was funny, I was pretty confused."
"Yeah, sorry about that, talk about first impressions right? Anyways, I stole his favorite book and read what was in it."
"He was mad over that?" Naruto questioned.
"No, I think the part that made him mad was after I read it I ripped it into confetti, threw it in a trash bin, and blew it up with a paper bomb..." I said thoughtfully.
"What!? Why would you do that!?"
"Let's just say... I thought it a little... uninteresting?"
"Whatever then." He walked off to the back of the room and I started to doodle until Iruka came back.
"These scrolls will catch you up. If you don't understand anything you can ask me. I can also recommend that you ask Sakura, she has the highest marks in the class."
"Thank you Iruka-sensei!"
I opened the scrolls and started to look over them, some of the stuff I already knew, most of it was stuff I felt like I had already learned though, almost like a refresher or something. A couple of the scrolls held stuff that was news to me. I had some trouble with that and didn't want to ask Iruka at all, so I thought I would seek Sakura out later after class.
As I read the class filled up, and eventually the bell chimed. Iruka quieted the class, except a couple of boys behind me, who continued to talk. It seemed routine though as they were comletely ignored.
Iruka walked up to the board, and started writing something. As I had predicted though he made a mistake and reached for the eraser. I tensed and waited excitedly.
Once he picked up the eraser it lessened the tension on the wire I had attached and caused one of the pencils on his desk to fall down onto his desk, and a trip wire. This caused a bucket in the ceiling to tip over onto him, covering him in water.
He stood there shocked for a moment, before rounding on the laughing class to yell at them to be quiet. The prank didn't stop there though.
When he opened his desk drawer to grab a towel, it released yet another wire, which then dropped a suspended bag of flour right on top of his head.
The quieted class was then shocked as well, but they recovered and roared with laughter again. Iruka was just sitting there quietly, probably thinking of who could have done this. He glanced at a kid in the back of the class, presumably the class clown, but I could tell that Iruka knew that he wasn't smart enough to pull that off.
I could see the gears turning and knew that he would eventually figure it out. Finally it dawned on him and he turned to me.
"Sara did you do all of this?" You could tell from his tone that he was pissed, but there was an underlying emotion there that I had trouble identifying.
I put on my most innocent expression, "why would I do that Iruka-sensei?" The effect was ruined though when I smirked and he saw it in my eyes.
He thought a moment, probably trying to decide a punishment.
"Alright then! Since the entire class thought that this was so funny, time for a pop quiz! Everyone line up at the front, we are going to practice the Bunshin no Jutsu!" The entire class groaned, but I had expected this, yet again. (AN: if you didn't know Bunshin no Jutsu=clone jutsu. I like to use the japanese name, it sounds cooler.)
We all lined up and he called me out first, I had expected that as well. Of course that wasn't actually me, a few minutes before the prank comenced, I had snuck and using the Henge no Jutsu tuned into a stool in the corner, leaving behind a clone.
When my clone attempted the jutsu, they obviously failed, but what Iruka hadnt noticed was that behind him I had turned back and he was in the perfect position for the final step of the prank. The other students noticed, but didn't say anything.
I timed it so that my clone disappeared right as I cut the wire to pour the honey on him.
He spun around to face me then.
"Wow Iruka-sensei, never thought you would teach us how to make honey biscuts as well!" I smiled sweetly as I taunted.
"Saaaraaaa...." He paused and calmed himself, as he thought through what had just happened. "Will you speak with me after class?"
Just then the bell rang, right on cue.
"You wanted to see me Iruka-sensei?"
The class giggled behind him, and he rounded on them. "Class dismissed."
They all walked out still laughing at what had happened today. He then turned to face me once they were all gone.
"Well Sara... I couldn't exactly say this in front of the other students, but that was very well thought out. Every detail was planned exactly."
I looked at him surprised, it evidently showed on my face as well.
"Don't be too shocked you are still in trouble."
"I had expected that one."
He chuckled slightly. "My question is, how did you plan that so precisely? I know when you set it up, and that was when I went to get you those scrolls, but this was intricate and you would have needed to know how I would have reacted."
I nodded slowly before answering. "I was judging your personality when I first greeted you, and throughout class you proved that my assumptions were correct." I paused here wondering if that was enough but he gestured for me to go on. "You were even tempered and kind, but I could tell that if you were pushed far enough you wouldn't punish just the person, but the whole group. From the conversation we had, I could tell that you wouldn't suspect me right away, because of my impression, but you would eventually figure it out, and seeking a bit of revenge, you would probably call on me first."
He was stunned to say the least, but he got over it.
"Well, it is obvious that you can at least use the Bunshin no Jutsu and the Henge no Jutsu quite well and to your advantage." I beamed up at him, but my face fell as he continued, "For your punishment, you will have to clean the entire classroom, as well as the restrooms."
"Well, you follow your personality through to the end. I expected that as well, and so when you were teaching your lesson today, I cleaned the bathrooms up already."
He was beyond being shocked at this point. "Very well then. Once you clean the classroom up, you may go."
I nodded and got to work.
__________
I smiled to myself, that had been a good day, and they just got better from there.
Right now I was wondering what I should do today. I had asked all the kids when their birthdays are, stuff they like and all the other things I thought I should know. As I had found out yesterday when I asked, it appeared Daiki's birthday was June 14, Junichi's was on the 5 of December, and Ayaka's was today July 23.
I had to decide on what to get for Ayaka as well as the party. The three had made friends in the village, even if we had only been here for 3 weeks. They would run around the village and stop by the academy to say hello to their friends and me. When I wasn't in school I would run around with them, making friends myself.
I collaborated with both Jun and Dai to have them keep her out until 3:30 then come back for her party. That would give me about 5 hours to prepare.
I walked around the town finding all of the three's friends inviting them to come to the party. I even invited a few of my friends to come help and hang out as well. I found Sakura, who when I explained was all for it, she loved the three kids. After her we saw Shikamaru sitting under a tree. Me and Shika were good friends and would test who was smarter when we were bored. Lastly I found Kiba and made him promise to come, mainly because the three kids loved Akamaru to death.
I then went with Sakura, Kiba and Shika into a cloth store. I found really cute rainbow polkadot cloth as well as some other cloth I could use to decorate with and a table cloth. We then went into the bakery next door and ordered a vanilla cake with whipped cream frosting that he would make into a rainbow. Did I ever mention that Ayaka absolutely loves rainbows?
I dragged the three to my house and we quickly decorated the house to get it ready. I didn't have Kakashi to help me though because he left on a mission to gather intel on some rougue ninja.
When we were done I reminded them that the party was at 3:30 and asked Sakura to pick up the cake on the way back, giving her the money.
"What are you going to give Ayaka for a present Sara?" Sakura was leaving but she wanted to know.
"Well I thought I would take that polkadot cloth I got and make her a dress."
"That will look so cute on her, I can't wait to see it! Do you need any help?"
I thought about it, "Nah, I'm used to sewing and I can probably get it done in an hour."
I watched as Kiba and Sakura left, thanking them for the help. Shika was staying behind because he already had a present and it was too much of a drag to leave and come back, as he put it. I didn't mind though. I pulled out a Shogi board.
"What's that for Sara? I don't know how to play Shogi."
"Well you better learn, because you have a match with me in about 15 minutes." I tossed him a rule book.
"Man, this is such a drag." He opened the book and started reading though.
While he did that I took the cloth, a piece of paper and a pen and started to design the dress. I fashioned it to be a ninja dress and took out some sissors and sewing material to get started.
"Well, I'm done reading the rules." Shika said after 20 minutes.
"You fell asleep for five minutes didn't you?" I looked towards him, "I know you could have finished in 15 minutes tops."
"It wasn't my fault, I fell asleep cause it was boring."
"Whatever." I set up the game, "You have first move, now go." I started the stitching on the top part of the dress.
"What a drag..." He moved a piece.
I glanced at the board, then moved my piece turning back to the sewing after. It went on like that for an hour until I held up the finished dress.
I showed Shika "What do you think?"
"I think it looks good, Ayaka will like it."
"So what did you get her? You said you had a present, but I never saw you buy anything."
He held up a red strip of cloth.
"That's it?"
"Yeah she can tie up her hair with it."
"Geez Shika, you're such a boy! Do you have a bell by any chance?"
"Actually yes," he reached in his pocket and pulled one out, it was about the size of a marble.
"I'm not going to ask why you have a bell, but at least now I don't have to look for one." I took both the bell and the ribbon from him.
"What are you doing?" He layed down on the deck and turned his head to me.
I didn't answer, but instead threaded the ribbon through the top of the bell making a bow with the bell as the center. I then went and found a hair clip and attached it to the bow.
"Here, give this to her, you cheap skate." I tossed the bow at him. "You know, I even bought the fabric."
"Yeah, whatever, it's your move now." I looked at the board and moved a piece, I then stood up. "Where are you going?"
"To find a bag to put these in." I returned 2 minutes later with a small and a large bag. Putting the presents in them.
"Your turn again." I looked to the board, and couldn't find a good move. No matter what I planned I would end up losing.
"Well, looks like I underestimated you today, since it was your first time." I flipped my king over in defeat. "I'll be back, I'm going to run to the store for ingredients to make some snacks."
"Meaning you're going to buy snacks?" He mocked, knowing that I couldn't make anything more than rice balls.
"Shut up, now you're coming with me to carry the bags."
He looked up into my dead serious eyes, and eventually got up. "Troublesome woman."
We bought what we needed, like cookies, chips and some stuff to make pb&j sandwiches. We went back to the house and Shika went to lay down in the backyard to look at clouds. I arranged the food and put it out on the table, I did the same with mine and Shika's presents. I then joined him in the cloud watching, it was relaxing.
The time dragged along and the party comers arrived, the time ticked by until Dai, Jun, and Ayaka could be seen coming down the street by the lookout.
"Hey they're coming! Everyone hide!" The kid burst in shouting quietly. We all scrambled, turning off the lights and hiding. Eventually the three came in.
Everyone popped out as soon as the lights were turned on. "Surprise!" Was the chorus.
We had fun and hung out all night, some of my other friends came and joined us like Naruto, Shino, and Hinata. All in all, it was a fun time, and Ayaka liked all of her gifts.
The night ended with me, Shika, and Hinata hanging out looking at the sky talking in quiet voices, well Hinata's voice was its normal volumn. The three kids were already asleep and it was peaceful. They stayed until 10. When they had all left I went upstairs to check on the three kids. Dai and Jun were both asleep, but Ayaka was still awake.
"Will you snuggle with me tonight?" She asked me. Every once in a while she would ask this, but not too often.
"Alright." With that she fell asleep in my arms.
