004; Why Come Back?
Evelyn and Atlas entered the arcade, Evelyn holding onto Atlas' arm so she doesn't lose him in the crowd. The music was making the building bounce, and strobe lights from the many games flashing by, sometimes making Evelyn flinch. "What do you wanna play first?" Atlas practically shouted so Evelyn could hear him, "Uhhhh, Shall we play a few rounds of the claw machine? It's £2 for 10 goes." She shouted back at him, getting a nod in response. They exchanged their paper cash for coins and got started.
The date was going smoothly; they were laughing and having fun, joking about and versing each other in games. Sometimes Evelyn one and sometimes Atlas. "Are you getting hungry?" Atlas said, leaning down into Evelyn's ear. Evelyn's stomach did a backflip and her heart fluttered, "Yeh, kind of. We'll play one last game of air hockey and then go trade in the tickets and get a prize. We can eat after that, is that okay?" Evelyn said whilst Atlas was still leaned down. He nodded in response, and put in another pound for the shortest game time, and pressed start.
Whilst playing the game, Evelyn felt a tap on her shoulder, "One moment!" she shouted, as they had their last few seconds on the air hockey. Once finished she cheered in triumph after winning over Atlas, but once she turned her face drained of any colour. "N-Noah? What are you doing here?!" She said it with all her rage. 6 Months of rage was being unleased, and it wasn't going to stand down. "Hey, lets take this outside so we don't cause a scene? We don't wanna be kicked out." Atlas chimed in, trying his best to calm Evelyn a little. She looked at him and nodded, grabbing his hand and walking out, leaving Noah to run after them.
"Explain to me where THE HELL you've been for SIX, MONTHS." Evelyn screamed at him, tears threatening to fall. "Oh wait, you were with that new girl you found whilst 'at work', I forgot." She said sarcastically, choking on her tears as she did. Atlas held her hand tight, reassuring her he's there, but hesitant to but in as he doesn't know what exactly the situation is between them. "Look, it was a mistake. I don't know why I left like that, but I love you. I'll always love you. I never mea-" Noah was cut off. "I DON'T CARE!! You left me unexpectedly, no goodbye, no sort of 'i'm sorry but this isn't working' You left me with my own imagination to send me insane. You Hurt Me." Evelyn said through tears, her face wet and full of streams. "Hey, Eve. I'm here, everything is gonna be okay. " Atlas said as he pulled her into hug, glaring at the guy in front of him. "You know what you did is horrible. Your parents raised a monster if that's how you think women should be treated. You deserve to rot and die alone. I don't know what happened, or what the history is, but you have no right to be here." Atlas said through his teeth, glaring at Noah and trying to hold himself back from ripping into him and tearing him a new asshole.
Noah tried to grab Evelyn from Atlas, but Atlas flung himself around and turned his head back to Noah. "Leave." He said sternly, Noah not impressed one bit by Atlas' actions. "Look dude, I don't know who you think you are, but you'll never know and love her like I do. SHE'S MINE!" Noah screamed, punching Atlas square in the face, Atlas then wincing in pain. "Eve, go hide over there and call the police" Atlas quickly whispered in to her ear, gently pushing her towards a group of on looking girls. Whilst Evelyn called the police, Atlas held Noah to the ground, restraining him till cops got there.
As cops arrived on scene, Noah began franticly screaming things like 'Let me go' or 'He stole her from me' stupid things that made no sense. Once In cuffs, Evelyn ran over to Atlas and hugged him tight, crying and sobbing into his shoulder; Atlas patting down her hair in attempt to calm her down, even if it was just a little. She lifted her head and looked at Atlas, brushing her fingers lightly over the bruise forming on his face from the punch, "I'm sorry you had to get involved. It shouldn't have been this way, and you shouldn't have had to get hurt." She said through soft sobs, still shaken up from what just happened. "look at me." He said, lifting her chin to have her eyes meet his, "I would have got involved whether I knew you or not. However, because I do know you, you mean so much more to me. You don't have to apologise for something you didn't cause. Okay?" He said, His tone stern, but his voice soft and caring. She nodded and flashed a little smile. Everything seemed so small and meaningless when she was with him, in a good way. She felt loved and cared for; in an intimate way that is.
Atlas stared into her deep honey eyes, glancing down at her lips once and again. He was so tempted, but was this the right time? She must've caught on and picked up on his body language because she leaned in first, placing a small quick peck on his lips. He stood there stunned for a second, trying to process what the hell just happened. She looked down, redder than the deepest red, flustered. "Sooo! How about the KBBQ?" She said, breaking the silence. He just hummed a response, clearly still speechless. Even so, he held her hand and held her close. He's completely head over heels, and they both know it.
