"Don't worry about Khushi, I've been keeping a watch on her for a long time now. Mrs. Mallik won't dare cross her and if she does, She'll face both ASR and.. DK" Shyam said firmly

"That doesn't sound like a good combination." Khushi said

"It isn't trust me." Shyam assured with a wink

A few minutes later, Anjali and Payal entered the house only to see Shyam and Arnav sitting in the hall

“What took you people so long?” Arnav asked not looking up from his phone.

“I had my Ultrasound scheduled for today, It was bound to take time.” Anjali explained “At least look at me when I'm talking, What makes you so engrossed in your phone?”

Arnav looked up with a sheepish smile. “I had some last minute mailing to do, Sorry”

Anjali chuckled and settled next to her brother. “I haven't seen much of you lately, What's keeping you so occupied that you forgot your family?” She asked

“I can't forget you or my family in any circumstances. I was busy with things.” Arnav said

“And the said things, being?” Anjali asked, Just then Arnav heart a loud shattering sound coming from the kitchen where Khushi had gone to get herself a glass of water. Arnav jerked up from his seat as he heard a loud angry scream of his grandmother

“WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING IN MY HOUSE??” Subhadra Devi screamed.

Arnav along with Shyam and Payal ran in the direction of the sound with Anjali following behind.

The scene that met their eyes made the two men and one woman go red in anger while the second woman stood confused.

Subhadra Devi Mallik was holding Khushi's wrist in a tight grip while trying to drag her out of the kitchen while Khushi tried to wriggle out of her hold

“Dadi-ji.. You're hurting me!!” She cried.

“Let go of her right this instance!!” Shyam screamed angrily causing Subhadra to loosen her hold on Khushi's hand and look at him wide-eyed.

Arnav at once ran to his Khushi and got hold of her wrists, “You okay Khushi?” His voice quivered with concern. Khushi gulped before nodding. "I'm sorry Jaan"

"It wasn't your fault Arnav-ji" Khushi assured. Arnav got the ice-packs from the refrigerator and applied it on Khushi's bruised wrist.

"Khushi-ji, What are you doing here all of a sudden?" Anjali asked but didn't get an answer

Instead

“How dare you try to touch her Mrs. Mallik?” Shyam and Arnav asked in perfect synchronization

“What is she doing in this house?” Subhadra asked.

“This is exactly where she's supposed to be, This is her house.” Arnav announced making both Subhadra Devi Mallik and Anjali surprised. One pleasantly, While the other,  Not so pleasantly

“You didn't marry her that day Arnav, Do I need to remind you that you didn't come at the altar on your wedding day?” Subhadra asked sarcastically

“You need not to remind me of anything Mrs. Mallik, I remember perfectly what had happened that day and the days that followed. Khushi is, was, and always will be my wife. Whether you like it or not.” Arnav said firmly “Our relationship doesn't need the validation of the Saath-Pheras, Because I've already made every one of the seven sacred promises to her and she has too.”

“There is no importance of Rituals and Traditions in this girl's life, I know exactly what level these kind of women can stoop to. She must be missing the luxury of this house and so has trapped you in the-”

“NOT A WORD MORE!!” Arnav roared “Don't. You. Dare. let. Another. Word. Come. Out. Of. Your. Mouth. Against. My. Khushi. Or you'll see the worst of me!!!”

“What wrong did I say? Did she not stay with you without marriage for more than 6 months, These kind of girls can only be called whor-”

“Mrs. Mallik!!” Arnav roared shaking with rage.

“Arnav is not like your son Mrs. Mallik, neither is Khushi a girl of that kind, He's mumma's son, He knew what traditions and customs meant to both Mumma and Khushi and he would never go against those morals that mumma had instilled into him.” Shyam said firmly “And honestly, You don't look good blaming Khushi when you were responsible for ruining the lives of so many girls by protecting your son from the clutches of law making an unethical use of your powers in your own favour.”

“Damad-ji, You don't know what kind of a girl Khushi-”

“I know exactly what kind of a girl Khushi is, I don't need you to provide me with her character certificate, But neither do I have the time.. Nor the energy to explain it to a thick-headed woman like you. So it's better that you keep your hatred for her to yourself and let Arnav and Khushi live peacefully.” Shyam warned.

“You're cutting me off from my own family”

“You don't deserve to be a part of a family Mrs. Mallik, Don't act like you want to be a part of their lives all of a sudden because I know exactly what you are up to.” Shyam said flatly “Remember, We’ll never let your shadow reach Khushi. You will never be able to hurt her no matter how hard you try”

“Why do you even hate Khushi-ji with such passion?” Anjali asked “What is her fault if your son was a womaniser?”

“You're talking about your father Anjali bitiya” Subhadra Mallik admonished

“No Mrs. Mallik, We don't want to keep any relations with our mother's murderer.” Arnav stated nonchalantly

“Then, You shouldn't keep any relations with your wife either because her father had killed your father” Subhadra said smirking

“First: That man is not my father, Second: Khushi's father didn't murder that man and you bloody well know that! So quit playing dumb!” Arnav said frustrated

“Khushi-ji's father?” Anjali whispered

“Di.. She's lying. Khushi's father hadn't done anything!” Arnav defended his Father-in-law

“But.. Then.. What is she..?” Anjali asked

“I'll explain you everything, Come with me” Shyam escorted Anjali towards the living room and made her sit on the couch.

“You remember, I had told you about my sister”

“Yeah, Diksha Jiji right?” Anjali confirmed

Shyam nodded. “I never told you who that man was, Did I?” He asked

Anjali shook her head, All of a sudden, She felt her heart dropping “You're going to tell me now?” She asked

“It was.. Arvind Mallik. Your father!” Shyam said solemnly

“What?!?” Anjali exclaimed, what followed next was a complete round two of explanation by Shyam Manohar Jha aka Dheeraj Kharbanda aka DK

"How does that explain Dadi's hatred for Khushi?"

"Mr. Vardhaan had a journal, He wrote in it every important event of his life, and Arvind knew that, The whole Arvind Mallik fiasco is word-to-word recorded in one such journal, which is now in my possession, I had wanted to make it reach its original owner when the time was right, But Garima Aunty never told Khushi the reason for her parents' death and I didn't think it was right to intervene, So the journal always stayed with me. Dadi accidentally came across that journal in our room while I was still not in the house. She is under the impression that Khushi-ji had left that journal in our room by mistake and that she knows everything. When after your Baby shower I came to know about it, I didn't clear the confusion, Thinking that fearing about her lies getting in open, She'll stay away from Khushi. But.. something else happened." Shyam explained

"What?"

"She told Arnav that Garima aunty was the other woman in her son's life due to whom, Mumma committed suicide and even presented proofs of the same in front of him, She had thought that Arnav will start to hate Khushi and leave her unattended, Unprotected and then She'll strike and.. "

"And?"

"And kill Khushi. That way, The secret of all the five deaths that happened 15 years ago would be safe and no one will get to know anything about her son's deeds" Shyam said.

"She tried to kill Khushi?" Payal uttered surprised

"Tried.. But didn't succeed. Because ASR and DK were always on high alert. There was high security for both Arnav and Khushi from AR and Kharbanda Corp."

"But then why did you pretend to abide by her plan chotte?" Anjali asked

"Because he didn't trust me. He was skeptical of my intentions with his Khushi." Shyam said

"Why would he?"

"Because I.. gave him the reason."
