Chapter 3: Investigations of a Demon

Shoutout to @CompleteFandomFreak because you encouraged me to work on this story again.

Dhanish and his mother hit the deck. When the green light had disappeared, he stood up and raced to his sister.

"Dhanish! Get your arse in here! Your father is more important. Let her die!" The witch screamed.

He ignored her, his mind reeling. Who had fired that spell? Can Dabria use wandless magic? What just happened?

The boy ran to his other half and she looked dead. Was she dead? Dabria was  naturally pale, and it made her look sickly compared to the rest of her family. Dhanish checked her pulse.

A faint heartbeat.

She was still alive, thank goodness. Dhanish ran over to his mother, but she pushed him away. "Please contact the Magical Law Enforcement Patrol. Now!"

"Mo-"

"GO!!"

Dhanish eyed his sisters unconscious body. If he called the Magical Law Enforcement, they would send his father and Dabria to Azkaban. I can't let them take Dabria away. What-

Dhanish sensed the slap before he felt it.

His mother was the one who slapped him. Tears were streaming down her face, but there was so  much hate in her eyes, it surprised him.

Dhanish raced upstairs, and packed their bags.

"Run me back through what happened." The officer demanded.

"I'm not lying. Dhanish and Tia got into a fight, I ran in to see what had happened, and all remember is waking up because your breath." Dabria hissed, annoyed.

The officer scowled. "Well, miss , has there any conflicts in the family?"

"Yes."

"Like what?"

Dabria sighed. "They... they pretended like I didn't exist. They refused to say my name. Martin and Tia didn't want me."

The officer raised an eyebrow. "That's no reason for murder, miss."

"For the last time, I did not murder Martin!"

"Tia Abel reported that you used wandless magic and broomless flight; that you were the one screamed the killing curse."

Dabria's eyes hardened. "Where's my brother."

"Avoiding the question? Seems highly suspicious to me. We might have to take you down for questioning."

"JUST TELL ME WHERE MY DAMNED BROTHER IS!!"

The other officers became quiet. Dhanish ran forward and threw his arms around his sister.

"I-I did it, sir," Dhanish said, in the quietest voice she'd ever heard. "I attacked my parents. Dabria rushed in to save me. I killed my father."

Dabria's jaw dropped. He was willing, seriously willing, to go to Azkaban for her?! She opened her mouth to say something, but stopped.

"I'm fully aware of the consequences. They-my parents-abused her! Don't you understand?! They were hurting her. If your child was being abused, how long can you go before snapping, before doing everything in your power to protect them? I tried, I tried so hard to be diplomatic, but every time they spoke it her, I became angry." Dhanish stood, his arms spread in front of his sister. "I cannot let you t-no, I won't let you take her."

"DHANISH!!" Tia's voice screeched through the home. She grabbed Dhanish's hand and tried to snatch him away. "Officer, I saw it myself! It was Dabria who killed my husband. My son is delusional after the death of his father, and I am, too."

Dhanish snatched his hand back and grabbed his sister's. "Dabria did not use any spell, my father was the one who shouted the killing curse!"

"How did Martin end up the dead body then?" The officer asked.

Dabria weighed her options. She could tell the man how Martin ended up dead, but that would raise a lot of questions. Or, she could lie and say the killing curse was her spell. Well, that last one wouldn't work out because of Veritaserum when she got questioned.

"I honestly don't know how Martin died. I imagined the spell reversing, so that's what it did. I swear. I have no idea how Martin died."

The officer looked at three, then the other officers. "Grab a blanket; we're going to the Ministry."

Dhanish and Dabria ran upstairs. At the last step, Dhanish stopped his twin.

"I already packed our bags. We have enough food, water, and Galleons to last us three weeks. If we go now, we won't ever have to see mother again. We'll be free."

"What about Hogwarts? You should at l-"

Dhanish shook her. "No. Your life is more important to me than some damn school."

Dhanish looked ready to cry, and she, too, felt the burning of tears. But, she couldn't let her brother see her cry. Dabria had to be strong.

"I-I'll think about it." She rushed in her room and slammed the door. Dabria heard her brother sigh and walk away.

Dabria stomped up to her closet and began to chant,

When Dabria stopped the chant, she stared expectantly at closet door.

"Open up, dammit! We had a deal!"

Caityana floated through the door, a proud smirk on her face. "I followed up on my end of the deal, so, whatever do you mean?" The smirk turned into a painfully stretched smile.

"You killed Dhanish's father! I said I wanted protection from him, and just how did you possess me if I didn't summon you?" Dabria demanded.

"He used the Killing Curse on you, and I simply blocked it."

"Well, care to explain why Martin knows the Kill-"

"Dabria, we have to go,  now!" Dhanish banged on the door.

Dabria glared one last time at Caityana, grabbed her thin blanket, and stomped outside.
