Chapter 11

"Mia, listen babe, I'll pick you up and we'll meet at the office, okay?" Alan asks. "Okay. See ya then," I hang up my phone, and walk outside. The kids went to Owen's parents house. Caleb, Chad, Joey, and the Smallbones are meeting us at the office because I need to talk to them.

I've been having such a hard time right now. I'm pretty certain that Owen is cheating on me, although I can't be certain. I just need to get some opinions from those who matter most to me.

Alan's car pulls up, a few minutes later. I get into the front seat of his car, and turn down the radio, which is playing Live Like You're Loved by Hawk Nelson.

"Hey princess, you holding up?" He asks. "So far, yeah," I sigh. He places a hand on my knee, "We'll talk at the office. Just try to calm down, my girl."

I try to focus on the songs playing on the radio. I let the lyrics fill my soul, and mind. I remember God's word, promises, and the plans He has for me.

Alan drops me off at the door, and I head inside while he goes to park the car. Feeling drained, I take a seat. Everybody's here- even Joel and Luke, who promised they'd visit me when their tour had a break.

I greet all of the guys with hugs. I take a little extra time with Joel and Luke since I haven't seen them in a while.

Alan enters and I take a seat next to him and Luke. "You guys know what I'm struggling with, and I guess I just want some opinions and advice," I shrug.

"Love," Joel starts, "You can't assume anything. You have to have proof before you do anything." Alan squeezes my hand, and I feel the tears sting my eyes. I've been crying way too often lately.

"Kiddo, I can't imagine how hard this is. We'll be with you through it all," Caleb says, a sad look in his eyes. "Also, I don't think you should let Ariel and Step know unless you're certain. Because if he really is just working late, you'll get them all worked up over nothing," Joey points out. I nod, agreeing with his point.

"But, little sis, if anything does happen, we'll all pitch in, and make you sure you and the kids are all right," Chad reminds me. I force myself to smile at him, "Thanks Chaddy."

"There's that pretty smile we missed on tour," Luke exclaims, "it's looks good on you, priceless girl." He takes my hand and squeezes is supportively.

"I can't promise you that everything's going to be okay," Alan says, "but I can promise you this, my precious Mia, you'll be okay. No matter what happens you'll get through this. Because you are a strong, little fighter, and God is with you."

"Guys, I know you're here. I know God is with me. I'm still hurting and struggling daily. I don't want the kids to know, like Joe said, I'll get them all worked up. They ask though. They ask why their dad isn't home. They ask why I cry, and why I'm sad all the time. I don't know how to answer them," I admit.

Everybody is silent for quite a long time. Luke takes my hand, and I lean my head onto Alan's chest. "It's hard," I whisper. "Life is hard, girlie. You've been so strong through it all. We're all incredibly proud of you," Alan says.

"Yes, priceless Mia, we're so proud of you. Even though Lukey and I haven't known you as long as these blokes have, we still care about you. We're still here for you. We still believe in you," Joel says.

I can't help but smile. If Owen leaves, I'll be okay. I've got a group of incredible guys who believe in me.

"There's the Mia I missed," Chad boops my nose. I scrunch up my face at him, he grins. "Keep smiling, kiddo. Hope is rising," Caleb reminds me. "It's gonna get better, homie," Joe says.

I walk over to Chad's computer, and find my playlist with all of my encouraging songs. I turn it on, and put the volume on low. The first song that plays is Bless The Broken Road by Rascal Flatts.

"God bless the broken road that led me straight to you, sweetheart," Alan says, kissing my head. I let a few songs play, and sit with the guys for a bit.

"How about I order a pizza?" Caleb asks. "I'd like that," I reply. He walks off to call Pizza Hut. Joey checks the fridge and sees a couple bottles of soda. "Pizza, breadsticks, and soda! A five course meal!" Luke jokes.

We listen to my music, and talk until the pizza arrives. It's good to get my mind off of everything. "You want to get the door with me, sunshine?" Joel asks. I nod, and he takes my hand.

I take the food from the delivery guy while Joel pays for the food. Before I know it, we're eating, and I'm laughing without a care in the world.

"'Atta girl," Caleb says. "Yes, my girl, sometimes laughter is the best medicine," Alan adds. "So good to see you laughing again, baby sis," Chad tells me. I pour another cup of soda, "Thanks for spending the day with you, guys! Especially you two," I point at Joel and Luke, "I know there are better ways to spend your break from tour." Joel smiles, "We love spending time with you, my dear."
