Chapter 39: A Nightmare
"He doesn't love you." A voice hissed in my ear, sending shivers down my spine. I flinched, feeling a hot breath on my neck as a pair of strong arms snaked around my waist. I gulped, trying not to lose my lunch.
"He doesn't really love you. Why should he? You're a PATHETIC excuse for a human being." I started to cry and the arms around me grew tighter. My thoughts became jumbled and-
I woke up from that horrible nightmare with a start, my eyelashes wet from crying and Mark's arms wrapped tightly around me. I heard him whisper something to me.
"Please, wake up (Y/n)... please stop crying..." He whispered, sounding worried. I shifted slightly, letting him know I was awake. Mark sat up, pulling me along with him and then grabbed my shoulders.
"(Y/n)... why were you crying?" He asked, his voice seemed sorrowful and yet still had a concerned tone to it.
"It was nothing, no need to worry, Markimoo. It was just a bad dream." I answered, my voice cracking. Mark brought both of his hands from my shoulders to my cheeks and carefully rubbed the tears from m eyes. I smiled weakly at him and he enveloped me in a hug, he was so warm and strong. I felt so safe when I was with him, he always made me smile. No matter what.

After a couple of minutes Mark and I decided to head downstairs for some breakfast. It wasn't super early but it was early enough that no one but us was up yet. Mark started making the food while I began setting the table. When everything was finished I helped Mark put the food on everyone's plates just as they were coming downstairs. Mark's mom seemed super excited and even Tom looked happy with what we had done. All through breakfast Mark kept getting compliments on his cooking, from me and his family. As soon as we finished breakfast, however, Mark's mom made a proposition.
"What say that we go out for dinner tonight?" She asked, smiling at the three of us. Mark agreed, saying that he would pay but his mom cut hi me off, saying it was her treat. Mark knew that there was no arguing with his mom so he simply went along with it. So, all of us eagerly began to await dinner. But I couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong.
