I reach upwards trying, in vain,
to catch me some stardust.
It's the same as pixie dust, right?
If I was to sprinkle some on me,
and think happy thoughts,
won't I be able to fly?
As I reach, I plead,
oh please, please, please, let me have some.
I'm good, you see,
I'm caring,
I'm deserving.
Please let me have some, please?
But the stars laugh in my face,
RIDICULOUS!
I feel a bit warm and stop reaching.
I know, I know, it's impossible.
I'm no fool.
But it's okay to dream, right?
And it doesn't hurt to try, right?

He reaches upwards trying, in vain,
to catch himself some stardust.
"It's the same as pixie dust, right?
If I get me some I can fly, right?"
He giggles when I tell him it's impossible.
"I know. But I want to try."
He reaches up again, wiggling his fingers.
The air grows cold.
It's autumn soon.
And his birthday's coming up,
but...
I smile at him,
seeing him reach up again.
I know.
I just know.
"Just think happy thoughts," I say.

I reach upwards trying, in vain,
to catch me some stardust.
It's the same as pixie dust, right?
If I was to sprinkle some on me,
and think happy thoughts,
won't I be able to fly?
I'll fly up and see him again,
in the starry sky.
I just want to tell him again,
how much I love him.
How smart he was.
How brave, to endure such sickness.
How proud I am to have been,
his big sister.
As I reach, I plead,
oh please, please, please, let me have some.
I pound the ground with my fists.
He was still so young.
Please, let me see him again.
Give me some stardust
so that I can fly.
And I will fly to see him again.
