Chapter 1
"Can one of you guys watch Claire tonight? I have a date with Owen," I inform them. "I can do it, I have no life," Caleb says. I nod, "Okay, she loves going to your place."
All the guys are acting like they know something. "Is there some secret I should know?" I ask, raising my eyebrow. "Oh nothing!" Joey says quickly, almost too quickly. Something's definitely up.
"Chadster, will you please tell me," I beg. He shakes his head, "There's nothing to tell." I throw my hands up in exaggeration, "Fine! I'm taking AJ and Brycie with me back to the apartment. Caleb, I'll drop off Claire's clothes, she's just going to stay the night with you."
AJ and Brycie accompany me to my apartment to help me get ready. "Mia, you should wear the blue dress that Pres picked out for you," AJ decides, slipping it off the hanger.
I smile, "Good idea, babe!" I pull the dress on, and AJ zips it up for me. "Okay, now your hair. It's long, and has a lot of possibilities," Brycie informs me. "Half up, half down?" I ask. Brycie nods, "Good choice, maybe I'll also curl it."
She allows AJ to do most of the curling, while Brycie makes makeup suggestions. "You want it to look natural," she says, "but not like the no-makeup look." I nod, and let her do it. I hardly ever wear makeup, unless one of the girls help.
I open my eyes, to see my finished look. "Awh, you guys did great!" I exclaim. AJ smiles, "What shoes are you wearing?" I shrug, "Probably just my ballet flats." I put them on, and do a little twirl, "How do I look?"
Brycie giggles, "If you we're still a kid, Alan wouldn't let you leave the house because all the boys would chase you." I smile, "I love him to pieces though." She nods, "He knows that, dear."
"Mia, you're beautiful," AJ says. "Awh, thanks sweetheart. You're beautiful too, on the inside," I say, kissing the top of her head. I tell Brycie and AJ good-bye, and pack up a bag for Claire.
I put everything she'll need to spend the night at the Grimm house. Then, I take her yellow sunshine CareBear and lay it on top. This is the first gift she got after I started fostering. Alan gave it to her, and she loves it more than anything.
I walk out to my car, and drive to the Grimm house. Awkwardly enough, only Kelsey's here. I give her Claire's bag. "Caleb said y'all would watch her for the night. Here's everything she'll need," I say, passing the bag to her. She smiles, "We're glad to have her, she's a sunburst, Mia, and we're all really proud of you." I nod, "I know." Kelsey hugs me, and I drive back to the Powell house to tell Claire goodnight, and pick up my phone I left there.
"Miss us already," Chad says. I shake my head, "No. I forgot my phone. And I have to tell Claire goodnight."
Alan enters the room and stops in his tracks. I freeze, "What's wrong?" He walks closer to me, and I can see the tears brimming in his eyes, "You've never looked so beautiful." I wrap my arms around him, "That's one song you've never sang to me." He nods, "I will, when the time is right."
"Bye Claire. Be good, listen to Mr. Caleb and Miss Kelsey. But don't forget to have fun," I say, hugging her. She nods, "I will mommy. Mr. Caleb's silly." I stand up, and tell the other guys goodbye and leave. I've never left Claire before, I hope this is the right thing.
I drive to Olive Garden, Owen's meeting me here. I walk inside, and he's already waiting. "Hey hon," I say, laying my head on his shoulder. "Hey princess," he kisses my forehead. We have a reservation, so a waiter leads us to our table.
Owen's POV
I'm proposing to Mia Hart, the love of my life tonight. I'm nervous, but I can't show it. The Anthem Guys are helping me out. Of course, Chad is still kinda leery of me marrying his little sister.
The waiter's even helping me out. First, they're announcing a surprise Anthem Lights concert. Then they invite Mia, and I on stage. While Mia's preoccupied, I'm going to get down on one knee, and propose.
It's time. The owner of the restaurant takes the stage, "So we've been leaving local artists play here for a while now. This band played here a few years ago and now they're pretty big, but I managed to get them to come back, so please welcome, Anthem Lights!" Other customers politely clap. My gorgeous Mia looks confused.
Her mentors take the stage. They perform Just Fall first, then it's my time. "So," Alan starts, "my girl Mia is here tonight, along with her boyfriend Owen. I'd like to invite them on stage." We join them, and Mia sits next to Alan. Joey discreetly slips me a pocket microphone, as the song So Beautiful begins playing.
I begin singing with them at the chorus, and I can see the tears swelling in Mia's eyes. I get down on one knee, and open the ring box, "Mia, will you marry me?" I ask. She nods, and leaps into my arms.
I slip the ring onto her finger, and hold her close. "My love," I say, my finger tracing her gorgeous face, "can we share our first kiss?" She nods, and our lips find each other. Hers are soft, and as they move together with mine in sync, I realize that this is Mia's first kiss ever.
Mia's POV
"My love," Owen whispers, his fingers on my face, "can we share our first kiss?" I nod, and his lips find mine. It's my first kiss, and Owen does it slowly but with much passion, I know he truly loves me. It lasts for a few seconds, and we pull away breathless. "Owen," I gasp, "I love you." He smiles, "I love you too Mia."
Suddenly, I want to kiss him again and again, but I know I can't. Alan and I prayed and we decided, that when the time comes, one at my engagement and then not another until my wedding. This is going to be harder than I thought.
"Owen, honey, I want to kiss you again and again, but now we have to wait until we're man and wife," I sigh, still in his safe arms. He nods, "I know that this will be hard, darling, but it'll be worth it."
I can't believe Alan and the guys helped with this. Owen sets me down, and I run over to them, "Thanks for helping guys. You're the best!"
"I'm still not sure about this Owen guy, but if he makes you happy, I'm happy, little sis," Chad says. "We're proud of you kiddo," Caleb says. "And we're so excited to help plan a wedding!" Joey exclaims. "I love you so much!" Alan exclaims.
They all hug me, and Alan covers my eyes, "Wait, there's one more surprise!" He opens my eyes, and I see Josh and Jaxon.
"Joshy! Jax!" I exclaim, running over to them. "I missed you so much, sis," Jaxon says. "Two months is too long," Josh says, squeezing me.
"Owen, this is my step-dad Josh, and big bro, Jaxon. Guys, my fiancé Owen," I say, doing the introductions. They shake hands, and all smile. Josh and Jaxon know about my decision too, and they'll make sure I stick to it.
"We saw your whole proposal, it was adorable," Josh says. Owen nods, "Thank you sir."
"I'm guessing Mia told you about her commitment?" Jaxon asks. Owen nods, "Of course, and I respect that. I'm glad I got to be her first though." I smile, "And you'll be my last."
I'm guessing since I was on stage the entire restaurant saw my first kiss, I bet somebody recorded the entire engagement even.
"Are you guys staying at my apartment?" I ask the two Js. Josh nods, "If there's room. We know you have Claire." I grin, "Of course there's room. Claire-Bear's staying and Caleb and Kelsey's house for the evening, so I'll have plenty of room."
This is the best evening of my life. My seven favorite guys got to share it with me. I had my first ever kiss. And know I have a wedding to plan. I'm so excited and completely overwhelmed to become Mrs. Peters.

"Home sweet home," I sigh, leading Jaxon and Josh inside. They drop their bags on the floor. "There's the pull-out bed, and I can sleep in Claire's room, so one of you can have mine," I tell them.
"You don't have to switch anything for us kiddo, we'll sleep wherever we have to," Josh says. "Okay," I sigh.
"I'll sleep in Claire's room," Jaxon says. "The pull-out is all mine," Josh calls out. I go to my room, and change into my pajamas, and walk back out to the living room.
"Sorry about all of the toys everywhere," I sigh, picking up an armful of various pink toys. "Mia, relax, babe. It's okay, don't worry about it," Josh says. I drop the toys in a nearby laundry basket and sit down.
"I'm engaged," I sigh. "I'm so happy for you, girlie. You're going to be a beautiful bride," Josh says, kissing my head.
"There's just so much to do. Pick out a dress, choose a venue, plan an entire wedding," I say. "Yeah, and I'll be right by your side, helping you with everything," Josh tells me. I nod, "Thanks Joshy, you're really the best. I'm going to text Alan, and go to bed. So night."
He smiles,"Goodnight my precious Mia. Sleep tight." I hug him, and after making a top and telling Jaxon goodnight I'm in my room.
I pull out my phone, and send a quick text to Alan.
M- I'm scared
A- Of what, my princess?
M- Marriage
A- Owen loves you. It's going to be okay.
M- But what if it isn't? I can't be a wife.
A- I'm coming over.
M- It's late, Alan, you don't have to.
A- I'm coming. Be there in ten.
I put my phone away, and wait. Alan always knows how to make things better.
There's a knock on my door, and Alan comes in. "Are you okay?" He asks me. I nod, "Now that you're here, I'm fine. You make everything better."
He sits next to me on my bed, and I lay my head on his chest. "Listen to me Mia, everybody is nervous before getting married. You don't have anything to worry about. You haven't even set a wedding date yet. Calm down, everything's going to be fine," he says.
"Now that you're here, I suddenly feel better," I whisper, "You make everything better." I nestle myself into him, and the pain seems to melt away. "Thank you for coming," I sigh.
"No problem kiddo. Please just calm down, and try to get some sleep," he strokes my hair, and I drift off to sleep.
