Chapter 12: Broken
"No! Felicity!" Cisco screamed, tears falling down his face.
Iris, Joe, Len, and Caitlin looked up.
"Her time is finished?" Iris asked, her breath catching in her throat.
Cisco nodded.
"I think she's already dead. Look what she sent me."
He pulled it up on one of the many screens in the room.
Len gasped.
He put a hand over his mouth.
It was Barry.
Barry was murdering people.
Suddenly, everything made sense.
"Linda, Patty, Felicity, even Oliver all dated him," Iris muttered.
"I'm next," Len whispered in fear, "I dated him."
Everyone turned to one another.
"We need to protect you," Caitlin said. Everyone nodded.
"We need to get Barry back."
...
Zoom smirked.
Barry was past the point of saving.
Even if they somehow managed to turn him back to Barry, he would forever be broken.
See, he had planned this all out.
If Barry got his memories back, he wouldn't remember the good ones.
He would only remember the bad ones.
And they would hurt more than ever before.
Zoom smiled.
Barry might as well be under his control.
...
Barry ran into the station. He wasn't surprised to see cops, but he knew they couldn't stop him.
He dropped Oliver and Felicity's bodies.
"Next person is Leonard Snart. He's so special that he gets 12 hours and a trip by himself.
"See ya in 12 hours, Lenny!" he called before racing off the set.
...
"I knew it," Len muttered.
He could feel the pain rising up.
Barry, sweet, loveable Barry, was coming to kill him.
And he deserved it.
...
Barry Allen was dead.
Tag knew it.
He could sense Barry's defeat.
"I give up," were his last words.
He had surrendered.
Now, he lay in a coffin in Tag's brain.
...
Note: Now do you understand the cover?
...
Tag was thrilled.
He was finally going to kill the person who had shattered him.
Leonard Snart.
Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak were dead.
Linda Park and Patty Spiviot were dead.
Not to mention a bunch of cops.
Soon, Len would join that list.
...
"I'm not ready," he said.
"Well, you have to be," Cisco answered.
No one had actually forgiven him yet.
"How much longer?" he asked desperately.
"An hour. If I were you, I'd say goodbye to my sister," Caitlin said. He nodded.
He hoped that Barry's wrath wouldn't extend to Lisa (or Mick).
But if he was right, it would and more.
He had to stop thinking like that.
He had to say goodbye to Lisa, maybe Mick if he had time.
...
Barry watched as Len called his sister.
He smiled.
It was sweet.
No! Snap out of it!
He couldn't afford to think that way!
But he couldn't help it...
Yes! Yes, he could!
He needed to...
...
"Lisa! I need to talk to you..."
"Who'd you piss off now, Len? How'd you get a speedster besides the Flash on your tail?" she turned around, fear and anger in her expression.
"So you saw the news?" Len asked.
"Of course I saw the news! I watch it every day. But, Len, please. You can't end up as one of those mangled corpses!" She was practically begging.
"I-I can't make that promise, Lisa." Boy, he wanted to.
"Len... I need you too."
"I'm sorry."
Lisa let her mask fall, and her tears fall down her cheeks.
"Please, Lenny... I need you."
He hugged her, and he felt her tears soak into his shirt.
If he shed a tear or two, she didn't need to know.
...
Barry stared at the reunion, tears sliding down his cheeks.
"I don't want to..."
Suddenly, Tag was back, stronger than ever.
"He raped you, Barry. He raped us."
Suddenly, those feelings of compassion turned to hatred.
"Kill him," Barry said.
...
Before he knew it, he had a half hour left.
Len wanted to spend those last minutes moping around, but he owed it to Mick to say goodbye.
...
"Mick," Len greeted as he walked in.
Mick was unconscious, beer bottles across his lap, chest, and the floor next to his feet.
Len sighed.
This was how Mick coped.
"Wake up," he said as he started to shake him.
"Ugh," Mick groaned as he opened his eyes slightly.
When he finally managed to keep them open, he stared at Len in shock.
"Aren't you supposed to be dead?" Mick asked.
"In less than a half hour," Len answered.
Mick scowled.
"I'll miss you, ya know," Len said after a moment's pause.
Mick rolled his eyes.
"Just 'cause your dying soon doesn't mean you can go all sappy on me."
Len laughed.
"Well, I figured I'd spend my last moments with the closest friend I've ever had."
Mick rolled his eyes, and Len snorted.
...
Barry felt like he was two people.
He, Barry, wanted to spare Len, maybe even forgive him.
He, Tag, wanted to kill him, make him pay.
He didn't know what to do.
Suddenly, he remembered something.
He was in a room. All he could feel was the pain.
It was both physical and mental.
He felt dry tears on his face.
He had none left to cry.
He felt hardened.
He felt ready to kill.
"There... now, all we have to do is erase your memories, and we'll be ready to go. Or, you will."
Barry had no idea what he was talking about.
He didn't really care.
Suddenly, he felt something press against his head, and he was unconscious.
It didn't really change anything.
"I have to," he muttered aloud.
He felt broken.
Maybe killing Len would fix that?
...
As Len sat with Mick, he heard the lightning arrive.
"Time to go, Cold," Tag hissed.
Len sighed, wiping his eyes before he walked slowly toward Tag.
"Bye, Mick."
And he was gone.
...
Little did anyone know, even Len, that Team Flash was also gone.
...
Note: I hope you enjoyed this! It's almost over! :( I know. It's sad. But don't fear! There will be a fourth book (if you count the alternate ending).
