Chapter 38: It'll be Okay
Mark's POV
After we had brunch (it was really lunch due to the time that my family got there) my mom started insisting we go with her because, well, it was free and she wanted to be able to see us more often while we were there. She really wanted to get to know (Y/n) and I could see why. There was one thing bugging me, though. Throughout dinner, Tom kept glaring at (Y/n). I don't know why he was doing it but it made me slightly uneasy through the whole thing. He even told mom to have her sleep in the guest room across the hall from my room even though the room and bed is plenty big for both of us. I was busy putting some stuff in the room, we would be here for a few weeks so I might as well get everything put up. I had some prerecorded videos and also some recording set-up just in case I wanted to make a video here. By the time I finished it was almost dinner time. I went to check on (Y/n) to see if she was done setting up. When I walked in I saw her asleep on the floor with a ball of clothes under her head for a pillow.
"I guess she fell asleep while unpacking." I chuckled quietly to myself. I carefully lifted her up and set her on the bed, pulling a blanket over her and exiting the room, closing the door silently behind me. I walked downstairs and saw that my mom was busy making dinner, when she saw me she beckoned me over and I started helping with dinner.
"So," she said, breaking the concentrated silence. "You really like her, don't you." She said it as less of a question and more of a statement. I nodded, looking down at my hands and the food I was frying.
"I like her. She's very nice and a very funny person. You chose well." She elbowed me a little and continued.
"Marry her, Mark. I love seeing you happy and no one seems to be doing a better job than her." I looked up, staring into my mom's eyes. She smiled at me and I gave a small smirk of disbelief back which slowly turned into a happy smile.
"Thanks..." I quietly mumbled. Smiling down at the food that was now ready.
"I'll go wake (Y/n)." I whispered as I started walking away.
I walked up the stairs and knocked on the door, I heard quiet mumbling from her room and the sound of a blanket falling to the floor. Heavy, sleepy footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door. It opened slowly and (Y/n) was standing there, her hair surprisingly neat. She rubbed her eyes and yawned and didn't say a word.
"Dinners ready." I told her, (Y/n)'s eyes lit up at the sound of food and she ran behind me and jumped on my back, suddenly awake.
"Onward!" She shouted, I chuckled and put my hands under her legs to balance her out. I speed-walked down the stairs and back to the kitchen, where Tom was setting the table and mom was putting food on the plates. I thanked them both for doing that and set (Y/n) down on the floor.
Your POV
Mark thanked his mom and brother for helping with the setup of dinner and set me down. I walked over to a chair, pulled it out, and sat in it. As soon as I sat down, though, I saw Tom give me a weird look. I stared at him for a moment and found that he was practically studying me! I wanted to say something but I didn't want to be rude to Mark's family so I just quietly started eating.
"This is really good!" I said excitedly, I bit louder than I ment to. Mark and hi a mom starting laughing but Tom just sat there studying me still. I finally worked up the courage to say something but before I could Tom spoke.
"What's with that scar an over your eye?" I stared at him and looked solemnly down at my food.
"I don't want yo talk about it..." I answered quietly, picking up another bite of food and putting it in my mouth. For the first time since I'd arrived he actually seemed kind to me. He gave me a quick sympathetic look and picked up a bite of food.
"It's okay, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to." He said before putting the food in his mouth. Dinner went on like normal after that, he stopped staring at me, giving me weird looks. It was peaceful for the rest of the night, in fact. He said that because I hadn't put anything up yet I could go stay in Mark's room and I graciously accepted and moved my suitcase and my clothes-pillow-pile-thing into Mark's room. We huddled up into bed and Mark looked at me lovingly and grasped my hand. I smiled at him and closed my eyes, drifting off to sleep.
Am I the only one that's noticed tat I usually end chapters with you falling asleep? Just me? I think it's because it's the easiest way to wrap everything up. Anyway, this is the chapter to leave your hate comments on so do that down below! Remember, you can hate on me as a person, too. Not just that. Fandom_911 out! Catcha later Ma Mellow Shmellows! ;3
