Fluke's POV
If that bloody jerk of a hospital administrator had not engaged me in hostile conversation, I would have thought of checking my phone for any texts or missed calls.
Hospital employees are required to mute their phones during work hours, which I did, but unfortunately I had forgotten to unmute my phone when my break time came up.
By the end of my work day, I finally got the chance to check my phone for any missed texts or calls.
Good god in heaven. I had a missed call from Tul. Fortunately he had left a voice mail.
I quickly went to voicemail to listen to what he had to say. I could not keep my heart from pounding hard and fast as I listened to his voice on my phone.
"Hey. This is Tul. I was just trying out this number that was on this piece of paper that you gave me yesterday. Now you have my number registered on your phone. You can call me any time you wish. If I can be of help in any way just let me know. I really appreciate all the things that you did for me while I was at the hospital. Maybe you can text me your home address so that I can send a thank you parcel to you there."
I clutched at my chest because I could feel like precious air had been sucked out of my lungs.
He not only called me, and therefore gave me his contact number, he even asked me to text him my home address! Did I save a country in my past life? What greatness have I done in my past life to deserve such good fortune like this???
I did not even wait to start walking to the parking lot. As soon as I stepped out of the hospital lobby, I took out my phone from my pocket and texted him my home address. I made sure however to text him that he didn't need to send me any thank you presents. I only wanted him to know my home address in case he needed to come to me personally. Who knows, he might have an urgent reason one day to see me at my place.
In less than a minute Tul was calling me.
"Hey thanks for texting me your home address," he said when I took his call.
"But you don't have to send me any thank you presents," I protested. "I was merely doing my job. Besides, you are still recuperating so you should be resting and staying home. In fact, if you want I can stop by and bring you some fruits. There is a fruit market very close to my apartment. They sell very sweet mandarin oranges there."
"No, no, you don't have to," Tul said.
"I insist," I said. "It's not a problem at all. Your place is just a few minutes from my apartment."

Max's POV
"Where are you off to in such a rush?"
Shit, I had not expected my supervisor Sandra to come back from her seminar just when it was almost five in the afternoon.
I crossed my fingers that she would not ask me to stay and help her with her paperwork.
"Oh, hi, Sandra!" I gave her a nervous smile. "How did your seminar go?"
"It was actually fun. I thought it was gonna be boring but I was pleasantly surprised that it turned out to be very interesting and highly informative," she replied. "Are you getting ready to clock out?"
"Actually yes," I replied with a sheepish smile. "But if you need me to stay for something, I won't clock out yet." (That was my way of saying to her that she would have to pay me for overtime work.)
"Um... I don't have any deadline to meet until the end of this week, so I guess you are free to go," Sandra said, her back already turned to me as she unlocked her metal filing cabinet.
"I'm gonna say 'tot ziens' then," I said, quickly making my way out the door before she could change her mind. (A/N: Tot ziens is Dutch for "Bye" or "See you later")
I quickly texted Tul that I was on my way home while I was making my way to the company parking lot.
"Did you want me to stop for some food before I go home?" I added to my text.
I waited for his reply before I started my car.
When after a few minutes, I did not receive any reply to my text, I decided to call him. My call was directed to his voicemail.
What the hell, why isn't he taking my call? I calmed myself down and told myself that maybe he was in the bathroom.
I decided to stop by a Korean BBQ restaurant and bought some Bulgogi and Samgye-tang, which were Tul's favorite Korean dishes. After I left the restaurant, I thought of stopping by the nearby fruit market to get Tul some mandarin oranges so he could have a natural source of Vitamin C to help him recover faster.
With the happy anticipation of being with Tul again, I parked my car in the basement parking lot of our building.
I was taking my shopping bags out of the front seat of my car when a small white car drove past me. I happened to look at the driver. His face looked very familiar.
Then my heart jumped to my throat when I recognized the driver's face. Could he have been the reason that Tul was not taking my calls?
