A man is sitting on the floor in a dark room. He was looking into oblivion with his blue ocean eyes. He was well built but his face was showing emptiness like his heart.

Suddenly the door opened, a ward boy entered inside and gave him a plate of food. The man closed his eyes because of sudden light. He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the ward boy with blank expression.

W- Mr.Shivaay, eat this food.

M-I don't want it.

W- Look you have to eat this otherwise I've to inform doctor.

Shivaay didn't reply and the wward sighed in disappointment and left after keeping the plate on the table.

After sometime, Shivaay stood up from the floor and laid down on the hospital bed and kept on looking at the ceiling without blinking as sleep was far away from his eyes.

Next morning, a lady in her early 20s entered the same hospital. She was as usual late.

A nurse smiled at her.

N- Good Morning, Dr. Anika. Good to see you back after a month. How was your friend's wedding?

A- Hi Sheena Aunty. It was as khidkitod as me.

Anika said cheerfully and Sheena chukled.

N- You always bring life to this hospital.

Anika smiled widely.

A- I know. Now I've to go otherwise Dr. Rana will kill me.

The nurse nodded her head with a smile and Anika went to Dr.Rana's cabin.

She entered his cabin and he looked at her with a smile.

A- Hello Mr. Tej Rana. I hope you're chirpy as a bird as always.

Tej chuckled at her reference.

T- Of course, I am. It's good to have you back.

A- So any new patients for me?

Tej looked at her and nodded.

T- Actually, there is one and I think you're the best psychiatrist for him. He came here a month ago and Dr. Om was attending his case but to be honest, we were waiting for you.

A- Okay. Tell me about him.

T- His name is Shivaay Singh Oberoi. He's a patient of Persistent Depressive Disorder. His wife Tia died 4 months ago and he was also in the accident. He never told anyone what happened and he is quiet since then. He doesn't talk to anyone, neither have his food nor take his medicines properly. If anyone asks him why isn't he doing this to himself, he says he wants to die. He is also suicidal. He has tried to commit suicide 2 times in these 4 months. That's why, his family brought him here. Are you ready to take this case?

Anika carefully read his file and looked at Tej and nodded her head.

A- I want to meet him.

T- Let's go.

Tej stood up and walked towards Shivaay's ward and Anika followed him.

Shivaay, as usual, was sitting on the floor, staring into oblivion.

T- Good Morning, Shivaay. How are you?

Shivaay didn't respond.

T- Look, who we have with us today, Your new psychiatrist, Dr. Anika.

Shivaay glanced at Anika and then ignored her.

S- It doesn't matter. She'll just waste her time here.

Anika and Tej exchanged glances with each other. Anika signed Tej to leave them alone.

Tej hesitated for a while but he nodded his head and left.

S- Leave me alone. I want to die then why are you all so hell bent to get me better? Can't you understand that I WANT TO DIE?

Shivaay shouted at her and Anika chuckled.

A- Same thoughts dude. I wanted to die but this ruthless world wouldn't let me so I became psychiatrist.

Anika said while chuckling and Shivaay looked at her like 'is she mad or what?'

S- Just leave me alone and go.

Anika sat on the bed and smiled widely.

A- Can't do. You saw that man who was here with me. He will definitely fire me.

Anika said while trying to maintain a stern face but later she burst into laughter. Shivaay looked at her annoyed by her cheerful nature.

S- What's the ocassion that you're so happy about?

A- Life.

S- What?

Shivaay looked at her in confusion.

A- Life is the happy ocassion.

S- Why? Don't you have any problems?

A- Of course I have. I've to wash my dishes, my clothes, my maid has taken a week's holiday and now I've to do everything alone but it is said that no problem is bigger than life so I'll just go home, play Lata Mangeshakar's songs and starting doing the chores.

S- Are you serious? You must be a happy girl with a rich family, good parents, a perfect boyfriend and a good job. Your life must be perfect. Why would you understand my pain?

A- Okay. Let's talk about my happy life. I'm Anika. Just Anika. I was very young, just 2 years old when my parents decided that they don't want me and can't afford my expenses so they left me in front of an orphanage. I mean who does that. Then when I became 12 , I had a dream to become a psychiatrist so I started doing three jobs in a day and simultaneously schooling. Then I finally got into psychology field and here am I. And yes, about a boyfriend, then my boyfriend cheated on me with my best friend.

Anika finally stopped speaking with a happy sigh and Shivaay looked at her shockingly.

S- Wow! Didn't you ever felt like ending your life?

A- I thought once but Dr. Rana saved me. I was about to jump in the river but he pulled me back. He said that ending a life wouldn't benefit anyone but living a life where we can help others will definitely benefit us. So I'm living for my benefit.

Anika said with a wide smile and a small smile appeared on Shivaay's face but he hid it quickly.

Suddenly Anika's phone started ringing and she switched off the alarm.

A- Okay buddy. Time's up. Got to go. But I'll be back with your dinner.

Shivaay nodded his head like he wasn't affected and Anika smiled because she knew he was.

Anika left and Shivaay looked outside the window with a smile.

After sometime, Anika came in his room with two plates of dinner.

A- Dinner time. Ting ting ting.

Anika said cheerfully and Shivaay rolled his eyes.

A- You don't have to roll your eyes. If you want I can go.

Anika acted like she was leaving when Shivaay stopped her.

S- Stop.

Anika looked at him with a wide smile.

A- Ohhhhoooo! Are you getting fond of me? Only in a day. Not bad.

Shivaay started looking here and there.

S- No I meant that give me my dinner and then you can go.

A- If we'll eat food then together otherwise no food. So let's start.

Anika sat in front of him and gave one plate to him and took another plate for herself.

S- Noodles, really? Where is porridge?

A- Ewwww... I hate that tasteless food. So from now on we'll eat the food of my choice because your choice is like an old man.

Anika said while laughing and Shivaay glared at her.

They finished the dinner and Anika left.

The days started passing by with Anika's non stop talks and Shivaay... Well, rolling his eyes on her talks. They spent almost all the time together. Shivaay started liking her carefree talks about life and now he also wanted to live his life like her.

One day, Shivaay was sitting peacefully when Anika burst through the door and Shivaay rolled his eyes.

S- Really? Can't you just let me spend my time peacefully?

A- No chance. Now go and get ready. We are going somewhere.

S- What? But how? I mean hospital?

A- Don't worry I've taken the permission and we can go so get ready and wear something hot.

S- Great. Now you're flirting with me.

Anika chuckled and Shivaay changed his clothes into a T-shirt and jeans.

A- let's go.

They drove towards a cliff.

S- Why are we here?

A- Because it's my favorite place. I come here whenever I want a 'time please' from the world.

Shivaay chuckled.

S- So why do you want a 'time please' now?

A- I don't want it. We want it.

Shivaay looked at her and nodded his head.

They were sitting in silence which was broken by Shivaay.

S- Tia was my best friend since childhood. She was kind of obsessed with me, whenever she used to see me with some other girl, she used to threaten me that she'll kill me. I never took her seriously. Our parents arranged our marriage and we got married when we were 25. It was our one year anniversary and I was planning a surprise for her so I didn't answer her any call. She tracked my location to check on me and reached the venue and saw that I was planning a date for us and my secretary was helping me. She pushed my secretary and walked towards me. She started blaming me that I was cheating on her.

Shivaay started taking loud breaths but Anika held his hand and he calmed down.

S- She started walking towards the car and I followed her and sat in the passenger seat. She was driving very rashly. Suddenly a truck was coming our way. I warned her but she didn't listen. She looked at me with a smirk and said, 'I told I'll kill you if I find you cheating on me. ' and she banged the car into the truck. After a month, I was normal, out of coma but Tia couldn't make it. I blamed myself because I knew she was insecure about me and I gave her a reason. It's true that I didn't cheat on her but she thought that I did.

Shivaay was crying by now. Anila hugged him.

A-It wasn't your fault, Shivaay. Tia was Ill, mentally ill. Her illness lead to the accident and her own death. You can't blame yourself for what she did.

S- But....

A- Shhhh... Wanna try something?

Shivaay looked at her in confusion. Anika smiled and held his hand and they jumped off the cliff.

FIVE MONTHS LATER-

A lady in her late 50s called out for Shivaay.

L- Shivaay.

Shivaay came towards her and pecked her cheek.

S- Good morning, mom.

P- Good Morning beta. Anika has called me for the 20th time and she's asking for you. She said she's waiting at your spot for last half an hour.

Shivaay looked at his clock and murmered 'Oh Sh*t! '.

He immediately stood up and ran towards the main door.

S- Bye mom.

Pinky chuckled and Shivaay left.

It's been 3 months since Shivaay completed his treatment and came back home as a completely happy and cheerful person. Anika helped him in every step. She was a support system for him.

During his treatment, Shivaay and Anika started finding solace in each other's company. The day Shivaay was getting discharged, he realised that he couldn't think of a single day without Anika and he was Already in love with her so he proposed her to be his girlfriend and she happily agreed.

They were in a relationship since three months. Today was Anika's birthday so they planned a date at the cliff and as usual Shivaay was again late for their date.

Soon he reached the cliff, which was 'their spot'. He looked at Anika who was standing there with a grumpy face.

A- That m*r*n! Let him come here. I'll definitely throw him down the cliff. I'm waiting for an hour and there's no sign of him. Wow!

Shivaay chuckled and hugged her from back. Anika's all anger melted with his single hug but she still maintained a stern face which Shivaay knew was fake. He controlled his laughter.

S- I'm sorry baby. I was getting something special for you that's why I'm late.

A- May I know what's that special?

Shivaay broke the hug without making any noise and Anika got confused. She turned back and gasped in surprise.

She saw Shivaay bending on his one knee with a ring in his hands.

S- Anika, you've been the light to my darkness. You pulled me out of my dark past. You're the remedy of my every pain. You stepped in my life when I forgot my existence. You made me live again. You gave me a new life and now I want you to be a part of my new life. I love you so much, Anika. Will you give me the honor of being my wife?

Anika was standing there in tears.

She gently nodded her head.

A- Yes.

She hugged him tightly.

Shivaay smiled and slipped the ring in her finger.

S- I love you. Thank you for being my hamdard.

A- I love you too.

Anika and Shivaay smiled and sat on the cliff in each other's arms.

I really wanted to write something on the topic of depression so What better than a story in Shivika's way, our favourite couple.😊😊

We are hearing many cases where people are committing suicide or they are depressed. Depression is an easy topic to talk about but no one knows better than a person who suffers from it. People may say that they are there for them but they are not. We never know what someone's going through. Depression may be difficult but life is not too cheap to just end it. There are many people attached to one single life. So if you ever feel alone or want share something, share it with your loved ones. They will definitely understand you. Trust me,they care for you. Don't just say 'I'm there for you', be there for them.

I'm sorry if I bored you all but I just wanted to share my views. 😅😅
