Third Person POV

Tul carefully and quietly got of bed, making sure that Max did not get awakened by his movements.

He had two reasons for not wanting to wake Max up. First, it was a Saturday and Max liked to sleep in during the weekends. On weekdays and therefore work days, Max had to wake up as early as five o'clock in the morning just to be able to get to work on time. So weekends was his chance to sleep longer and to laze in bed.

The other reason that Tul did not want to awaken Max was because Tul wanted to go marketing to replenish their food supply and he wanted to do it alone. He and Max would usually market together but today and maybe the coming days, Tul preferred to market without Max's company.

Tul quickly and quietly showered and got ready to leave the condo unit.

At the market, Tul went straight to the seafood section. Tul was more of a seafood eater than a meat eater. Max had initially been more of a meat eater but eventually got to like seafood more due to the delicious seafood dishes that Tul would cook for both of them.

Tul was waiting in line to pay for his purchases at the checkout counter when he received a text notification.

Babe, where are you?

It was Max. He had awakened earlier than usual.

"I'm at the market. I'm getting ready to go back."

Why didn't you wake me up? I could have gone with you.

"I wanted you to sleep longer cuz it's the weekend."

But we always market together!

"I'm at the checkout counter now. See you in a little bit."

Max couldn't believe that Tul had left to go marketing without him. This was the first time ever that Tul had gone marketing without him.

Max got out of bed feeling both hurt and upset. He went through the motions of showering and morning routine feeling some kind of hollowness in his whole being.

Something was going wrong in their relationship. His instinct was telling him that. He wondered whether he should confront Tul about that.

After paying for the grocery items, Tul pushed his grocery cart towards where his car was parked in the spacious parking lot.

Not too far away from his car, he noticed a lady limping towards the car parked beside his. She had a grocery bag in each hand and was having some difficulty opening her car door.

Tul pushed his grocery cart quickly towards his car and called out to the lady.

"Can I help you with your grocery bags?"

The lady turned her face in the direction of Tul's voice.

"Tul?" incredulity was all over the lady's face and voice.

"Naree?!?" Tul couldn't believe his eyes either.

Naree was his nickname for his ex-fiancee Narikun. Their love story was a long and complicated story that Tul did not want to think about right now. He was just focused on helping out Naree who seemed to be having trouble getting into her car.with her groceries.

"Here, give me those bags so you can get into your car without difficulty. And why are you limping? What happened to your foot?"

"It's just a mild sprain. The pain will go away soon," said Naree. "Do you live close by?"

"Yes," Tul replied, "I live less than a five minute drive from here. How about you?"

Tul noticed Naree scanning his ringless fingers so Tul did the same. He looked at Naree's hands. She wasn't wearing a wedding band but she was wearing a gold ring with a small amethyst stone. It was her birthstone.

Tul's heart tightened in his chest. It was the ring that he had given her on her birthday as his present for her. She was born in February, just a day after Valentine's Day. They had both agreed to wed on her birthday so there was no way that Tul would be able to forget their wedding anniversary.

Sadly, the wedding never pushed through. They had to break their engagement even though they loved each other deeply.

They had gone separate ways and Naree accepted a job offer as a fashion consultant in Tokyo while Tul stayed behind and continued on with his managerial position in an accounting consultancy firm.

These all happened less than three years ago.

Tul thought that he had successfully moved on and had found his new love in Max.

"Are you still connected with the Sukpraserit Accounting firm?" Naree asked.

"Yes," Tul replied. "When did you get back from Tokyo? Are you here on vacation? Are you going back to Tokyo?"

Tul could not help asking many questions. He knew that he should stop now. He knew that he should keep his life from getting complicated all over again.

"I am not on vacation," Naree informed Tul. "I left the Tokyo office three months ago. I was sent back here to manage the Bangkok branch of their fashion magazine company."

"Where is your office located?" Tul really knew that he should stop asking questions already.

"Not too far from yours," said Naree. "Actually... our office is located on the top floor of your building. Probably the reason we haven't bumped into each other is because it's only been three months since I relocated here."

"I guess so," said Tul. "Do you want me to place these grocery bags in the back seat of your car or in the trunk?" Tul felt the need to get away and leave Naree before they both said anything to each other that might complicate their lives once more.

"Please place them in the back seat," said Naree. "Thanks so much for your help."

"Are you sure you'll be able to drive with your injured ankle?" asked Tul.

"I think so," said Naree. "It's just a mild sprain. Bye, Tul, it was good to see you again."

"Bye, Naree," said Tul. He refrained from saying that it was good to see Naree again.

Tul stood beside his car watching Naree drive away.

Suddenly Naree's car screeched to a sudden stop.

Tul ran over to where Naree's car had stopped. He could see Naree grimacing in pain.

Tul opened Naree's car door before Naree could say anything.

"You can't drive in your condition, Naree," said Tul. "Leave your car here. Get into my car. I will drive you to your home."
